The Pelvic Floor Project
This podcast is for anyone with a pelvic floor. Pssst….. everyone has a pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles responsible for controlling our bodily functions. I refer to myself as a physiotherapist for embarrassing issues. I routinely help clients address symptoms like incontinence, prolapse, diastasis, pelvic pain, intimacy issues and the list goes on. A theme that stands out to me is how little we learn about our private parts and the muscles surrounding. This podcast is for you if you are interested in learning more about your body. Focused on the female, I cover topics pertinent to puberty, athletics, pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, menopause, surgery and so much more.I promise to share evidence based information through discussion with other health care experts in their field with the goal to showcase a holistic and empowering approach to taking care of the only body you will ever have. I hope you enjoy!

107. Using Meditation to prepare for birth with GentleBirth Founder Tracy Donegan
In this episode I discuss with trained midwife and founder of the GentleBirth app, Tracy Donegan:
- The goal behind starting GentleBirth and the gap it filled
- Reasons why meditation and mindfulness are helpful in preparing for birth
- How the app may be used throughout pregnancy, birth and throughout motherhood
NOTE: 3 bonus episodes (meditations) will be released with this episode
The GentleBirth Positive Birth app combines mindfulness, hypnosis, breathing techniques, affirmations, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help expectant moms feel calm, confident and prepared for birth. Unlike traditional childbirth classes, GentleBirth is brain training for birth - teaching moms (and partners) how to manage stress, reduce fear, and build resilience through daily guided practices. Content is included for partners also (male or female).
With personalized meditations for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, the app is inclusive of all birth experiences - whether unmedicated, epidural, cesarean or VBAC. By training the mind and body parents are building the skills of emotion regulation and resilience during one of the most challenging times of adult life.
Tracy's GentleBirth book is available inside the app or parents can purchase a hard copy at
