Welcome to season four of the Mental Health and Wellness Show. This is your host, Dr. Tomi Mitchell. We will be discussing women's health issues impacting mental health and wellness. One in four women will experience a mental health disorder in their lifetime, yet only about one in ten women with mental health disorders receive treatment. Women of all ages are affected by mental health disorders, significantly impacting their physical health, relationships and overall wellbeing.

Biological factors often impair women's mental health, such as hormones, and reproduction related stressors. Women are more than likely to experience certain mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety. Finally, women are more likely to experience stigma and barriers to care the men. These factors make it essential that we discuss Women's Health openly and honestly.

Women's mental health is a topic that is often discussed in hushed tones or not discussed at all. This is because Women's Health is seen as a taboo subject. However, like we mentioned, the discussion of women's mental health is critical because we know that women play an important role in society. Women's mental health affects not only women, but their families and communities.

Women who suffer from mental health problems are more likely to experience domestic violence, financial issues, and relationship problems. They are also more likely to have difficulty caring for their children and maintaining a job. In addition, women with mental health issues are more likely to attempt suicide than women without mental health issues. Consequently, the discussion of women's mental health is essential to improve the lives of women and their families.

As you can see, this discussion of women's mental health is critical for many reasons. And only by doing so, can we hope to address the unique challenges that women face regarding their mental health. I want to thank the amazing women who shared their time and collective personal experience for discussing these sensitive issues that frankly need to be addressed.

On the show we do not avoid talking about specific topics because they are uncomfortable. I believe, if a subject is uncomfortable, this is more reason why it needs to be discussed. As usual. If you know of anyone that might benefit from these episodes, please be so kind as to share this podcast with them. Also, if you receive benefits from the show, a five star review would be appreciated. I look forward to sharing this season with you. This is your host Dr. Tomi Mitchell from the Mental Health and Wellness Show.
