Dr. Tomi Mitchell  00:07

Hello everyone, this is your host, Dr. Tomi Mitchell from the Mental Health and Wellness Show. Today I have the pleasure of introducing Louiza Bargaoanu. She is a mindset coach who is passionate about helping others live a more fulfilled life. Through her work, she helps others enhance their relationships with themselves and others in order to achieve and sustain daily happiness and daily confidence. Welcome, Louiza, to the show.

Luiza Bargaoanu  00:35

Thank you so much for having me. It's a pleasure to be here.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  00:38

Thank you. It's my pleasure. So can you tell the listeners a little bit about yourself?

Luiza Bargaoanu  00:42

Yes, sure. So I'm Louiza, as you said, and what I do is mindset coaching. So through my work, I help other people to enhance their relationship with themselves and others to achieve the two things that I feel we all want, which is daily happiness and daily confidence.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  00:58

I love that daily happiness and daily confidence.

Luiza Bargaoanu  01:02

That's it. Yeah.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  01:03

And why do most people come to you saying, Louisa, that's what I want, like how do they present?

Luiza Bargaoanu  01:10

So they really come to me because they what I've noticed throughout all of my clients is that they feel quite unfulfilled or unhappy with where they are, and internally more so than their circumstances, there's something that's just not right within them. So that's what most clients start with, they come to me and they just tell me that they're not satisfied at the moment. And we go from there. And we uncover a lot of different things that they feel on the inside. And then also, of course, look on the external circumstances, their relationships, as well. But the root of the problem that all of my clients have, is those internal on satisfactions.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  01:46

Yes. I was actually recently listening to a talk on happiness. And, and the speaker he said, how happiness equals problems. Now, I'll explain that to you, when you, when you have a problem, you have to find a solution, right? And you have to go through the steps. And that gives you self satisfaction, right? And that gives you a bit of happiness for a little bit. But then you have to find another thing to do, right? So it's like, you need to be consistently challenged, embrace the challenge, find true value from the solution you are finding and then keep on going. I don't know, it's a different way of thinking. But I actually like it, because I like to see, instead of looking at the problems, I focus more on the solution. And along that journey of learning and grow and satisfaction and finding a goal, I find happiness. So really happiness for me is purpose.

Luiza Bargaoanu  02:39

Mm hmm, exactly. I completely agree with that. And we create our own happiness through that is not to say that there isn't going to be challenges in life. It's about how we choose to deal with those challenges and how, like you mentioned, we choose to shift our mindset from the problem to the fact that if there's a problem, there has to be a solution. And that's where I choose to shift my awareness.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  03:00

Definitely a very common question people ask is, how are you? Like, that's typical answer for most people, it's fine. Right? You know, they're not fine. I have kind of because the pandemic and everything I have taken a different approach to that. Someone asked me, how are you and I was like, I smile in my TQM. But I'm living the dream. And then we laugh. And it truly is living the dream, because you're looking at the solution, even though you best problem. So you're dreaming and make taking the steps towards that, I really really like the concept of mindset. And I really believe that that's the foundation for life, it's necessary to have a, with a growth mindset knowing that, right?

Luiza Bargaoanu  03:42

Absolutely. Mm hmm. Yes, I completely agree with that as well. And like you said, you have to have that growth, because that's what life is all about. At the end of the day, we all want to continue evolving and developing. And when we start to see that is something that we can be happy with to go through those growth periods and become the best version of ourselves in this lifetime. That's when we have been able to reach through happiness, because we know that okay, there are going to be growth periods and there's going to be learning and I'm going to feel uncomfortable at times through those challenges. But that's the beauty of life at the same time because it's only taking you to the next level you.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  04:19

I love that and you mentioned being uncomfortable. And I that's I believe in that though there are many people that shy away from that because they feel it's uncomfortable, but we have to be able to embrace that in the growth process, right?

Luiza Bargaoanu  04:33

Yes, I think that's a key thing we all have to because staying in your comfort zone is going to keep you safe for sure. But true satisfaction in life comes from stepping outside of that comfort zone becoming uncomfortable at times and getting used to actually it's a paradox here but getting comfortable with being uncomfortable because that's what's going to take you to ultimate fulfillment satisfaction and happiness in life.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  04:59

Yes. So staying in your comfort zone over time will basically trap you make you feel stuck, right?

Luiza Bargaoanu  05:05

That's it.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  05:06

And pour and you know, look at life half the glass half empty or even empty, right?

Luiza Bargaoanu  05:12

Mm hmm. That's it. Yes. It's not where happiness can truly be achieved. I definitely believe that.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  05:19

Nice. So in your work as a mindset Coach, what other issues do you come across when you're talking to clients?

Luiza Bargaoanu  05:26

A huge one that I actually see across a lot of my clients is having confidence. And it's something that people struggle with a lot, especially the women I work with, we touch a lot on this, just being your authentic self and having the regular confidence or the daily confidence to just show exactly who you are to set your boundaries and to prioritize yourself in your life. That's another key aspect that I find a lot of people struggle with.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  05:52

That is very true. I talked previously about the seven C's of resiliency, basically being able to get through life when stuff gets thrown at you. And one of them is confidence. And there was a pediatrician, I'm forgetting his name right now. But he basically came up with them. And competence is an important skill that we need to learn early as children. Because if we don't have that skill, we're likely not going to have it as adults, right? So that might look like a child learning to tie their shoelaces, a child learning to mix cookie dough or helping but the thing is, we have to try balls, I'm trying to feel uncomfortable in order to grow and to develop confidence.

Luiza Bargaoanu  06:36

Mm hmm. We do exactly, because I the confidence that you have is really the key step to achieving anything in life. If you have the confidence you are halfway there, if you are confident, if you believe in yourself, then the actions you take will be more aligned, they will be more self assured. And you're more likely to get the results that you want, no matter what it is that you have in mind to achieve.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  07:00

Yes and when you're confident you'll be able to cope, you're able to build character, to be able to just keep on going because you're optimistic looking at probable possible solutions instead of a problem.

Luiza Bargaoanu  07:13

Exactly. That's it. So the all rounder is having that confidence, and then having the positive mindset, a growth mindset, like we mentioned earlier. And when you put those three, two things together, you're really unstoppable in achieving whatever it is that you want, or any challenges that come your way.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  07:31

Love it. So what's the best advice you can give someone who's like, Okay, I'm hearing you, I definitely I'm struggling, I need to build my confidence. I know, my mindset is limiting me, what would you tell that person?

Luiza Bargaoanu  07:43

So what I would tell them is that what we touched on already is that mindset is such a key thing here. So you have to tackle that you have to start working on your mindset. And what I would recommend is that you actually start working on that by building a strong morning routine, I think it's the best time of the day to do it. So even if it means getting up half an hour earlier or an hour earlier, just set some time aside for yourself to do some meditation, do some journaling, or some writing or shifting some beliefs that you have. But when you're able to do that you start your day feeling better about yourself more confident, and over time, you're going to see such marvelous results that will shift your reality

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  08:21

I love that, getting up in the morning while you're fresh. Hopefully before too many distractions pop up and writing them down. I too am a believer or like putting things to pen and paper, there's something powerful about actually writing it actually almost like an engraved in our mind so much more than if we had typeset. And being really intentional. I have this planner I use it's called a high performance planner. I don't own shares. But I encourage a lot of people to at least consider because one of the things we do every morning is that morning mindset and one of the questions is one thing you can get excited about today like starting off with positive not like oh, no, it's Monday this sucks. Like getting excited. Could be so small. You could be having avocado toast, I don't know, or trying a new tea or trying on a new outfit or meeting a new person but gotta get one thing. Right?

Luiza Bargaoanu  09:15

Exactly. That's it because we're all so most of us are so wired naturally to think negatively to get out of bed and go into our day and going on this negative streak of thoughts. Whereas if you just take that time in the morning to write down something you're excited about even or just take some time to be positive and shift your mindset. It's amazing the difference that it can have on your life.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  09:38

Yes, love it. I'll just go through the second point that I like to go through and encourage others to go through. So think about if one word to describe the kind of person you want to be today, then that word is blank. And why do you choose it? So you know, I like to say I want to be empowered. I want to be influential to be carrying whatever it is, but you have to set up the day with that positive intention and be deliberate because like you said, it's human nature to first fall the default of being negative, right? Just like his human nature and life that things chaos is more likely, if you clean your home, chances are unless you put in energy, it will become untidy. That's just human nature. That's just the law. Let's change it. So do you have any other tools that listeners can apply? Definitely you mentioned journaling, what else would you apply during the day? Let's say they're off at work, what are the things could they do?

Luiza Bargaoanu  10:38

If I would say that if they have a busy day, it's a, to also one thing, and this is not necessarily an action, but it's to know that this is actually a journey. So even if you if you're having a busy day, and let's say you've been doing really well for three, four days on your morning routine, and the fifth day, you have a slip and you sleep in or you don't do it and don't be hard on yourself about that, remember that it's a journey, and that you can go back in the sixth day and do it just because you missed a day doesn't mean that the work you've put in already is not beneficial. Sometimes I think those little slipups that we have, because we're human beeps really affect us so much. And we beat ourselves up about it a lot, when the truth is, you can just say to yourself, it's okay. It's only a day I've been doing for days. So I'm going to start again tomorrow. And that really shifts your perspective again, and it can be so powerful, because you're not in that negative state of or luck of six sense, I can't do this. I'm not good at this and all of these thoughts that can come into your mind. So knowing that it's a journey, and that having a little slipup is okay, can be so powerful as well.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  11:45

Definitely, and I see that very often is that someone quote unquote, messes up has that slipup, and then they feel like, oh, hope is lost, that you just quit. I feel like giving up.

Luiza Bargaoanu  11:56

Exactly. That's the point where you should actually remind yourself that you did a couple of days already. So just because you messed a day doesn't mean you can't continue and it's okay. You just have to build a habit out of it.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  12:07

Exactly. So to those are listening just because you ate the chocolate cake, the milkshake and fries yesterday or whatever it was, you really can have a good day doesn't mean your journey is over. I have a rule. It's like a it's called a 90/10 rule 90% of times the be good, you know, have a halo around your head do the right thing. And that 10% is called life where you enjoy it but a bit in moderation. Right? And that's okay.

Luiza Bargaoanu  12:33

Yes.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  12:34

That's the human experience this is beauty in our imperfection.

Luiza Bargaoanu  12:38

I love that so much.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  12:39

Right? So that. I'm a big believer in that. And mindset is the foundation for happiness. Now growth mindset, not to set, is a foundation for happiness for health, productivity, it will help you get ahead faster and more consistently than if you had the Oh life sucks. There's nothing I can do. I'm you know, just a victim. So I'm stuck. I can't learn. I'm jealous of others. No, you are capable. It might take practice. It might take being educated. Take a course just do your thing.

Luiza Bargaoanu  12:40

Yeah. Mm hmm, exactly. That's it. Just do your thing and only compare yourself to the person that you were yesterday and nobody else.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  13:21

Yes, I love that. Only compare yourself to the person you were yesterday because your race is against yourself. It's not others.

Luiza Bargaoanu  13:29

Exactly. That's it. There's no one else you need to compare yourself with. Because you have your own desires, your own life and your own purpose. So it's only you you should be comparing yourself to.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  13:38

Definitely there's only one of you. So hey, that's that's awesome. So I'm curious. How long have you been doing this? Coz this is a very focused niche.

Luiza Bargaoanu  13:47

Oh, no, I've been doing this for two years now.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  13:49

Nice. Very good. Yeah.

Luiza Bargaoanu  13:51

I'm quite new, but I love it. It's great. It's something that I'm passionate about personally. So I'm really grateful that I can implement that in my professional life too.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  14:01

Love it. So how would listeners get a hold of you?

Luiza Bargaoanu  14:03

So if they want to get a hold of me on Instagram is the best way to do that. And I have my handle. It's Lisa Berger Juanjo. All in one word. So if they would like to get in touch, that's the best way.

Dr. Tomi Mitchell  14:15

Awesome. Thank you so much and to the listeners. We'll have those handles contact information in the show notes. Louisa, thank you so much for sharing insight of this. Honestly, it's not complicated, but lot of us at some point didn't really think about it and I was one of them. I like growth mindset fixed mindset, but it makes a huge difference. Yeah, so with that being said, listeners, this is your host Dr. Tomi Mitchell on the Mental Health and Wellness Show. Bye.
