How to Know When It’s Time to Change Your Environment
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Sometimes, the environment I’m in simply doesn’t support the person I’m trying to become.
In this video, I share my experience as a working guitar player in my 20s. From the outside, I was living the dream. But the reality of my day-to-day life was completely at odds with what I needed to feel healthy and happy.
Leaving that career was scary. It meant starting over at an age when many of my friends already had established careers, families, and a clear path forward.
But staying somewhere that wasn’t working for me wasn’t the answer either.
Whether it’s your career, relationships, routines, or the people you surround yourself with, sometimes the environment you’re in can make it incredibly difficult to create the changes you want.
That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to blow up your life. But it might be worth asking yourself:
Is my current environment actually helping me become the person I want to be?
And if it isn’t, what options do I have?
