MM Ep 50: Grow At Your Own Pace
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We slow things down and remember it’s okay to grow at our own pace, especially when social media makes everyone else look “ahead.” We talk through what growth can look like, how different learning styles affect progress, and how repetition helps real change take root.
• pressure to match other people’s timelines and why it backfires
• how comparison on social media distorts what progress looks like
• different kinds of growth: spiritual, emotional, mental, physical health and wellness
• why learning takes time and why “slower” can still be strong
• choosing a learning style that fits: reading, listening, watching, or combining them
• using repetition and routine to make growth stick
• staying in your lane by setting your speed, tone, and attitude
Welcome And The Core Reminder
SPEAKER_00Welcome to a mindful moment. Thanks for taking a moment to join me. At the front of M2B Fitness, we have a wall hanging that has a bunch of daily reminders. And one of those reminders is it's okay to grow at your own pace. And I think that's so important that sometimes we think we need to be growing and changing at others' pace. And how do we how do we do that with others' pace? Because don't we see a lot of other people doing things on social media that we think we're not going as fast or we're not doing what they're doing? And really we have to remember that everybody is at a different place, a different place in life, a different season, different experiences, all of the different things. And we have to remember that what does growing at our own pace look like? Sometimes it does take a little bit longer. Sometimes the things we're working on, maybe it's growing spiritually, maybe it's growing emotionally, maybe it's growing mentally, maybe it is growing physically, not like physically getting growing, but the physical, maybe learning more about exercise and doing different things and all the things that go into our physical well-being, our health, our wellness. I'm learning about all those things. It it takes time. And we have to realize how do we learn? It's really important too when we grow. For me, um, I have a hard time reading things and comprehending. I kind of lose my focus. And so for me, I do really well by watching things. Even if I listen, I can learn. But if I watch it and listen, I can learn much better. So a lot of things that I watch or things I use to grow mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, I watch those. Watch those maybe through YouTube, so I can see the conversations, I can see body language, I can hear the voice, I can, it just for some reason sticks with me better. There's some people that can do audiobooks. For me, an audio book, I get sidetracked, I get lost. So if I'm going to do an audiobook, I also have to get the book because I have to follow along in the book as the audio is going. For me, the same thing. If I just read the book, I get lost. I kind of forget what I read. If I listen to it, I get doing something else, and I forget, oh yeah, I was supposed to be listening to that. But if I can engage my eyes along with my ears, it in it it makes my brain work a little bit better. So I have to stay engaged with the words and audible and what's on the page. So for me, it helps me to do that more. Some people can just read it or they can listen to it and retain it. For me, it's a little bit different. So encourage you and challenge you. Grow at your own pace. And what does that look like? It may not look like everybody else that you see. You may have your own unique style of how you grow, how you become better. Maybe it takes a little bit longer. Maybe you have to do things over and over. You have to have a set routine. Um, you can't just do it once and go, okay, that helps me. You have to listen to it or hear it or watch it or do it over and over and over for it to start to take root, start to take hold in your growth process. So I just want to challenge you to recognize that it's okay to grow at your own pace. Do what works for you. Your pace is your pace. It's uh it's kind of like staying in your lane. There's other lanes out there that may be going much faster, may be going much slower. But what can you do in your lane? How can you grow at your own pace? Your lane, you get to set the speed. You get to set the tone, you get to set the attitude. So the challenge simply is grow at your own pace. Silence the noise and grow at your own pace. Thanks for joining me on this week's Mindful Moment. I look forward to seeing you right here next time on a Mindful Moment.
