The Flow Protocols - a Podcast by Cat Howell

Everything you seek exists in the now

Cat Howell Season 1 Episode 69

It's impossible to be searching for something (ie: more freedom, more confidence, more freedom) while perceptive of its existence at the same time. You only search because you wish to find it.

But what if everything you desired was already right in front of your eyes, you're just not receiving it?

On this episode I share a recent experience of perceptive illusions and a shortcut to manifesting what we seek into reality.

Speaker 1:

<silence> So, have you ever had this experience where you're searching for a solution to a problem or a challenge? And when this solution presents itself, it was right in front of your eyes the whole time, like coffee being poured overhead, the light bulb moment happens, and the first thought is, how did I miss this to begin with? Well, I experienced one of these moments just this past week. I had a client fly into New Zealand, and the inspiration that came was to attend a three day dance festival. And before we headed off to this festival, we set an intention that we would manifest essentially an orange umbrella. This was an exercise that I'd done before when I attended my first Dr . Joe Dispenza retreat back in 2018. This was something he encouraged us to do over the, I think it was four days, essentially, think of an object , um, intention, it, see it in your mind clearly, and then release your attachment to it. So I had done that for an orange candy cane. Obviously, as you can tell a theme, I like the color orange <laugh>. And it had actually manifested itself in the small Spanish town where the retreat was taking place. So we repeated this exercise for the festival and because it, and we told ourselves, if we saw this orange umbrella, it would be a communication from the universe, God, whatever self that life loves us and is looking after us. And because it was something menial, it was easy for us to release our attachment to it. It was just play. It was just fun. We didn't need this in order to validate a sense of being and confidence in this world and know who we are as individuals. And in many ways, that is kind of the key to manifestation. But that's a side note and conversation for another discussion. Detachment is really important part of the process. It's also the hardest. So practicing with little things like this can be a good way to develop that muscle. Anyways, on the first day, we didn't, we saw a lot of umbrellas, but nothing close to the color orange. And then on the second day, we started to see these umbrellas that were bordering on the verge of orange. So there was one that was, you know, yellow. It was leaning towards yellow. It wasn't quite orange that we were looking for. And then another one that was like this burnt brown color. It was so, so close. But we knew what we were looking for and we knew this wasn't it. And we also told ourselves that

Speaker 2:

These were threads proof that that which we desired was coming closer and closer and closer into our periphery. And lo and behold, we <laugh> . So we actually happened to take some acid during this time at the festival, and we were sitting by the river, it was in nature, and then in the hammocks under the shelter of the trees. And it was the complete sensation of release and gratitude and love for the moment. We were really in the present moment. And low and behold, this yellow, this orange umbrella, makes itself known. And it was literally hanging from a tree less than two meters away. It had been there the whole day. Not only that, we had been in the same spot many times before over the past two days and had never spotted it . And this made me realize and remember, and , uh, think about something that I was reading at the time. So I started reading the book , uh, E Squared by Pam Grout, and it is about how our thoughts create our reality. And in this specific section of the book, she's talking about how we're receiving billions of information signals every single day, and our brain is processing a huge amount of that. But not everything is just too much. And so we use pattern recognition software to help us navigate this reality. But in actual fact, everything that you desire already exists in the here and now, and allowing yourself to receive that is an exercises in perceiving it, opening up your , your third eye, if you will , <laugh> opening up your level of awareness so you can actually spot that. So one of the things that we slip into very easily is that we, we start to tell the last episode I recorded, for example, was around finding your purpose. Now, one of the things I didn't really touch on on that episode is that so long as you are trying to find something, whether it's purpose or abundance or freedom or a sense of independence or confidence or self-assuredness, it means that you're not perceptive to it. You don't see it, right? You're searching for it because you don't see it. So the two cannot exist at the same time. If you're searching for more freedom, it means you're blind to the freedom that's already in front of you. Learning how to see those, not only the emotional greens, but the manifestation of those greens in physical reality begins by teaching us how to, how to spot it and get excited and be with it. When we were noticing the brown or umbrella of verging on the, on the verge of orange, we were in celebration, we were aware of it. We, we , we placed our focus on it, and we were with that moment that it was getting closer and closer. And obviously when the orange umbrella made itself known, that was a lot of play. It was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful moment. It's even funnier than that is after we found that orange umbrella, we were camping and we had these neighbors camping next to us who had heard the story of the orange umbrella. And so we went back to our tents and we're just hanging out, and the neighbor walks up with the very same orange, orange umbrella. They had spotted it as well, untied it and brought it to the camp. So it was like the universe really wanting to make itself known. And that's how I received it. And that's how we start to compound those experiences that match that which we desire is through our very focus point. But oftentimes, we're running off these, this pattern recognition software. It's our modus operandi. We're seeing the gap, the lack, the things that are not there, the things that are not quite right. Our brains are high hardwired to focus on problems and challenges because biologically, that is a very effective way to keep the, the body alive. It doesn't take mental health into consideration. And so if we're going to attempt any kind of manifestation for ourselves, this begins first by recognizing we can't be searching for it and perce be perceptive of it at the same time it's one or the other. We have to start noticing that which we desire in the here and now, because now is the only time that really exists. If you're waiting for tomorrow or six months when X, y , Z happens, or dah , dah , dah , dah , dah , you're gonna be waiting a long time. You're descending yourself away from this truth that it's just in the now seeing it in the now. And that's how you begin to compound those experiences. So this was one exercise actually that , uh, well, I haven't read the whole book yet. I've been out. But in this book, E squared I'm talking about she shares these exercises of manifestation. And , uh, I'm sure one of them is similar to what I just described. If you are just starting to get to know your magic and you're not confident

Speaker 3:

In it, or you're doubting, you're forgetting yourself, your true creative powers, then start with these little things. Forget about the big business goals. Forget about the big career goals or the big relationship goals, these things that are too hard for you to release, detachment around. Start by calling into your reality, small, meaningless things that you can practice, detachment around, and just really be in the moment when they show up. Don't discard it. Don't brush it aside as coincidence. Don't say it was, you know , um, just a fluke of luck. Really receive that experience. Really be with it. Really remember yourself in that moment. And as you begin to do this, you'll develop the, the courage and the knowhow, the , the, you'll tap into this deep knowing space of yourself that you're capable of doing this on all levels, not just with meaningless umbrellas or things like that. So that is my story of the orange umbrella and what I've been to up to in the last week. And I wanted to share that with you because it was a pretty big, beautiful lesson. It was, ugh , it was so delicious to experience this. And it did make me think about not only the, the importance of practicing detachment around our goals and our intentions, but also at how our perception is really what ultimately creates our experience of reality.
