97: Meg Eckert - the superpower of endless patience; EVERYTHING as a learning experience; ubiquitous volunteer; you can only be where you are at
It's as if we have known each other for years and just caught up where we left off.
That's how it felt the first time I met Meg.
And even in this podcast, we agree that it was like friends catching up.
I LOVE it when that happens!
Meg is a middle school teacher, a high school xc and track coach, a partner, a friend, an encourager, an impactor, a volunteer-who-drives-uhauls-and-goes-up-rocky-dirt-roads-and-is-ubiquitous-at-races, a bright yellow light, an ultrarunner and a world record holder.
We chat about:
A beautiful picture from a kiddo she taught her first year.
Going into coaching to be able to provide something she didn't have.
Creating a positive environment for kids to learn about a healthy lifestyle.
Superpowers.
Breaking everything into smaller steps.
Hopi Distance Project.
The importance of strength training.
Some of the toughest races are the best lessons.
Flexible view on failure: what can you take from the "failures".
Connected and teeny tiny.
Meg volunteers everywhere all the time!! She is the ubiquitous volunteer. Not only does she do these incredible races, but she shows up in a different way as a support for others.
Community and showing up for each other through volunteering and giving back.
You can only be where you are at.
Yes, Meg wins and podiums at long, hard races. She is a world record holding ultrarunner. What stands out to me about her, though, is how she shows up in the world beyond the races. Go, Meg, GO!!!
Find Meg on IG @_megeckert to see all the ways she shows up in the world.
