When Was Your Last Perfect Moment of Rest?

Sally Season 1 Episode 129

Send us a text

Ever felt the gentle sway of a hammock by a riverside? Today's guided visualization takes you on that journey of rest and renewal.

Summer brings a natural invitation to play, and we're leaning into that energy with our "Play it Forward" series. As your host Sally Burlington, I'm guiding you through alternating weeks of nature-based visualizations and whimsical storytime readings—all designed to help you reconnect with that lighthearted, childlike spirit we so often lose in the hustle of adult responsibilities.

Episode 129 features our Hammock Guided Visualization, where you'll drift into a peaceful riverside setting. Feel the gentle breeze, hear the trickling water and chirping birds, and allow your body to settle into perfect comfort as the hammock cradles you. This brief but powerful mindfulness practice centers around our breathing mantra: "breathe in possibility, breathe out gratitude." In just a few minutes, you'll experience how intentional rest can transform your energy.

The beauty of "playing it forward" lies in how this renewed energy doesn't stay with you alone—it naturally overflows to everyone you encounter. When we take these moments to breathe and be present, we bring a different quality of attention to our relationships and responsibilities. As summer unfolds, join us in this rhythm of playfulness and presence. The world needs more of both.

Speaker 2:

Welcome back to Create Harmony. This is a podcast about setting an intentional rhythm. It's all about savoring God's blessings.

Speaker 2:

And in this place. We just take a few minutes to celebrate everyday joys, things that are around us all the time, and we try to notice that goodness all the time and we try to notice that goodness. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to overlook these small but significant sources of happiness. So this is episode 129 and I'm your host, sally Burlington, and so what we're doing this summer we're in the summer season right now in where I live in North Carolina, and what we're doing for the summer season right now in where I live in North Carolina, and what we're doing for the summer is that we're doing a series called Play it Forward, and each time I say it I'm saying play P-L-A-Y, not pay, play it forward. So we are tuning in to the spirit of play that summer is all about. We're trying to be more fun, loving and more lighthearted and more whimsical and just really embracing the spirit of play, with the hopes that if you raise your energy to that level, that that excitement and energy will overflow out of you after you've listened to this podcast and you're feeling playful and uplifted, that it will overflow out of you and touch all the people around you and the world around you because life can be pretty heavy and pretty serious. So we're going to lighten up around here and we are doing this Play it Forward series. So the rhythm of Play it Forward is that every other week we do one of two things. The first week we were doing a guided visualization, and all of the guided visualizations are nature themed or something that has to do with a sort of a summer feel. And then on the opposite weeks we are having story time and we're reading like a whimsical children's story and really channeling the energy of your inner child. So this week we have another guided visualization and it is called the hammock guided visualization. So we're going to lean into being restful and calm in our hammock. So it's time for us now to shift into our more mindful posture. So if you'll do that now, you just what you do in order to do that is to think about your body, try to make any adjustments so you can be more comfortable wherever you are. Whatever you're doing, you can keep doing that, but try to think about the tension you have in your body and loosen that out, release that, shake your body a little bit, take a deep breath, breathe in possibilities and breathe out gratitude. If it makes sense for you to close your eyes, you can do that now and now.

Speaker 2:

Picture that you are walking up to a hammock hanging between two trees. This hammock is hanging beside a gently flowing river and the sun is shining down onto the water as it flows gently by. And once you get beside the hammock you're going to lie down for a rest. Your whole body sinks down into the soft, cozy hammock, sway lightly back and forth, back and forth in the hammock. There's a fluffy pillow behind your head. You feel a breeze blowing over you.

Speaker 2:

As you enjoy lying there, you can hear the water of the river trickling nearby. Birds are chirping in the trees overhead. You take a deep breath of the crisp, clean air around you. You feel serene and calm. As you lie there, your body fits naturally into the curve of the hammock for the sunshine. You feel gratitude for the chance to rest by the riverside. The leaves rustle in the trees overhead and you enjoy that soft sound. The day is warm and pleasant. You look over at the river and see a leaf slowly floating on the top of the water. The water is calm. You feel at peace. Make the peace part of who you are, sink down into the hammock and gently sway from side to side, feel the breeze and the sunshine.

Speaker 2:

And now our time in the hammock is drawing to a close, Begin to bring your awareness back to where you started. Take a deep breath, breathe in possibility and breathe out gratitude breath, breathe in possibility and breathe out gratitude. And if you closed your eyes at the beginning, you can open them now and come back into your body. May it be so. Thanks so much for joining us today as we rested and relaxed in our hammocks together, and thanks for participating in our play it forward series. Hopefully, the energy you took away from that resting will bless you and bless everyone around you as you move through your day. We hope you'll come back next week We'll have another story and we'll be childing instead of adulting when we are going through our Play it Forward series and hope you'll be back then too. And until next time, peace, thank you.
