Glowing in Darkness

What happens when we allow ourselves to shine like fireflies in a darkening world? Today's guided visualization takes you on a magical journey as we transform into lightning bugs whose inner light glows strongest during twilight transitions.

The Create Harmony podcast celebrates everyday joys amidst our fear-based, conflict-oriented world by drawing inspiration from nature's wisdom. Our summer "Play it Forward" series alternates between soothing guided visualizations and nostalgic children's storytime readings—all designed to help you rediscover childlike wonder in your adult life.

During this visualization, you'll experience the gentle flutter of firefly wings carrying you through summer evenings. You'll feel the rhythmic blinking of your light—blink, blink, blink—illuminating everything around you. As darkness deepens, your radiance grows stronger, creating constellations of possibility in the night. The visualization reminds us that sometimes our light appears in glimpses, visible only to those paying close attention, yet capable of brightening even the darkest spaces.

The beauty of fireflies lies in their paradox: the darker their surroundings, the more brilliant their light becomes. What a perfect metaphor for human resilience! By the end of this short meditation, you'll bring this inner illumination back into your daily life, carrying possibilities with each inhale and gratitude with every exhale.

Speaker 2:

Welcome back to the Create Harmony podcast. So right here is a place we celebrate everyday joys and pay attention to all the good things that are happening around us. It's a little harder to do that in our fear-based, conflict-oriented world, and we really try to take our inspiration from nature and see all of the glory that is out there. We really relish the changes of the season. This is a place of creativity and introspection, but don't worry, everyone is welcome to join in and you can find your place here. You can also take a few minutes to lift your spirits and find some fun in your everyday routine. So we are so glad you joined. We're continuing on in a series that we are calling Play it Forward and notice that I said play P-L-A-Y, not P-A-Y, and the idea is, you know, this world is pretty serious and when we're doing our regular adult things, we have to be like real serious and get things done and productivity minded and we forget what it was like to be childlike. And we're doing this in the summer because the summer is a playful season of the year. It's the time where we go to backyard barbecues and pool parties and, you know, vacations and trips and all kinds of playful things, and so we've decided to play it forward this summer by adopting some really playful content. We're doing a rhythm back and forth between one week I lead you in a guided visualization and it's usually a very lighthearted nature inspired guided visualization and the idea is that you would calm your spirit and sort of center your mind by listening along and then the next week we have what I call story time, and it is literally just like it sounds. I am reading a children's book to you. I've got a whole collection of children's books that I've selected for this summer and I've been reading them aloud, just like when you were in kindergarten and you sat on the carpet and you listen to a story. You'll hear me turning the pages and you'll be envisioning all the different parts of the story in your mind as I read. So today we are doing one of our guided visualizations. So we're going to shift ourselves into our more mindful posture now so that we can get ready for our guided visualization.

Speaker 2:

And the way that you want to do that is just get into a comfortable position. Whatever you're doing, you can continue doing that, but you wanna try to think about being comfortable and at least being mentally still, even if your body is not gonna be still right now, just sort of settle yourself. Make any adjustments you need so that you can be comfortable and can settle down for a minute. I always remind people to release tension that you think that you can be comfortable and can settle down for a minute. I always remind people to release tension that you think that you might be holding. We're all probably holding a lot of tension in our bodies, even tension that we can't feel. But sometimes just thinking about that tension can help you release it from your body, legs and your feet and your shoulders and your jaw I mean, for me it's my neck and my jaw. So shake out that tension. You can go ahead and do that right now, and if it makes sense for you to close your eyes while I'm guiding you, you can do that right now as well.

Speaker 2:

We need to take a deep breath. I want you to breathe in possibilities and breathe out gratitude. And now we're going to pretend that we are a group of fireflies, or maybe we're going to call ourselves lightning bugs. We rest all during the day and we come out during the transition. When day turns to night, when the light of the afternoon begins to fade, we begin to fly. We begin to fly and our wings are fluttering, carrying us all around.

Speaker 3:

We're buzzing and flying in a creative pattern, and we have light nestled inside our very bodies and that light begins to come to life.

Speaker 2:

Blink, blink, blink we flicker and we glow, we light up everything around us.

Speaker 3:

Blink, blink, blink, blink, blink.

Speaker 2:

The darker it gets, the more our light radiates. You can see us glowing in the summer night sky.

Speaker 3:

Blink, blink.

Speaker 2:

Blink Light is part of our very being.

Speaker 3:

We carry it with us wherever we go. Blink, blink.

Speaker 2:

Blink, blink. Sometimes our light is only seen in a glimpse. Only those who are paying attention see it. Only those who seek us can spot our lights. We twinkle like stars in the night sky.

Speaker 3:

Blink, blink, blink, twinkle, like stars in the night sky, blink, blink blink, we light up even the darkest of spaces.

Speaker 2:

Now my fireflies begin to bring your awareness back to the place we started. Bring it back into your body, but bring the light of the firefly with you. Take a final deep breath, breathe, breathe in possibilities and breathe out gratitude, and if you closed your eyes at the beginning, you can open them. Now we're all back together on the podcast, thank you. So thanks for listening in as we went through our firefly or lightning bug guided visualization and hopefully that lifted your spirits and made you feel filled with light, and hopefully that light will go out to the world around you and everybody that you come in contact with today.

Speaker 2:

hope you'll come back next week as we continue through our Play it Forward series and we have a story time no-transcript.
