welcome to This Week in fitness by ATF W where we crunch the latest fitness business headlines all in under 5 minutes I'm your host Chrissy Van and here's what's making news we start with a major brand consolidation in fitness and wellness tech Mindbody has launched playlist a new parent brand that now unites Mindbody Booker and Class Pass CEO Fritz Landman says the goal is to build a unified platform for experience driven businesses leveraging shared infrastructure and AI powered tools with a network spanning over 40,000 mind body powered businesses and 73,000 Class pass partners in 30 countries this move is about scale and synergy positioning playlist as a backbone for the wellness economy Class Pass itself is also expanding into new territory through a partnership with Wework Class Pass users can now book workspaces at over 100 global locations using their Class Pass credits this taps into a 44% surge in Classpass reservations over the past year and speaks to the demand for hybrid workspaces that integrate wellness and productivity shifting to boutique fitness Arqueta has raised 15 million in Series a funding to bring enterprise grade tech to smaller studios CEO Rachel Lee Fishman says the aim is to help boutique operators level up with better booking marketing and customer engagement closing the gap as the boutique fitness sector heads towards $80 billion by 2029 meanwhile ifit has partnered with Exponential Fitness to bring Club Pilates and yoga 6 classes to its digital library this partnership gives ifit members more variety and a boutique quality feel right from home complementing its existing library of outdoor and studio classes Gold's Gym is also stepping into the performance based training game they've teamed up with High Rocks to open North America's first High Rocks Performance Center in Dallas featuring official equipment specialized group classes and competition level coaching it's a clear signal that functional fitness and competition style training are becoming core offerings in big box gyms The Health and Fitness Association is making waves this week too submitting formal comments to the US Department of Commerce opposing proposed Section 2 32 tariffs on fitness equipment like dumbbells kettlebells and resistance machines HFA says these tariffs would raise costs across the board impacting small businesses schools hospitals and home users and directly contradict public health goals data from the HFA shows that exercise equipment imports have actually declined since 2019 not surged like the steel industry claims with the fitness industry contributing over $22 billion to the economy and employing 434,000 people HFA's message to Commerce is clear these tariffs would hurt the very businesses and communities working to keep America active and healthy in health tech Eli Health has raised 12 million in Series a funding to launch the hormometer the world's first instant hormone test the hormometer works with saliva samples to provide real time insights into key hormones like cortisol especially relevant as 60% of adults report hormone related symptoms the tool is designed to help people make daily decisions based on their body's live data feed with no labs or waiting Global Wellness Day is back on June 14th bringing together 170 countries with its Reconnect Magenta campaign from yoga sessions to digital detoxes the focus is on wellness as a right not a luxury urging people to pause and reconnect with themselves their communities and nature and finally Burn Boot Camp's ninth annual Be Their Muscle campaign raised over $465,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association with events at more than 300 locations nationwide and even a kids hopathon this campaign shows how the fitness community can rally around causes that extend far beyond the workout floor that's a wrap on This Week in fitness by ATF W I'm your host Chrissy Van and remember stay fit stay informed and keep your fitness business in shape
