welcome to This Week in fitness where we crunch the latest fitness business headlines all in under 5 minutes I'm your host Chrissy Van and here's what's making news we start with P Evolve which is accelerating its national expansion the company has signed five new studio leases adding locations in San Francisco Pleasantville Scottsdale San Antonio and Louisville bevolve now operates nearly 30 studios and expects to reach 40 by the end of 2025 backed by a hybrid model that blends in studio training with streaming and digital content the brand continues to seek franchise partners in high growth markets in international news Gold's Gym has signed a master franchise agreement to open 60 locations in Brazil over the next decade the first flagship is scheduled for 2026 the company says the deal is part of a broader push to add more than 200 gyms worldwide including expansion plans in Argentina Colombia Chile and Mexico back in the US Exponential Fitness has appointed Rachel Lee to its board of directors she will also join the company's governance committee Lee brings nearly two decades of experience in finance and private equity along with a track record of service on growth focused company boards meanwhile in Los Angeles boutique fitness operators are taking collective action with Boutique Fitness Loyalty Month throughout September participating studios are encouraging members to book directly rather than through third party apps which organizers say have created challenges for independent gyms the effort includes promotions community events and neighborhood studio triathlons on the resort side Canyon Ranch Tucson has been nominated for the inaugural Michelin Wellness Award it is the only property in the Americas recognized among five global finalists the award honors hotels that integrate health fitness and lifestyle into the guest experience with winners to be announced October 8th lifetime is also expanding its in club offerings completing its 55th Work Lounge with more than 30 more planned through next year these spaces provide members with areas to work or meet inside existing athletic clubs extending time on site 10 locations now feature premium lounges with added services such as conference rooms and collaboration areas and finally a race where the reward isn't a medal but a croissant more than 5,000 people have entered the lottery for the first ever NYC Bakery Run the half Marathon set for September 21st will give 100 runners the chance to move through eight of the city's most talked about bakeries participants will finish with pastries instead of prizes from cardamom buns to classic croissants registration is open until September 10th and winners will be drawn on the twelfth and that's This Week in fitness by ATF W I'm your host Chrissy Van and remember stay fit stay informed and keep your fitness business in shape
