welcome to This Week in fitness by ATF W where we crunch the latest fitness business headlines all in under five minutes I'm your host Chrissy Van and here's what's making news Crunch Fitness is expanding its Crunch 3.0 Club model with new boutique style training spaces and additional recovery amenities the latest editions include dedicated Pilates strength training boxing and Core Focus studios along with expanded recovery offerings such as contrast therapy infrared saunas and red light therapy according to the company the new concepts are designed to give franchisees greater flexibility while allowing members to access more specialized training experiences under a traditional gym membership the rollout begins this summer with Crunch Reform Pilates debuting other concepts including the Pump Strength Training Studio and Spar Boxing Studio are expected to follow at future locations the expansion comes as more operators continue blending traditional gym memberships with boutique fitness and recovery offerings E Gym has updated its bio age fitness indicator and introduced a new longevity focus training program the updated bio age calculation uses data from millions of workouts completed across the egym network along with revised age based benchmarks and sports science research to assess strength cardiovascular fitness metabolism and flexibility alongside the update egym has launched a new longevity training program that combines strength cardiovascular exercise and mobility through egym Genius AI and its Smart Strength and Smart Cardio equipment the company says the program is designed to support muscle mass bone density mobility and cardiovascular performance as members age members will retain access to their previous bio age history with the updated calculations applied after their next assessment Nike and hyperice are expanding their wearable recovery partnership with the launch of the Nike Air Zoom Hyper Slide the Recovery Sandal combines a Nike Air Zoom sole with a removable hyperice pod that delivers heat and vibration across the top of the foot the product follows the launch of the hyperboot which hyperice says exceeded its launch day sales forecast by 176% and generated more than $10 million in revenue during its first eight months on the market the Air Zoom Hyper Slide will be available beginning September 29th through Nike Hyperace and select retail partners strong Pilates is continuing its international expansion through a new master franchise agreement in central and Eastern Europe the agreement with Polish operator Extreme Brands will initially bring strong Pilates to Poland and the Czech Republic increasing the brand's presence to 16 countries Extreme Brands currently operates 189 Extreme Fitness gyms locations and says it's opening approximately three new clubs every week the company has also announced plans to grow to 750 locations across central and Eastern Europe by 2030 with strong Pilates becoming part of that expansion the city of Atlanta is encouraging residents to make the city itself their gym a new public health initiative called Make Atlanta your Own Gym is promoting the use of more than 300 parks trails and public spaces for physical activity according to the Georgia Department of Public Health nearly $1 billion is spent each year on healthcare costs related to physical inactivity in the state the initiative aims to encourage walking running cycling and outdoor recreation as part of everyday life while supporting broader efforts to improve public health and finally a new survey suggests that while health tracking has become part of everyday life it may also be contributing to feelings of stress for some consumers the survey commissioned by mattress and bedding company naturepedic found that 64% of Americans track at least one health metric every day while 58% say they feel overwhelmed by the amount of health advice and optimization content they encounter more than one third of respondents also said that they'd stopped using a health tracking device or app because it negatively affected their mental well being weight physical activity hydration and sleep were the most commonly monitored metrics the findings are based on self reported survey responses and were commissioned by naturepedic they do not establish that health tracking technology directly causes stress or poor sleep that's all for This Week in fitness by ATF W I'm your host Chrissy Van and remember stay fit stay informed and keep your fitness business in shape
