George Horne, better known as TheTinMen, is a writer and advocate whose work challenges the way society talks about men and boys, from suicide, loneliness, education and fatherhood, to male victimhood, abuse, homelessness and the blind spots in modern gender discourse. His work pushes back against the idea that caring about men’s issues must come at the expense of caring about women’s, and asks why it is still so difficult to speak openly about the unique challenges facing boys and men without apology, suspicion or stigma.
Join Big Bros, Jeremy and Ilan, as they sit down with George to unpack the alarming statistics behind the issues facing men and boys, and how the cultural narratives around masculinity, male vulnerability and male responsibility may be helping those problems continue.
Expect to learn what George really thinks about the manosphere, why many men’s mental health campaigns still fall short, whether he has become disillusioned with the left’s treatment of men, the most alarming statistics about men and boys that society continues to ignore, why catching up with your mates for tea can genuinely be lifesaving, how the public conversation around incels has become a modern moral panic, why psychotherapy often fails to meet men where they are, how male distress is too often treated as a problem to manage rather than suffering to understand, and much more!
