Welcome back to the podcast. If you are new here, I'm Rae, I'm a somatic coach and breathwork facilitator, and if you aren't new here, welcome back. I'm so glad that you're tuning in for today's episode. So I do have a few updates before we dive into our episode for today, and the first is that usually this time of year and something that I've talked about on the podcast for the past few episodes is a vision board workshop that I host. I usually host one virtually and then also in person vision board workshop that I host. I usually host one virtually and then also in person, and this year just wasn't in the cards for me after being sick for two weeks and then our house flooded and it was just a whole initiation of sorts coming into 2025 for me. So, instead of hosting a group workshop, I'm offering one-on-one intensives, and what I'm calling these is clarity and vision creation intensives. So this is something that I might offer all year round, because sometimes I feel like just having a nice refresh and to really get grounded and connected to what your vision is. Anytime that you might be feeling a little lost or just desiring more clarity, maybe whatever that looks like for you, I think it's something that could help all year round. I don't think necessarily it needs to be something that's done in January, so I might offer them all year round, but for right now I'm offering them for the month of January and also for the month of February, and I'll share a little bit more about what those actually entail in a few minutes here. So the second thing I want to share with you is that I'm also going on vacation for a little bit, which I'm so excited for. So next week I'll be in Costa Rica and because of that I've been getting a lot of requests to book February sessions in advance, because a lot of my time in January was blocked off because I'm going to be on vacation. So I opened up the February dates early. Normally I open up booking on the first of each month, but this month I did it early so you can now log on to any of those booking sites or booking links, I should say, for your clarity and vision creation intensive, for one-on-one breathwork or for one-on-one coaching. So if either of those interests you, you can now book those for February. And then, yeah, I just wanted to share a little bit more about what you can expect from the vision intensives.

Speaker 1:

So one thing that I did personally every year I also create some sort of vision board or prayer board or a vision journal. It's something that I really enjoy doing and it's like a fun creative process that you get to just kind of take a step back and say, okay, what do I want for this year, for three years from now, for five, for 10 years from now? It doesn't really matter. Like you get to choose what you want to create for your vision, but it's nice to have clarity around you know, whatever is important to you in this season of life, and when you have clarity around those things, that makes dreaming and envisioning so much more fun and also a little bit easier too also a little bit easier too. So, for me, what I did this year is I got really clear on my personal core values and so I create. I chose five words, but it's really six words because five was just like I couldn't fit it all in and I made definitions for each of those words for myself and like what they mean to me, and I will share with you now what I chose. So I feel like sharing these core values that I came up with will be really helpful for giving you kind of an idea of what, maybe how our values might be different and also how they might be exciting and like expiring for you, because it will bring you more clarity when you do yours.

Speaker 1:

So the first one that came for me was loving compassion. So that really looks like to me treating myself and others with grace, with compassion, and also my relationships. So having a loving relationship with myself, with my husband, with my friends, with my family, and really being able to lead my life, my business, but my personal life from an open heart, so from a place of loving compassion. The second value that was important to me was nature, and so the definition of that one for me was getting outside, really being able to see and feel the textures of nature, and also it's kind of like a play on words, but being aligned with, like my true nature, so really observing and understanding how I'm always connected and in flow with myself and also the seasons of nature. So so I'm a very, you know, seasonal person. I like to ebb and flow with life, and so that kind of ties into that self-compassion but also just like, yeah, nature in general.

Speaker 1:

And then the next one for me was adventure. And so adventure to me, yes, this looks like traveling and seeing new places, exploring, discovering, being in newness, connecting with different cultures, different people, whether that's you know, through trips or adventures, or people or places or things. But it also could mean like trying a new food or going to a new coffee shop or listening to a new album, like just having this sense of adventure and curiosity. So those kind of both go hand in hand for me feels really good and freeing and exciting to me. And then my next one was health. So health to me looks like physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. It looks like getting good sleep. Sleep. I work out. I go to the gym three times a week. I'm always moving my body, I'm making sure that I take my vitamins, I'm making sure that I'm really taking care of myself so that I can show up in my life, I can show up in my work, I can show up in my relationships, my business, from a place that feels really resourced, and sometimes, you know, we're not gonna always like nail it. Yeah, that is definitely one of my core values, for sure.

Speaker 1:

And then the last one I couldn't pick just five, so I'm doing six, but it's supposed to be your top five is connection, and connection to me means really being in exchange with other people, being in communication, being in community with others, whether that's in person, online, in life, at work, in business, like whatever that looks like. I think connection is so huge. It's something that we're doing right now, right here. This is a way for me to connect with you. This is a way for me to create community, and that's probably why I enjoy podcasting as much as I do. It's just another place for me to be in exchange with other people. So, to recap, my core values are love and compassion, nature, health, adventure, connection and creativity.

Speaker 1:

And as I recap that, I realized I did not say creativity, so that I guess is my sixth one. I must have gone out of order. Yeah, so creativity to me is also kind of what I'm doing on the podcast right now, but it's really being able to express myself freely. Being able to express myself freely, being able to create art every day, whether it's just how I create my life, or if it's writing, or if it's creating a caption, or if it's podcasting, or if it's just being an entrepreneur and being creative in my business and how I show up for people and how I support people. So creativity to me feels really fun, feels really like liberating, and I love it. Yeah, so those are my, those are my six Love and compassion, nature, creativity, adventure, health and connection. And so now I will take those core values, those six core values, and from that place is where I will create my vision. And so creating my vision for me is going to look like a mixture of magazine clippings. It's going to be on a poster board. I'm also going to create like an expressive art piece, so whether that's with like charcoal or markers or colored pencils, like whatever that's going to look like, but it's going to be kind of like a mishmash of everything on one big sheet of paper, one big poster board. So I'm really excited for that and that is exactly what I will be walking you through in a one-on-one.

Speaker 1:

Creation and vision intensive or, yeah, creation and vision intense. No, clarity and vision creation intensive that is what it's called. So if you are feeling lost or if you are feeling even just inspired or totally uncertain and you feel like you have like shiny object syndrome, that is absolutely okay. There is no shame in the game of giving yourself the time and space to find out what works for you and trying new things on for size to see what does or doesn't work for you. So I'm really excited to offer these sessions and I can't wait to support you.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so, moving into today's topic for today's episode is routines. So that's morning routine, evening routine and why these are so helpful for really supporting you in what your vision might be and what your intention might be for this year, for three years, five, 10, whatever that looks like. So I'm a big fan of morning routines Personally. I absolutely love them. It's what gives me structure and the ability to get what I want done before the day starts. It's kind of also like my personal me time. It's quiet and usually if I'm moving through something I'm not as triggered or emotional yet in the morning. So that is why I personally like morning routines so much.

Speaker 1:

So having something that keeps you grounded, like a morning routine, will give you a space where you can really be with your own energy. So we don't know what the day ahead will hold, we don't know what's going to happen. Your boss could piss you off, you could get in an argument with a friend, but this morning routine is time for you, and I believe that all of that time that you spend regulating your nervous system, being with yourself and getting curious about what you might need, I believe that that time compounds over time, and so it's kind of like if we have a glass of water and our water is, you know, our resourced energy, the energy that makes us resilient and maybe more emotionally resilient or just more resilient throughout our day. I believe that these morning routines and this time that you spend with you fills up that cup with more water, and so you're not walking around with an empty cup, and what's awesome is that you can create your morning routine in a way that feels good for you. So this could include moving your body. This could include meditation, taking your vitamins, meal prep. It can include so many different like self-care, wellness things, whether that's like red light therapy or, um, reading your favorite book, it could be, you know. So many different things could go into your morning routine, but it's important to get curious for yourself around, like what would feel really good for you to feel grounded and resourced for your day, and it could also not include some things. So maybe this is the time like before you check any emails, before you respond to any text messages and before you get on any social media. That's like a big one for me, because so many things are accessible on our phone and I use a lot of different like meditation and breathwork apps on my phone, so I'm always conscious like I'm not signing on to socials or checking my emails or anything. If something's urgent, they will reach out to me until I finish my morning routine. So it's something I try and be pretty strict about. So if you took a few minutes today to plan out your morning routine, what would you put on there? What would be some of your non-negotiables?

Speaker 1:

My morning routine looks like I like to move my body in some way. So I go to the gym three times a week in the morning and then on the other days, if it's warm out, I'll go for a walk or I'll do yoga, you know, in my room, or literally anything to just like move my body in some way. That seems to be really important to me. I'll do breath work, meditation, journaling. Sometimes I'll have a cup of cacao, like this morning I'm recording this it's Friday morning so I did like a little cacao before I hopped on here and I did some journaling and I did some writing and I also like to make sure that I take my vitamins. So that is very important to me. And I find, too, that there are two days of the week that I get to have kind of like a longer morning for me, so there's more room to like be creative and fit everything in, and other mornings it's literally like a five minute breath work and I'm like all right on with my day, like I don't have time as much time in the morning to kind of have like a longer practice to like fit everything in and I, like I said earlier, I don't think that it's necessarily a bad thing.

Speaker 1:

I think all of the time that you're putting into really being with yourself compounds over time and it's a place that you can pull from in the future. So two questions that you can ask yourself is in the morning is like, how are you hoping to feel? So maybe you're hoping to feel joy or grounded or safe, or, you know, connected, like whatever that might look like, and what do you need today? And is there anything that needs tending to? So anything that feels left unfinished? So those are a few questions that you can ask yourself in your morning routine. If you're doing something more mindful, based and see what comes of it, and one tool that you can use if you are just starting out and the idea of starting something new is just overwhelming to you or it just doesn't feel like it's going to be easy. It feels pretty challenging.

Speaker 1:

I tried using a habit tracker in 2024 in July. I felt like I was falling off of some of the things that I wanted to make sure I was actually doing and it was important to me just to have an idea of like, okay, what is my morning actually looking like Like what am I actually doing with my time? And so I started a little habit tracker and I only put five or six things on there. It wasn't necessarily just for mornings, but it was for things that were important to me, and I also made sure that were important to me, and I also made sure that the language was positive. So I wasn't like you know, don't go on social media, like it wasn't like that. It was like sign on to social media at 10 am, you know. So it was like I tried to use positive language and it was really helpful. I ended up doing it for a few months. I definitely recommend it if you're just starting out.

Speaker 1:

It's not something to be like super strict about. Definitely be compassionate with yourself about it. It's not about getting it perfect. It's just about giving yourself like a tool and a structure to have so that when these moments come up and you're able, then you're able to really see like okay, like how is my routine going? Am I getting the things done that are important to me to help me feel grounded and resourced and safe and happy, and all of those wonderful things?

Speaker 1:

And then maybe you are not as jazzed about morning routines and you really enjoy having an evening routine, or maybe you enjoy having both, whatever that looks like, not wanting to have a morning routine. There could be a lot of reasons for that. So sometimes your human design if you're into human design doesn't actually thrive on having some kind of structure like that. Sometimes we have other responsibilities that don't allow us to have as much structure in our morning, and sometimes neurodiversity also doesn't allow for it. So, whatever it looks like for you whether it's a morning routine, an evening routine, some options for having an evening routine you could do all different kinds of self-care activities, whether that's red light therapy, having tea, taking a longer shower. You could do journaling, meditation, breath work, stretching definitely usually more restorative exercises, because it's kind of like that wind down time.

Speaker 1:

I know for myself at times when I do an evening routine I really love those ones where I can, like reflect on my day, especially if it's been a busy day. It's like oh, wow, like I forgot that that happened this morning, like it kind of gives you that extra mindfulness and sometimes that can be really fun. And then some things to not include would be like scrolling super bright lights, eating a heavy meal, being mindful of if you're watching TV, like when you're turning it off and when you're going to sleep, things like that. So, again, checking in with yourself, seeing what works for you and really being mindful of how having this morning or evening routine would be really supportive for you. All right, so just to recap, we have our vision, intensives and core values that we went over. We talked about morning routines and evening routines and how both of these practices could be really supportive for your personal vision and really being mindful and gentle with yourself and creating something that feels supportive for you.
