Somatic Healing for Wellness-Focused Women

(#75) Life Is Happening Right Now: Presence, Inner Child Healing & Allowing Yourself to Begin Again

Rae The Somatic Coach Episode 75

In this riff episode, we explore the powerful truth that life is happening in the smallest moments—and it’s happening right now. Through personal storytelling, poetry, and reflection, you’ll be reminded of the beauty in the everyday and invited to reconnect with your inner child, your present self, and your purpose.

You’ll hear:
🌱 A special reading of the poem “Life Is Happening Right Now” — inspired by the tiny, sacred moments of everyday joy
🌱 A story from childhood and the breakthrough that came from inner child healing, breathwork, and remembering self-worth
🌱 Why we grip tightly to the past or future—and how to soften into the ebb and flow of the present
🌱 A reminder that you are already becoming the version of you you dream about—and you can begin again, in every single moment
🌱 The deeper purpose of somatic work: coming home to love, self-trust, and the truth of who you are

This is an episode about presence, permission, and choosing to live fully now—not later. Whether you're navigating change, healing old wounds, or simply needing a gentle nudge to return to yourself—this one’s for you.

Speaker 1:

And yeah, let's dive into today's episode. So I really would love to share with you this concept of present moment awareness and a consciousness shift that I've been experiencing. That, I think, is just so fun and I'm really loving it. So I wanted to share that with you and kind of just riff on this topic. And so, if you do follow me on social media, on Instagram at raythesomaticcoach, I recently shared a post about this idea that life is happening right now, and this was a writing piece that I received from a. It was inspired from a poem by this woman called Lori Wagner and she does a lot of creative writing, and she shared with us a poem of hers with the intention of inspiring us to write our own, have our own writing, and this is something just in general. I've been doing more of just writing in general and I've been loving it. It's been so much fun, it's been such a creative outlet for me. And talk about bypassing the inner critic or bypassing perfectionism. If you do any kind of creative writing and you really just like, let yourself write intuitively, that inner critic is, you know, out to lunch. So it's really, really fun. I've been loving it and I wanted to share the poem with you here as well, so I'm going to read it to you now.

Speaker 1:

Life is happening in the smallest things. It's waking up next to my husband wrapping me in a warm big hug. It's running to the store to get ingredients for matzo ball soup and my mom saying come over by 4 30 tomorrow, but we'll really be there earlier. It's gathering. It's seeing my siblings at least the ones who live close enough talking about who knows what and laughing and having a good time together. It's the smallest things. It's going to the local coffee shop and greeting now familiar faces, yet also, but perhaps now acquaintances because of how we see each other. Weekly on Fridays, it's ordering a milkshake instead of a cup of ice cream, because that's different and unusual for you and for some reason that makes it taste better. It's going for a walk down to the water just because you like to and just because you can. It's the smallest things.

Speaker 1:

Life is happening right now in the smallest things, and I share this piece of writing with you in particular. Again, if you've been following me on social media, you've probably been seeing that a lot of what I've been sharing is more just like an expression of myself and my writing. Really, I've just been sharing different writing pieces. That's what I've been doing, so it's been really fun. But, yeah, I share this with you, this concept that life is. Life is happening right now because we have these conditioned responses. You know we have these. Like if someone were to ask you how are you, you probably have a conditioned response of how you would respond. You'd say like, oh, yeah, like this, and you know I did this today. Or you know whatever it might be this and you know I did this today. Or you know whatever it might be. But what would happen if you moved as the current version of yourself today, so not the version of you from years ago, not from the inner child, not from our wounding, and if you came to the annual reflection workshop that I host every year in December? You may have heard me share about my personal biggest breakthrough in 2024, which I'd say like eight months that I really had no idea was even possible there, and it's been so amazing for me to be able to experience that. But what I can share is even you know, I grew up playing soccer competitively as a child and you know I was really freaking good, like I was.

Speaker 1:

I traveled the world. I, you know, I played in Argentina. I played in Israel. I played in college. Like this was my passion, this is like something that I really really enjoyed doing. But while I was competing as a kid, I really never thought that I was actually that good. I really never thought that I was good enough.

Speaker 1:

It's funny, it wasn't until really until I was in college and I decided in college that I knew I wasn't going to want to play after college. Like I was really eager to find out more about myself and who I was outside of this sport, and the sport was so much of my identity that I really just wanted to know myself in a different way. And so it really wasn't until college that I was like all right. Well, if this is going to be, you know, my last few years really competing and doing this thing that I like really love, then I have to like think that I'm good. I have to like think that I'm good and have as much fun as possible, and so that's what I did. Basically, it was like a decision.

Speaker 1:

I remember the day where I was like, all right, I think that this feels complete for me after my senior year of college and I think I was a sophomore at the time and I was like, all right, well, if this is the case, if that's the case, then these next two or three years need to be like the best years ever. And they were we. Like my senior year. We made it. We won our conference, we won our division, we made it to the third round of NCAAs. Like I was the captain, like I really I really went big, I really lived it up.

Speaker 1:

But anyway, I share this because I was able to discover the part, that part of myself, that part of myself that like really just didn't think I was good enough. And I got to meet with these parts of myself again and again and again through inner child work and doing breath work and connecting with the truth of who I am, the truth of who I am, that I am worthy, that I am good enough and that a sport or performance doesn't define who I am. And it was through these experiences that I learned more about my own unique inner light and my unique gifts and that we all have our inner light and we all have our purpose and then we all have our worth and that you are a beautiful orb of light with magic, and so is the next person, so is the next person, and it's like we all have our own magic. And that's why I really love inner child healing and breath work so much, because it returns me back to myself, back to love, it removes the illusion that we're so conditioned to experience, we're so conditioned with these responses.

Speaker 1:

And what would happen if you allowed yourself the permission to begin again, to start fresh and begin again and begin again and begin again. And you know, take the time and the space, yes, to heal the past wounding and meet those inner child needs, and take moment, that time with yourself, yes, of course, and then, from that place of feeling whole and feeling complete, then move forward, because you are already doing the things that this, if there is like a dream or a passion of yours or a way of being that you want to be, you are already on your way there. I always say you're already on the path, you're already doing the thing. And so, yes, sometimes we need to do the deeper work to get there.

Speaker 1:

Yes, those moments will happen, but can you move through the ebbs and flows of life with ease and let yourself to let and give yourself the permission to begin again, and begin again in each moment, because life is happening right now. It's not happening five minutes ago, it's not happening five minutes from now, it's happening right now, here, in this moment. And sometimes we're moving through those ebbs and flows of life and we try and like, hold on to things. We hold on tight, you know, and hold our breath and we, we grip and we're like, oh, like another change or like another shift or another pivot. And something that I think I've grown to learn is like we're constantly in these changes, like we're constantly like thing, like life is moving, like my life is ebbing and flowing. And what would life look like for you and what would happen if you really allowed yourself the permission to let things die and end so that they can be recreated, rebirth and brought into new form? And what would happen if you allowed yourself the permission to begin again right now, in this moment, and then again in this moment, and then again in this moment, and then again in this moment, because life is happening right now, it's not happening five minutes ago or five minutes in the future, it's happening right now.

Speaker 1:

So, if there is something that is on your heart, if there is a business that you want to create, if there is a new job that you want to apply for, if there is a creative endeavor that you want to take on, if there is someone that you want to hang out with or talk to, it could be anything. Listen to that nudge, listen to that voice inside of you that is pushing you along in a direction that feels really good, towards what your personal vision is. Personal vision is and, even if it is a slow, slow process, you are already doing the thing. You are already on the path and you are already on your way there. And how can you allow yourself to soak in all of the goodness that is happening in this exact moment while you are on your path to what you are doing, to your vision, to your dream? And that is what I have for you today. I think that's everything, yep.

Speaker 1:
