What if spring cleaning was about more than just organizing your closet?

In this episode, we explore the connection between spring cleaning, nervous system regulation, emotional release, and personal transformation. Through personal stories, reflections on healing, and the natural cycles of life, this conversation invites you to slow down, reset, and create space for what’s next.

This episode dives into the idea that healing is not linear, it’s cyclical. Just like nature moves through seasons of release, rest, and renewal, our nervous systems crave moments of recalibration, reflection, and fresh starts.

✨ In this episode, you’ll learn:

  •  How spring cleaning supports nervous system regulation
  •  Why healing is a cyclical process, not a linear one
  •  The connection between fresh starts and emotional regulation
  •  How nature mirrors our own experiences of release and transformation

🌸 This episode is for you if:

  •  You’re craving a fresh start or emotional reset
  •  You feel overwhelmed, emotionally cluttered, or energetically drained
  •  You’re navigating a season of transition or change
  •  You want to approach healing and growth from a more compassionate, nervous-system-informed perspective

Sometimes healing looks like slowing down, releasing what no longer fits, and trusting the natural cycles of growth, rest, and renewal.

Welcome And Quick Life Updates

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the podcast. If you are new here, I'm Ray. I'm a breathwork facilitator and somatic coach. And if you aren't new here, welcome back. I'm so glad that you are tuning in for today's episode. So for today's episode, I wanted to dive into a new topic. I wanted to share a few life updates and uh touch on a bit of spring cleaning and nervous system regulation and all of those uh fun things. So if you have been tuning into the podcast every week, you may have noticed that I did not post or share an episode the past two weeks. So I've been playing a little bit of catch-up. Um I did go on a big trip where I went to uh Galapagos in Ecuador, which was absolutely amazing. Such, such an incredible trip. It was so beautiful. I got to see like so many animals. We saw sea turtles and sea lions and stingrays, sharks. It was really, really cool. So while I was there, I did get very sick, which was not fun. Do not recommend doing that. But that is what happened. And so I did end up in the hospital for a quick second there, and I got some fluids, I got some medicine, uh, they gave me an antibiotic. It was all good, and it was pretty amazing because the hotel was really helpful. Their hotel manager came with us. Um, we had I had like an incredible nurse was there, my husband was there, so I was in very good hands. But I did end up getting very sick. So in the middle of our trip, we probably missed out on like two days. Um, and obviously it's like very uncomfortable and all that stuff. Um, and then coincidentally, the day before we left, my car transmission died in in of all places, just right in the driveway. So couldn't have been any better. So I literally got it towed right to the dealership and they still have it. So it's been like almost a month and have no car. They did give me a rental, which was great, and it is a brand new car, so like very bizarre that the transmission would go out. I think it's just the computer, and then you have to wait because it's like backlogged and it's a part and blah blah blah blah, whatever. So that happened, and then after I got back from my trip, my laptop completely just crashed, which again makes sense. I've had my laptop, I love my laptop, my Mac. I've had it for like 10 years, almost 10 years, since like grad school days. So I was very attached to this Mac. I love my laptop. And anyway, I share all of that because we are getting spring cleaning, right? Like it will happen whether you want it to or not. The season was like you're going to clear out everything. And so that is what happened out with the old, in with the new, my little version of spring spring cleaning. And I thought that it would be a great way to kind of like transition into the season that we're currently in. So I did a little bit of research around like where did this idea of spring cleaning even originate from? Like, why do we do spring cleaning? Like, what is that? So apparently it is from the Jewish origin. Who knew? Not me. I had to Google it. And it's related to Passover, which is the holiday that happens around March or April every year. And it's this idea that after wintering, which I do have a few episodes on, if you want to scroll back a few uh closer to like December and January, and I talk about this idea of wintering, but spring cleaning basically is after this idea of wintering, we have this moment to clear and release and let go of the things that way we can welcome in spring and then eventually summer, and then things bloom. And it's this natural cyclical process. And this in of itself can be a somatic experience of release. And we can see this happen in nature. We see it happen with animals when they shed their winter coats, we see it happen with the trees and the leaves, everything dies, goes into the soil, and then there's this newness that happens for bloom. And we can also see this when it comes to having like a fresh start. And this is craved in some way. Our nervous system kind of does enjoy having like a clean slate. And we see this also glimpses of this in our in society, right? Like Monday is the start of a new week and New Year's is the start of a new year, and then we have birthdays, and it's a start of our our new birth year. And there are all these milestones in our schedules that are also symbolic of fresh starts. And I think in some way we appreciate them. I know I do. I love like New Year's is like my favorite holiday because I like love that feeling of just like, oh, it's a new year. Like we can like reflect and it's it's really like regulating for me and my nervous system. So that's what I wanted to like chat more about in this episode that spring cleaning, it is a cyclical process and it does help us to regulate our nervous system in some way. It allows for a release, an expansion, it allows us to recalibrate and then integrate. And this is really helpful, and it's also similar very similar to really what healing looks like. The healing process is not linear by any means as much as we would love it to be. It's not, it's really a cyclical process, and we can find ourselves sometimes even in like old patterns, right? Like in we're like, oh, here we are again. Like, how did I get back to this place? And then we go through this cycle, and sometimes that shifts and changes, and we experience transformation and it's beautiful, and then we find ourselves back, and we're like, oh, what where is this cycle coming from? But healing is uh cyclical in itself, but it's not linear, there's no like steps to it, there's no um roadmap, there's ways to have breakthroughs and transformation, of course, but it is cyclical in a sense, and so I share all of this. I would love to invite you to take a moment to be present with this season, to check in with yourself and see where your attention and your presence is going, what it's going towards, what could use more of your presence and attention, and also what could use less. So maybe it looks like more rest, creativity, community, play, maybe it looks like less scrolling or rushing or clutter. And can you also see how life might naturally be reorganizing anything for you? Hopefully, you're not experiencing my version of spring cleaning where everything just wanted to be cleared out. But um, how might life just the natural flow of life be reorganizing things for you in this in this season? One thing that I personally love to do, which is quite literal, is going through my closets and cleaning everything. I keep all of my like summer and fall things separate from actually spring would be included in there, I guess. So I keep like fall and winter separate from spring and summer. So each year I'm cleaning out my closet like twice when I switch it both times, and uh, and I really like enjoy it. I like cleaning everything, letting go of things. So that's like a physical personal belonging thing, but it doesn't always have to look like that. So, what would spring cleaning look like for you? And so that is what we have for you on this week's episode of the podcast. Thank you as always so much for tuning in. I would love to hear from you. How is spring cleaning going for you?
