Are You Running in Circles or Finding Your Flow?

Robin Hackney Season 2 Episode 63

Have you ever experienced that magical feeling when everything just clicks? When energy, focus, and joy align perfectly, creating a sense of effortless flow? That's exactly where I am right now, and it feels incredible.

What makes this particularly meaningful is that not long ago, I had resigned myself to a "new normal" of fatigue, brain fog, and discomfort that I attributed to age and hormonal changes. I thought these limitations were simply my fate. The remarkable turnaround I've experienced proves otherwise, and I'm bursting with excitement to share this transformation with you.

My renewed energy is spilling over into every area of my life—from teaching more challenging fitness classes (my poor 6am students can attest to this!) to making significant progress on upcoming retreats, courses, and challenges. Speaking of retreats, I'm thrilled to announce that registration will open soon for experiences that will be more content-rich and transformative than ever before. These fill quickly, so keep an eye on my newsletter for details!

I'm also inviting you to join our April push-up challenge: 11 push-ups daily for 30 days. Inspired by research suggesting women should be able to complete this many proper push-ups, this challenge embraces the "start where you are" philosophy. Whether you're modifying against a counter or alternating between knees and toes, what matters is beginning the process. You'll be amazed at your progress after 30 consistent days.

As we approach my 150th episode milestone next week (with special giveaways planned!), I'm filled with gratitude for this community. If you're struggling with energy, discomfort, or any wellness challenges, please reach out at 913-392-2877. The transformation I've experienced might be possible for you too. Let's connect, grow, and find our flow—together.

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Spandex and Wine podcast. I'm your host, robin Hackney, and I'm so happy that you're here. This podcast is a place for conversations about balancing a healthy lifestyle and being happy more specifically, happy hour. Together we'll explore all things wellness and wine. I hope you learn a little, laugh a lot and, along the way, know you're not alone on this balanced wellness journey. Ready to jump in, pour something in your glass that makes you happy, because it's time for Spandex and Wine. Hey, it's Robin, host of the Spandex and Wine podcast. Thanks for listening.

Speaker 1:

Today I am all jazzed up. You know, when you feel good, you're focused and productive, the sun is shining and you just simply feel in alignment. That's been me, and it is such a great place to be. I don't want to get out. I'm sure I'll get out of that and come back in, but it's such a good feeling when you're in the flow, and I hope you are. I hope, when you're listening right now, that you have that same exact feeling.

Speaker 1:

All right, first, I am almost ready to release the information about my upcoming retreats. Actually, I just got off the phone with an individual that's going to help structure one of them and it's going to be incredible. I have loved the trips we've done in the past, but these are going to have so much more content, direction, guidance, just all around a better experience. So for those that have participated in the past, you know they fill up quickly. Those of you that haven't, they fill up quickly. I'll be sure to give you a heads up in both my newsletter and social media with info about each retreat so you have time to talk to your bestie before registration opens or goes live. I'll probably give about a week's notice, then I'll open it up and everyone will get the countdown at the same time, so there's no preferential treatment, don't worry, no one's going to get the inside scoop. I promise that this is going to be amazing and I want you there and there's going to be something for everyone. I feel like all of them are so different that you're going to just fall into the category that you're supposed to be in, so look for that. Second, a big thank you to those that filled out the survey that I put in last week's newsletter and I also put it on social media and it's just like a four to five question deal to help give me feedback on what you're looking for and how I can help you be healthier and happier. I've already added more content in my newsletter, so hopefully you've noticed that, and what I'm working on now will be a deeper dive to keep you on track and feeling amazing, just like me.

Speaker 1:

All right, third, let's see. I want to continue to work on upcoming courses and challenges that I've mentioned before. I am aiming to have all of that planned out by the end of this month hopefully sooner, though. My jazzed up state will help me get it all done, I am sure, as long as I don't get sidetracked, which happens so easily with me. Oh my gosh, is anyone else like that? Some days aren't so bad, but others I truly feel like a chicken with his head cut off, running in too many directions and really getting nothing accomplished. Oh, and speaking of chickens, we got some new chicks this past weekend. We have more on the way. We bought these that we got, but we're going to put some eggs in the incubator tonight, so we should have more in 21 days. It's such a cool process, I think, so please pray we don't end up with many roosters like we did last year. I do not know what we're going to do if that happens. So if you are in the market for a rooster, please hit me up. All right, let's see.

Speaker 1:

Oh, an update on my episode last week when I was talking about shifts that I'm making you guys, I feel incredible. Like I mentioned, I had gotten to a place where I thought I would just be stuck Like I was just there and I was blaming it on age and menopause, and I had just come to the point where I just accepted it. I'm like, okay, I'll do what I can do, but I am so thankful that isn't the case and I want you to experience this as well. So, if you are struggling with fatigue or low energy, bloating, achy joints, brain fog oh my gosh, the list could go on and on or maybe if you're carrying a little extra fluff around the middle, or maybe if you're carrying a little extra fluff around the middle, I would love to chat with you. So you can text me at 913-392-2877 and we can schedule a call and maybe it's something for you, maybe it's not, but I would hate to miss an opportunity to talk with you when it could help, right? I can't express to you how good I feel.

Speaker 1:

My class participants can probably tell you that I'm feeling good because I have upped their workouts quite a bit. Yesterday morning, 6 am class, I thought I was going to have people walk out the door or roll out because their legs probably couldn't do any more lunges or squats. But they didn't. They worked their butts off and it is showing they are going to rock their tank tops this summer. And let me tell you, it is so rewarding to watch everyone the six and the eight o'clock class work so hard in their classes. It just warms my heart. I often say that, oh my gosh, I'm going to tear up, and you guys, sometimes I really do. It's just incredible that what you can do when you put your mind to it. All right.

Speaker 1:

I also want to thank all of you that participated in the podcast bracket showdown. It was my fun play on March Madness. It was kind of a last minute thing that I put together, but it ended up being a huge success. You all are the best. I can't believe the increase in downloads, so thank you. My 150th episode will be next week. I know I mentioned that a couple weeks ago. I was a little off on my numbers, but it should be next week. So I'm going to be doing some giveaways for that, and it will include sharing episodes with a friend or five-star reviews, maybe adding people to our Facebook group on oh on Facebook. Hello, I just said that, so I'll get all of that information to you and I'll make it fun and have some cute little giveaways that I think you'll like.

Speaker 1:

I wanted to also tell you about a challenge that we are doing at the studio. It's just something simple that all of you can do. I was listening to the Mel Robbins podcast and she had an orthopedic surgeon on there. I can't remember the lady's name, I'll have to go look it up, but she was saying that women should be able to do 11 pushups on their toes, going low enough to touch their chest to like a fist or an apple. So that is something that we are working on.

Speaker 1:

I have challenged everyone to do 11 pushups a day for the month of April, but you can start at any time. Just start where you're at, and it can be that maybe your hands are on the fourth step of your stairs and you're going to gradually go down. Maybe your hands are on the countertop and you'll gradually go down. Maybe you're already doing pushups on your knees and you're going to work towards doing them on your toes and you could go knees, toes, knees, toes, or knees, knees, toes, whatever it is for you, but make sure that you're not shrugging, make sure your elbows are slightly angled back. They shouldn't be out straight to the side. That's a little too taxing on your shoulders. Yeah, if you need, if you need instructions, let me know. Like, if you need to see a quick little video, reach out to me. I can send you a video on how to do a pushup and how you're going to have proper form. So please, please, reach out to me if you need that information.

Speaker 1:

I think it's a fun challenge for everyone and I like the idea of. I don't know why 11 is so interesting to me. It's not 10, it's not 12, but yet it's 11. We can do it, you guys, and don't get overwhelmed or discouraged if you're like, oh my gosh, I can't even do one on my toes, that's okay. Start where you are. You will be amazed where you end up in 30 days. So start today. You're listening to this episode right now. After you're done it's almost over You're going to knock out your 11 pushups, or heck. Just do them right now, while you're listening to the rest of the episode. Okay, you guys, I think that is it for today.

Speaker 1:

I am headed out in this beautiful sunshine to meet my friend Bethany and walk with her. We've been trying to do that at least once a week, although the weather hasn't been cooperating. She is an instructor at the studio that I just cherish. She is wonderful. If you know Bethany, you know that she is just a gem of a person, so I love spending time with her. So that's what I am off to do. Let's see.

Speaker 1:

Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you have any guests. You want to send my way and nudge me if you don't hear back. You know, like I said before, I get so sidetracked and I'm working on it. I'm working on it and I do feel like I'm so much more focused. But don't be afraid to nudge me if you don't hear back from me. I am really loving the conversations that I'm having with all of my guests and I'm looking forward to what is in the pipeline, and I think you will too. All right, you guys, take care. Thank you for listening.
