Empowering Your Body at Any Age: Pushups, Psychobiotics, and Mental Wellness
What if 11 simple movements each day could transform your strength and confidence? This episode dives into a 30-day pushup challenge that's already helping women see impressive results in their physical strength and emotional resilience. Whether you're doing modified versions against the wall or full pushups on your toes, this accessible challenge proves that consistency trumps intensity when building lasting strength.
We explore the fascinating world of psychobiotics – specialized probiotics that work through the gut-brain connection to enhance mental health while simultaneously supporting digestive function. The research is clear: healing your gut isn't just about alleviating digestive discomfort; it's a pathway to better mood, increased energy, and improved overall wellness. This conversation highlights how targeted nutrition and supplement strategies can address multiple health concerns simultaneously, working with your body's natural intelligence rather than against it.
A powerful Dr Mark Hyman quote frames our discussion on preventative wellness: "The Alzheimer's at 70 started at 40. The loss of independence at 80 began at 30." Your future health begins with today's choices, a reminder that wellness isn't just about immediate results but about investing in your long-term quality of life. Alongside practical health strategies, we emphasize that joy isn't optional—it's essential. Make time for what lights you up, whether it's enjoying a glass of wine with friends or chasing adventures that set your soul on fire. True wellness embraces both spinach and celebration, movement and rest, discipline and delight. Ready to transform your approach to health? This podcast is a place for conversations about balancing a healthy lifestyle and being happy more specifically, happy hour. Together we'll explore all things wellness and wine. I hope you learn a little, laugh a lot and, along the way, know you're not alone on this balanced wellness journey. Ready to jump in? Pour something in your glass that makes you happy, because it's time for Spandex and Wine. Hey, welcome back to another episode of the Spandex and Wine podcast. I'm your host, robin Hackney. So thanks for being here and, oh my gosh, I feel like there's a lot to cover today. I'm sure it'll go quickly, though. So pushups, health coaching, psychobiotics and more. I am ready to jump in and hopefully you are as well. So here we go.
Speaker 1:First up, I have to give a huge shout out to everyone doing my pushup challenge. I am so proud of all of them. They're showing up, getting stronger and their arms, oh my gosh, looking buff already. If you haven't joined us and you would like to, no worries, it's not too late. What we're doing is 11 pushups a day for 30 days straight. I heard this on the Mel Robbins podcast. It was Dr Vonda Wright that was on there. She is an orthopedic surgeon saying that every woman and she was actually talking about women over 50, should be able to do 11 pushups a day. So if you can't, fret not. That's what this challenge is for. So, yeah, whether you do the countertop, you're on your knees, your toes, it does not matter where you start, it just matters that you do start. I think you're going to be impressed with where you end up in 30 days. If you want in, you can just text the word pushups to 911 or push up either one, it doesn't matter. I'll get the message 913-392-2877. You can also send me an email at info at spandexandwinecom, or message me on social media. I will send you a daily reminder to keep you motivated.
Speaker 1:Talk about empowerment. This is it. And speaking of feeling empowered, are you ready to feel stronger, more energized and more you again? How long has it been since you felt like yourself?
Speaker 1:I am opening up time slots for consultations designed especially for women, particularly those navigating the beautiful and wild ride of menopause. So, whether you're looking for fitness, gut health, stress management, nutrition, or you just need help creating a sustainable game plan, I am here to guide you, so together we'll build simple, doable strategies customized for your body, your goals and your life. I don't have any kind of cookie cutter plans. This is something just for you, and your first consultation is completely free. So there's nothing to lose, except I don't know maybe a little weight, a little self-doubt and a whole lot of feeling struck. Oh, and, if you are one of my Plexus VIP customers, you get a free call every single week as part of your membership, so make sure you take advantage of that. Check your messages, because I've been sending the link out, so get on my schedule. So the rest of you you can send me an email at info at spandexandwinecom. How many times do I say my email and my text line? I don't know. You can text me at 913-392-2877 or feel free to slide into my DMs on social media. I would love to hear from you. I would love to be able to help you.
Speaker 1:I came across a post by Dr Mark Hyman. You may have seen it. It really hit home and I had to share it. Okay, the Alzheimer's at 70 started at 40. The loss of independence at 80 began at 30.
Speaker 1:The aging you want tomorrow begins with the choices you make today. That's good, isn't it? Wow, very powerful. So let's make today count. Whatever your step is one step, one step every day to being healthier. It could be the pushup challenge. It could be that you're going to reach out to me for that free consultation, maybe you're going to take a walk at lunch. Maybe you're going to add I don't even know five minutes on your resistance training routine. Whatever it is, start today, all right, okay.
Speaker 1:So speaking of great choices, have you heard of psychobiotics? They are basically live bacteria, so probiotics that can improve your mental health by working through the gut-brain axis. I was learning even more about this during a masterclass over the weekend and I was just so fascinated. You've heard me say it before, and I'm sure you've heard it every so many other places too that everything starts in the gut. So healing your gut isn't just about a flat tummy, but let's be real, that's a pretty awesome bonus. It's also about improving your mood, your energy, your immune system, your entire well-being and life. Whole foods plus a customized supplement plan can be an absolute game changer. It has been for me. Those of you that see me in person, I hope that you see it, I hope that you feel it, and I want this for you too.
Speaker 1:So let's connect. Grab your free consultation, or you can message me and we can chat that way if you prefer. You do not want to hop on a call or a Zoom. No pressure, just support, encouragement and real tools to help you thrive. Okay, here's to feeling good in your skin, one healthy habit at a time. Bye for now.
Speaker 1:Oh wait, I forgot one more thing. I had sent an email to a friend and her auto response came back and I thought it was so cool what it said at the end of it. It said don't forget to have fun today. You don't get time back. Very simple, but how cool is that? Joy isn't just a bonus. It's part of living a healthy, full life. It is as important to your health as nutrition and movement. So make time for what makes you laugh, what makes you feel alive, what fills your cup. Make space for the things that make you laugh until your cheeks hurt. Chase the adventures that set your soul on fire and cherish all the little moments that turn into the best memories. Life isn't meant to be just survived. It's meant to be lived and like really fully lived. Okay, bye for now. Thank you for listening.
