Gut Health as a Garden: Weeding, Seeding, and Feeding
Your gut health affects nearly every aspect of your wellness journey—from sleep quality and energy levels to immune function and even mood. But what if we approached gut health like tending a garden?
In this enlightening conversation, I share a fresh perspective on supporting your digestive system through the TriPlex system—a powerhouse trio that weeds, seeds, and feeds your gut microbiome for optimal health. The Bio Cleanse gently removes unwanted microorganisms, ProBio 5 introduces beneficial probiotic strains, and the Slim Pink Drink nourishes those good bacteria with essential prebiotics. This systematic approach creates a flourishing internal environment that supports whole-body wellness.
My friend Sally, who's been thriving on Plexus products for over a decade, offers invaluable perspective on the patience and consistency needed for sustainable health transformation. "Quick fixes are not necessarily healthy," she reminds us, sharing how gradual improvements in her sleep, blood sugar balance, and digestive function have created lasting wellness. For those navigating perimenopause or menopause, her insights are particularly relevant.
We also explore the Reset system—a three-day nutritionally supported fast designed to revitalize metabolism at the cellular level. Alex, who just completed her first Reset experience, shares her genuine surprise at how manageable and effective the program was, even while maintaining an active lifestyle. Her candid feedback highlights the practical benefits of giving your body this metabolic refresh.
Whether you're struggling with digestive issues, seeking more energy, looking to support your immune system, or simply curious about optimizing your health, this conversation offers practical wisdom and real-world experiences to guide your journey. Hey everyone, welcome back to the Spandex and Wine podcast. I'm your host, robin Hackney, and I am super glad that you're here. Today's episode is a little bit different, so it is from a recording of my monthly Plexus call, and, whether you're already part of my health community or you're just curious about what I do, I think you're going to like this one. It's such a great conversation about two of my favorite health tools Triplex and Reset and I'll walk you through how Triplex works like a garden, helping to weed, seed and feed your gut for better digestion, energy, immune support and so many other things. And we'll also talk about Reset, our three-day nutritionally supported fast. That's perfect when you need a fresh start to reset your metabolism on a cellular level. You're going to hear from my amazing friend, sally Boss, who has been thriving on TriPlex and Plexus products for over a decade, and Alex Haupt-Clark, who just completed our very first Reset yay, alex. And shares what that experience was like. So, whether you're looking to feel better, support your gut or just learn a little bit more about how these tools can work for you, this episode is for you. So pour something in your glass that makes you happy and let's get started. Hello and welcome to the Spandex and Wine podcast. I'm your host, robin Hackney, and I'm so happy that you're here.
Speaker 1:This podcast is a place for conversations about balancing a healthy lifestyle and being happy more specifically, happy hour. Together we'll explore all things wellness and wine. I hope you learn a little, laugh a lot and, along the way, know you're not alone on this balanced wellness journey. Ready to jump in, pour something in your glass that makes you happy, because it's time for spandex and wine. Well, hello, ladies. Thank you so much for joining me Again this month. I'm doing these calls on a monthly basis and they'll be the last Tuesday of the month, so I just appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to be here and, just like last month I talked about the TriPlex product, I want to talk about that again, but also the Reset, and then I have a special guest that's going to come on and just share her experience actually two.
Speaker 1:So I want to change the shift just a little bit this month. So, with the TriPlex, that's our number one best selling products with plus Plexus, and that's typically what we start everyone out on. But it's really important that we stay in constant communication because your dosage might be different. Every body is different, so I am with you every step of the way. But the TriPlex is typically where we start people and as I'm describing it to others, I typically say you know, the bio cleanse is a gentle cleaning of your digestive system and it helps support that natural process.
Speaker 1:And then the pro bio five is your probiotic and your slim pink drink helps with hunger control. But I want to change the shift just a little bit this month and think about all of those products as a garden, all right. So you have to weed, seed and feed a garden. So your bio cleanse helps weed out the unwanted microbiomes from your digestive system so you feel more balanced. And the ProBio 5 helps the gut with probiotic strains to create that optimal environment. And then your Slim Pink Drink helps feed the beneficial microbiomes with the prebiotics that they need to flourish. So you can see how all of them working together will just help you live a balanced and healthier life and really get the microbiomes all balanced in your gut. And that's going to help with a plethora of symptoms. It's going to help with inflammation, it's going to help with balancing blood sugar, weight loss, blood pressure, cholesterol just so many issues that we have that are related to our gut that we don't even think about.
Speaker 1:So that's the triplex, and I like to do calls one-on-one with people as well, so I want to answer any questions individually here or we can also just set up a call for that. But I also wanted to mention our reset. So our reset is a three-day nutritionally supported fast, and I'm actually on day two right now. I have my active with me, so yummy there. Yay, I get bone broth later. But anyway, that is designed to just reset your metabolism on a cellular level. It is amazing. You're going to lose weight, but it's typically not just water weight that you're losing. You're losing body fat and that's where you really see the difference.
Speaker 1:And then going right into the triplex or continuing with triplex after you're doing your reset is going to put you in that optimal state that you want to be in, so kind of shift again, like I said, to thinking about your gut as a garden and weed seeding and feeding it appropriately.
Speaker 1:So I was going to ask my friend Sally to hop on and talk just a little bit, because this is not a quick fix, it's not magic, it's not something that's going to happen overnight and the results are going to be gradual, I know.
Speaker 1:For me initially it was energy, and I'm a high energy person anyway, so having even more energy is kind of scary at times, but it's been great. And I was noticing, see, I've been doing the products for a little over three months and my biggest issue was sleep, and it's been probably six or seven weeks that I have just been sleeping so well, and that's huge as you're going through menopause or perimenopause or even post menopause. So that was just something for me that I was so grateful for. And about four weeks ago I'm sitting on the deck with my husband and I'm like Dave, you're not sniffling anymore. His seasonal allergies went away, so it's just been, and my hip hasn't been hurting. So it's just exciting to see those changes, but they're gradual. So, sally, I'm going to have you speak to that just a little bit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, I think you know I've been doing this for 10 years and probably one of the biggest things I hear is I don't really feel like it's making a difference. But then maybe they quit the products and then they're like, oh, it was making a difference. Now I can tell Right, and it is gradual. And that is the beautiful thing I think about plexus is it's not a quick fix, because quick fixes are not necessarily healthy. This is long-term, sustainable health. It's something that will keep you healthy for a long time if you consistently use it. And so when I started, I had a lot of health issues going on and I knew in my head that those health issues didn't come in 30 days, they didn't come in 60 days. It had been years of all sorts of things contributing to health issues and poor gut health. Your environment, your food choices, your diet, your antibiotics, killing all the good gut flora so many things can contribute to poor gut health and systemic inflammation and all of that. And so I knew going into Plexus that I needed to give it time, because it wasn't going to fix me in 30 days or in 60 days, right, or even longer than that, because it had taken years for me to develop what I had going on. So I think, coming into it, you have to have an open mind of, yep, I need to feel better, yep, I'm struggling and I'm going to give this time because it's going to help me and it's going to be a healthy way to defeat some health issues and to lose some weight and to get rid of inflammation and all of that. And so, like Robin was saying, weeding, seeding, feeding is so, so important because you have to do all those things, like just thinking about your gut, like a garden, and you know growing things and what would you normally do if you're growing a garden, all of that? And so you have to do that for yourself. And um, plexus is, you know, is the key to a really healthy garden and with lots of flowers and all the things Right and so, um.
Speaker 2:So for me, it was being patient, it was being consistent. You can't leave the product sitting on your counter and take them every three days or once a week, or it's not going to work right. It just doesn't make sense. If you would not water your garden forever for two weeks or every other week, it's not going to grow. So you have to be consistent, so you have to be consistent and you have to be patient and you have to give it time, because there's a lot of yeast overgrowth and candida for the products to work through. But that's what they're doing. They're chipping away at those layers and that just takes time. And so for me, I was really patient because I knew I had to be and I also felt, slowly, gradually, some great amazing changes happening in.
Speaker 2:Um, like Robin said, number one was sleep. For sure, I, my, my sleep was changed so much drastically because I did not sleep well at all. And the number two thing was my blood sugar. Um, I was crashing and craving all the time hypoglycemia, low blood sugar. I wanted sugar constantly. I had a terrible diet Coke addiction and it just completely stabilized my blood sugars and you sleep better number one when your blood sugar is balanced. Number two you're not going to be wanting to eat and eat sugar and bad things all the time, because you're stable and it's a wonderful feeling. So I noticed that very soon. But, as I went on, like I said, I'm 10 years in now still just having, you know, great amazing results with my health, my headaches, my digestive system and now entering this new season of perimenopause and menopause. It's helping so much with that too.
Speaker 1:So nice. Well, thanks, sally, I appreciate you taking the time to say all that and to be on the call. Yeah, and I mentioned that I was doing the reset right now and I'm on day number two. Well, alex just got done with the reset, so she finished day three yesterday and I've known Alex since we were in elementary school together and I can tell you that she is a tell it like it is kind of gal and she is going to put it out there, she is going to be honest. So I asked her to hop on and share her experience. So, alex, if you don't mind, just hopping on and sharing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, absolutely, I'll remember to unmute myself first. There you go. So I've been in fitness and you know constructing specific diets around, whether it's bodybuilding or marathon running, and so I'm very familiar with changing up the diet to create a difference in your body. Whatever that difference is you're looking for, whether it's performance or whether it's leaning out, and so you know, as I was looking at some of the stuff that you were putting out on Facebook and I was thinking to myself, you know that's one thing I haven't done recently is kind of reset my digestive system. I haven't taken a probiotic in probably six, seven years. I haven't really done a fast. I haven't well, other than the colonoscopy. But let's not talk about that that's not pleasant.
Speaker 1:Nobody wants to talk about that, right.
Speaker 3:But, you know, I was really interested in the fact that it's not really, it's not like a fast fast, like you're not eating, like in a traditional intermittent fast where you're literally just having coffee and water, right. And I thought this has got to be, it can't hurt, right, it can't hurt. So I ordered it the minute it showed up. I was like, okay, I'm starting it, because I was just gaining in this anticipation and this excitement about you know what is going to. As I'm watching more of her content, I'm thinking to myself I want that, I want that, I want that. And sometimes I think that we grasp at straws when we feel a little bit helpless, specifically in the sleep area, and then, when we are post-menopause, losing the weight, like it's slow, arduous. I'm, you know, working out every day and I'm not seeing a ton of results, and I think part of that is because I'm not putting all the puzzle pieces together. So I did the reset. I had expectations from you know, products I've used maybe in the past that it was going to be an unpleasant experience, but one that I would be able to make it through, because I'm a person of great determination and great focus. I had just decided I was going to champion this thing.
Speaker 3:What I found out was that, first of all, I'm really missing the hydrate and the active and I really need to get some more ordered because those two I love the hydrate and I want to take it to the gym with me. That's one of the things that I did back in the day. I had, you know, I always had something there to hydrate, but you have to be really careful about too much sugar, too much sodium and I, so I know that this product kind of fits my guidelines. So I'm looking forward to actually restocking on the active and hydrate.
Speaker 3:But the protein shake was delicious. I've had some protein shakes that are just horrible and I was super excited that I got to put milk in it, because I'm a water girl, you know, like always water and protein powder. So that was kind of. It was very delicious. Point being, I was really surprised at how tasty the products were, because I think that when you're sort of denying yourself, you know the tater tots or the ice cream or even a salad, right Something that you can chew when it's bad tasting, you're really.
Speaker 3:It's just compounding the sort of miserable experience. But, to be honest, until the end of day three, when I was really really pushing myself, I was, you know, I did 16,000 steps the first day and climbed 46 flights because I was trying to help my son move to a third bedroom, a third floor bedroom apartment, and you know, I was continuing to work out and continuing to do all this stuff and I may have pushed myself a little bit too far, but I mean, it wasn't until last night when I started to feel like, oh, you know what, I just really need to sit down. Other than that, I had great energy, great focus. I felt like, oh my God, is it already time for me to go and get the next step? I feel like I just finished the last one. So it wasn't like sitting around waiting, waiting anticipatory, because I really wasn't hungry. They balance the order of all the products in a way that I felt perfectly satisfied.
Speaker 3:I did lose weight, I did. I can tell a difference. My little donut around my belly button is not quite as pronounced as it was.
Speaker 1:Nice.
Speaker 3:But, you know, today I started the triplex and I was excited to do so. I did not feel like you know. I spent this money and I'm not seeing any results. And I do know that it's it's a, it's a marathon, it's not a sprint, right, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the experience and I think it was very well worth it. And I'm looking forward to, you know, continuing on the products, reordering some of the products that I had in reset and potentially doing the reset quarterly, just to kind of continue on with the progress and stay in tune with my body. And, oh my God, if I could sleep, that would be lovely. Three days is not long enough to make a change in your sleep, but I'm desperate to have a change in my sleep pattern. So I was excited to hear what you both said earlier in the call.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, it took me a little time for the sleep, but it's there now and I'm not going to say that I sleep perfect every night. There's still a few nights where I'm like I wake up or whatever it might be, but no, it is so much better. But, alex, thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate that. I'm happy to. Okay, that's a wrap on this month's Plexus Chat. Thank you so much to Alex and Sally for being there, and I hope you enjoyed our fun and informative conversation about those two powerful tools that help support your gut, your energy and just your overall health.
Speaker 1:I loved hearing from my friend, sally, who's been using Triplex for over 10 years and shared how it continues to make a difference in her life, and how inspiring it was to hear from Alex Alex who just completed her first reset and is already feeling the benefits. So remember that triplex is like tending a garden it weeds out the bad seeds in the good and will feed your gut. So you feel your best from the inside out, and reset is the perfect way to hit the reset button and give your body a fresh start in just three days. I do these calls on the last Tuesday of every month and you are always welcome. Whether you're already a customer or just curious, everyone is welcome.
