Weight loss shots are everywhere right now, and I understand the pull. When you’re tired of cravings, tired of “food noise,” and tired of feeling stuck, a fast solution can sound like relief. But I want to slow the conversation down and ask a different question: what if the first step is supporting your body naturally instead of jumping straight to a prescription?

We talk through why these medications are so appealing, plus the concerns that don’t always make the headline, like nausea, muscle loss, and the risk of long-term dependency. I also share a moment from a doctor’s office that made me think hard about the long game. From there, I explain what I focus on with clients: balancing blood sugar, calming cravings, supporting gut health, and especially supporting the liver, since it plays a huge role in metabolism and fat storage.

Most importantly, I come back to the basics that actually create lasting weight loss and better energy: enough protein, strength training to build muscle, consistent meals, fewer processed foods, and real sleep. If you feel stuck, I also share how plant-based support and group coaching can help you build simple routines you can stick with. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s weighing options, and leave a review with your biggest question about cravings or blood sugar.

Sick Week And A Reminder Rest

SPEAKER_00

Hey everyone, welcome back to the Spandex and Wine Podcast. Oh my gosh, I have been sick this week and it just knocked me out. I think it's just the calm and a cold, but um, or maybe sinus infection, I have no idea. Anyway, it just threw me for a loop. So I am gonna have to take my own advice and slow down and rest more. So if you are dealing with this, I'm giving you permission to do the same. Um, because there's just a lot going around. I think with this change of the seasons, too, that happens as well. I mean, we all know that as the barometric pressure goes up and down, it can affect a lot of us. Um so anyway, take care of yourselves. But that's not even what this episode is about. I wanted to talk about something that's coming up more and more lately. You guys have all seen it, the weight loss shots. And before I say anything else, this is not judgment. It is just a conversation. And I understand why they are appealing. People want less hunger, fewer cravings, they want results that they could see right away. Um, but it's also worth asking: have you tried supporting your body naturally first? That is the thing that it concerns me, is that people are just jumping to these prescriptions and not trying natural processes first. The medications work by affecting appetite and blood sugar and how your body processes food, but they also come with uh nausea, muscle loss, long-term dependency, and they don't always address the root cause. In fact, we were at, Dave and I were at a doctor's appointment for him once, and he was getting shots in his knees, and we had asked the orthopedic, oh, who's the doctor or the nurse anyway, about the shots. And she's like, I do not recommend them because in 20 years you may not be able to stand up because it eats away so much of your muscle. So, what I focus on is supporting your body so it can do what it is designed to do. And that looks like balancing blood sugar, reducing cravings, just like I was saying before earlier that the shots do, but also supporting gut health and supporting your liver. Your liver, you guys, plays a huge role in metabolism, fat storage, and how your body processes everything you put into it. And one of the things I've been using and seeing others have success with is a combination that supports all of those systems naturally. It's supporting blood sugar, it's supporting cravings, it's supporting your body at a deeper level, it is quieting the food noise. It's not magic, it is just support. And the part that I care about the most, no supplement replaces the basics. If you really want to see change, you have to look at your protein intake, strength training, consistency with meals, reducing processed foods, getting enough sleep. That is huge. And all of that is what actually will move the needle. So when you eat better and you build muscle and you balance blood sugar, you naturally support your liver. I think when people hear balancing blood sugar, immediately they think of diabetes or prediabetes. You guys, so many of us are walking around with blood sugar issues that are causing all kinds of symptoms in our body, and we have no idea. So just that one step in itself will help immensely. And when your body is working well, weight loss becomes easier, your energy improves, your cravings calm down. It just overall you will feel so much better. So if you've been thinking about trying something, or if you feel stuck before you jump into something extreme or something expensive, or something that might come with side effects that you don't want, I would love for you to consider a natural option. Um, plant-based products, I can help you with all of that. We should talk first and make sure that it's something that would work for you because there may be a simpler, more supportive approach, and you don't have to do this alone. I have several group coaching sessions that are forming right now, and we are going to focus on just simple habits, consistency, and real life routines. You don't need a quick fix. Your body, um, I mean, I just feel like that we just jump to that convenience and that quick fix instead of getting to the root cause of it, and instead of doing a band-aid product, figuring out what is really going on your body in and on in your body so we can get it working for you again. And I can help you with all of that. So that is my little soapbox speech on that. Um, I look forward to oh my gosh, the summer. I was just sharing in my newsletter this week, which, if you got it, there was a little tease in there. I wanted to hear back from you. But I'm gonna go on summer tour again. Do you guys remember a couple years ago when I did that? I want to do that again. Um, I am making plans for different stops, so I don't want to give any details right now because I don't have a lot of details right now, but I'm excited about that. That was a lot of fun. I had so much fun seeing many of you at the different stops, and you guys were able to share on the podcast. Um, so that's exciting to me. And then my midlife collective, I'm excited for that group because they um part of their membership is they get to be a part of the podcast. And so they'll be on next week's recording and they'll be able to ask some questions after we are done recording the podcast. And this next guest is on, she is a grief um educator. So I think that's going to be very, very interesting. So that is all I have for you today. Again, take care of yourself. If you feel like you're getting sick, get ahead of it, drink plenty of water, get some rest. Don't do what I did and just wear yourself out and wonder why am I sick? I'm so happy that I'm feeling better. Okay, take care of you. I will see you later.
