S1 #20: Marketing Myths for Small Business Owners
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
There's a lot of marketing advice floating around on the internet. But most of it wasn't written with small business owners in mind. In this episode, I'm breaking down three common pieces of marketing advice you can safely ignore, and what to focus on instead.
In this episode, I'm covering:
- Funnels. Why complicated sales funnels, tripwires, landing pages, and automations are overkill for most small businesses, and what you actually need instead (hint: a good website and an email list go a long way)
- Generic social media advice. The pressure to post constantly, show your face, and chase every trend is real but it's not mandatory. I'm sharing a more sustainable, human approach to showing up online
- Following the trends. Remember when Reels were everything? Trends come and go, but clear messaging and genuine relationships never go out of style
The bottom line: Marketing your small business doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler the better. All you really need is clear messaging, a solid website, and a consistent way for people to hear from you.
