🎙️ Apple Podcasts: It’s Okay,
Hey, welcome back to It's Okay, the podcast. Happy Monday. We're already halfway through June. July is coming up. Yes, July 4th. That's also my mom's birthday, but it's Independence Day as well. America will be celebrating 250 years of this country. I think it's absolutely, absolutely wild. And I kind of want to talk about it a little bit, right? 250 years. In order to like, I mean, even if it was what was it? 249 years of the country being, but 250, we know like those astronomical numbers that like really mean something to us, right? Like 16, when you turn 16, like that's a big deal. 21, when you turn 21, that's a big deal. Then it's 25, 30, then it's 40, 50, 60. Like those are the big numbers in regards to us. A country, however, it's just wild. And 250 years ago, what was that like? Right? I definitely, definitely want to do an episode or episodes about the history of this country, the history of America, the history of this landmass, because obviously it wasn't always America, it was just a landmass with absolutely no one on it. So scientists, historians have gathered, and from my research and findings and different things like that, also it's not wild because people wrote books back then, and like we still have them. So, yes, I definitely want to get into that in a more different episode where we discuss, yeah, even the history of slavery in this country and history of slavery around the world. Because they really have us focus on when it happened here, but they never really tell us like how it was done globally and like what other countries participated in slavery and different things like that, and the whole bunch of lies that were told to us. We're we're gonna get into that a different day, but that is coming up, we're already there. Then we're gonna be in August, then we're gonna be in fall. My favorite time of the year. I'm so excited for it. You guys know you love fall, and I am so here for it. Fall in Nevada is a little bit different because you're in the city, so there's not really like these leaves that are green that are falling off of the trees or anything like that, but the air is cool, crisp, and still just absolutely amazing. And there's like a Starbucks on every corner, so pumpkin spice smells are just they're in the air, so my mind tells me. But also going down in America are the midterms. Are you guys out voting? Are you paying attention to your governors, your representatives, your senators who are running in your country because of those people are the people we need to focus our energy on? They need to be good, they need to be not liars, they need to not be scammers. So definitely be paying attention. June 9th was um election day here in Nevada. Got my ballot sent out, and we shall see how everything goes and runs. But um, along with that, there's a lot of you know, headline global news. I know that we're all seeing for sure. Globally, yes, but here in America, the um verdict that came out of Texas, this was a huge case that everyone was paying attention to. I kind of almost forgot about it that it happened a year ago, this case, with Austin Metcalf and with Car Carmelo, yeah, Carmelo Anthony, the um 17-year-olds who were at a track meet at school, something involving it being raining and Carmelo's team, he didn't have a tent. I was like, where is your team at, bro? You need to be with them. Why ain't I no tent? Where are they at? But anyway, I digress. And was underneath someone else's tent. Um, and we are finding out now all of the facts. Also, what I advise people to do is there's a transcript of the trial, read it for yourself and like listen to yourself read what's being asked, what's being said, what was done. And when you take like the voices out of it from other people and like the videos and like the headlines, like it, it just it it makes absolute sense, right? That he would be found guilty. I didn't think that he was gonna get 35 years, but I mean, it is Texas, you know, in different cities and counties, we're learning that there are some people who were way softer on crime and will just let someone out, out, out. But, you know, you have other places that are a little more uh stronger, but yeah, it just it let's before we dive all the way into what the case was saying, just look at from my perspective, from me. Let me just talk about me, right? If I am I'm an adult now, but even if I were like it's a school, let's start there. But even if I I as an adult are at, let's say a bar or a club or wherever, and I just so happen to end up in someone's section, and they're like, hey, you're not allowed in this section, you're not a part of this section, I would go, uh, okay, thank you, and would leave. That's it. There wouldn't be anything else that would ever happen. So go back to a school. If I am at a school and I end up underneath someone's tent, someone's section of the bleachers that they have reserved for the fan, like whatever. And they're like, hey, we have this reserved, or hey, this is our section, or whatever. Okay, no problem. I'm not gonna argue with you. And so that is the lesson that needs to be taught to children um across the board. Across the board. Like, you don't need to, I mean, you know what I mean? I could understand if you were actually like, actually, no, this is my section. Um, this is my documentation saying like we have row, such and such, this is our tent, like da-da-da. But if you know that it's not, you're not in the right, like, I'm not gonna argue with you. And so across the board, that needs to be the lesson taught, not this crazy crap that we're seeing on the internet from certain people that are making the melanin, melanated people look terrible. I'm like, bam, sir, are you kidding me? So let's just start with that. But before we go even further onto that, the case, however, yes, it was raining. He didn't have a tent, wasn't with his team, went underneath someone else's tent. Austin Metcalf was put in charge by his coach, by his superior. Um, hey, you're in charge here, you're supposed to regulate things, don't let anyone in our tent um manage the situation. That was his instructions. First of all, before I even go any further with that, if I'm put in charge of something, you got dang right. I am gonna be the best of being in charge of whatever you put me in charge of. Uh look, my coach said, can't nobody sit over here. Mm-mm. You gotta go. Like, I'm in charge. Like, you know, you have certain people that go a little too above and beyond. I'm definitely not that, but if I'm given a task to regulate, look, I'm gonna regulate. Period. And so I'm pretty sure that's what Austin Metcalf was doing. I'm sure he didn't have the energy that I have as a woman. I'm just joking. I'm just joking. I'm just joking. But I just think that he was put in charge by his coach, didn't take it too seriously. We're hearing from the witnesses. Children, however, these are children of all races, of all different brack, of all different backgrounds. We don't know their names, we don't know their ages, but we know that they're younger than 18 because they are minors. You can't see them um through uh the trial because there were minors, so that's why they didn't allow cameras in the courtroom because there are minors. Um, anything we've discussed previously in different episodes when it comes to cases dealing with murder and different things like that, when it is the children they try to um um redact their faces, their names, and different things like that to protect them. So we don't have any camera footage in the room, but we do know that they were of different races and of different um genders. So there were males and females, there were black students saying that Carmelo Anthony wasn't supposed to be underneath the tent. He was asked to leave several times, and so Austin came up to him and said, You need to leave, and said, you know, Carmelo was like, Okay, touch me, see what happens. Y'all are P-U-S-S-I-E S, like calling them names, saying that they were scaredy cats and different things like that. These are what the black, white, all different races of kids are saying that this man is saying that this child is saying to these people, not just Anthony, everybody in the 10. And then Anthony is Carmelo Anthony is saying, you know, touch me, see what happens. Some kids are saying that Carmelo, or excuse me, that um Austin put his hand on him and then he stabbed. Some kids are saying that he didn't even get a chance to put his hand on him, he was automatically stabbed. So the account of that is where we are wishy-washy, regardless. You put your hand stabbed, like that's too much. But some kids are saying he didn't even get the chance to put his hand on the boy, so that is even scarier, right? But then, you know, we hear all of this, and I guess people aren't aware of this, you know, that there are children who were testifying who were there. That's scary, first of all. You're just 16, 14, 15 years old. You're at a track meet, you're chilling, y'all are making Instagram videos, y'all are with your friends, y'all are gossiping, and oh, I like this boy, I like this girl, different things like that. And you have a hostile person who's not supposed to be in your tent. Everyone's like, hey, can you leave where you're not supposed to be in this tent? This is a rule. Everybody stays underneath their own tent. It's raining, we don't care nothing about that. You need to go. Obviously, I I would be the same way. Like, this is the rule. And you have people who follow the rules. And unfortunately, this kid was not one of them, and that's another thing. You, I mean, obviously, you have to teach your children authority, right? Like, if you don't, like, they're gonna be in a world of hurt, obviously. So you can't just, you know, like, hey, you only listen to me, you don't listen to other people. No, there are authoratives that you need to listen to, so and that's you know, life or death sometimes if you're not listening. So, yeah, um, wasn't wanting to follow the rules, and you're like, okay, someone's trying to really regulate the situation and they get stabbed in front of you, like that's scary. And so these kids are telling what happened to for them. This is what they witnessed, and like adults and whoever else on the internet are just like, no, this all-white jury, and it wasn't an all-white jury. We find out now that there were three uh white men, there were in I think four Indians, and there was some Mexicans, and that equals 12. So that, and I think there were 12 jurors, anyway. Regardless, doesn't even matter. There was a plethora of different ethnicities and backgrounds amongst the jury. And we find out now that, you know, as they interview, as they interview the jurors to select which ones, all the black jurors said, we can't put him in jail. No, I'm not gonna convict him. I don't feel comfortable putting a black man in jail, black kid in jail, da-da-da-da-da. And so when you say that, you you automatically disqualify yourself. And they weren't the only ones, it was whites who also said it. They were like, I just I don't feel comfortable sentencing the black kid. And so they also too were not selected. We're finding all of this out now, and so you can't look at race when it comes to the trial, they're not up there saying this black kid Carmelo Anthony. No, they're just like Carmelo Anthony, they're not saying this white kid, Austin Metcalf. No, they're just saying Austin Metcalf. So they have you look at the facts of the case and what happened. You know, if you're on jury, I've never been on jury duty, but this is, you know, common knowledge, obviously. But some people just, you know, aren't jiving with it. And I hate that, you know, because it just it's very, it's very dividing. And it's also very dividing amongst the black community because you have a certain group of people that really just don't care and are like, oh, well, he's white, and that is ungodly. That is not a thought that you should have. Everyone should be protected, no matter their race, you know what I mean? And to see it that way, you have to do some reflection within your heart. Like, I just don't understand how people could think like that. Like, this is what it boils down to like, murder is not okay. Really, it's self-defense. Like, okay, the purport, like, if it's two men, you know what I mean, and they're Carmelo and they're uh Austin, and they are in an alley somewhere, or they're at a bar or something like that, there would be a little bit more justification, but because you're at a school, it's like you shouldn't even have murder on your mind while you're at a school. It just shouldn't occur. And as far as someone putting their hands on you, other people do see differently, right? If you put your hands on me, I'm going to fight back woman to woman. Now, if I'm losing, then there is a chance where, like, okay, I don't know when you're gonna stop, and I want this to stop. So, yeah, there's gonna be a little bit more of a repercussion, and that would be justified. Now, if it's a man attacking me, there, I mean, come on now. I'm a woman, it's a man, he's huge. There, it's a man, like there's gonna be way more of a justification, you know what I mean. But if I'm arguing with someone and I'm being hostile towards them, and then they put their hands on me and I just stab them, a jury would be like, ma'am, you cannot do that. That's you know what I mean. And I've also been taught that, and I feel like that's a lesson for I, but not they, sometimes in the black community. You know what I mean? A lot of black people would be like, you know, I'm not finna argue with you, I'm finna just leave. But then you do have those hostile ones that are like, nah, I'm gonna murder you, and it's like, whoa, whoa. And that's just where I take it back to there really is no like justification for murder unless it is quite literally self-defense, like someone has a weapon on you, like you have no choice. You know what I mean? But to be in an argument with someone, first of all, I just see it in my mind. I'm not gonna argue with nobody. Younger me may have had a different story underneath the guise of alcohol. Definitely did some random arguing and could have lost my life because you never know what someone else is on. Arguing with people who you really do not know in public is just not a good idea. But at the same time, like for other people also to be like, oh, well, just let them be there. Like, no, clearly, this guy is hostile and he has a knife in his backpack. I hate that Austin was the one to go, but he literally, if you already are on some stuff like that, you don't need to be around um society, not saying it like that. I'm just saying this group of people for sure. Look, it's just all very crazy. And he got the sentencing that he got. Unfortunately, this whole thing really could have been avoided had he just been like, I'm not supposed to be underneath here, it's raining. We get that, but you're not supposed to be underneath here. All right, cool, and left. And literally, you could have gone inside. Y'all are at school, so you could have gone inside a school, you could have called someone, you have parents. Clearly, you could have called your parents, um, all types of stuff, you know what I mean? And I just I absolutely hate it, and I hate that it just it's all about this race in this country, and it's like it, it really is if Austin were black and Carmelo was white, right? And you've got the black kid who is like, Look, you have to get out of this tent. My coach told me, you know, like we have to have our people in the tent, other people are not allowed in the tent. I rake, I'm put in charge, you have to leave. And the white kid was like, No, I ain't leaving y'all like that would be the same thing. Like, the kid, the white kid, like, what are you doing, bro? Everyone's telling you to leave, and then you stab him. What are you doing? So it's just it sucks, it sucks the whole thing. So you got really just two kids who lost their life. One kid lost their life being stupid, stabbing someone over nothing, literally, and then you've got someone who literally just was just being a kid and was doing what his coach told him to do and was trying to get this hostile kid out of the tent and somebody crazy just I'm like, who taught him that this is the way? Like, you is a child, you're 17. Why are you stabbing 17-year-olds? That's not even I don't even understand that. But that is the verdict that came out last week, and I mean, it makes sense to a certain degree, it honestly does. Now, in light of that, this past week as well, there was the craziest thing ever, right? I'm traveling. Home from work. You guys know I take public transportation. There are a slew of police cars, investigator cars outside of a hospital. And it's like they're deep to the point of where it's like, what in the world is going on at the hospital? My mind is traveling. I'm like, okay, was there like a crazy homeless person that did something crazy at the hospital? I'm not sure. All types of different stuff. The news cameras are set up, recording everything at the hospital, uh, journalists, reporters, all that. It's deep. So I'm traveling home. I'm like, you know what? I'm just gonna Google it when I get home. It'll probably be on the news. Google, find out, guys. Las Vegas, Interstate 11. There's a shootout on the highway, right? I guess police were doing a traffic stop. Somebody brandished a weapon, started shooting at police officers. Police officers started shooting back car, right? The driver is fine. The passenger, however, was trapped, was transported to that hospital that I passed by. They did later succumb to their injuries, and the person in the driver's seat was arrested behind all of this. I was like, uh, I was not expecting that to be the case. Yes, highway was backed up people at a standstill for over like five hours because of the situation. You know, they have to lock the scene down, they have to take pictures, they have to talk, they have to take pictures of the shell casings, the car, then they have to do everything. They have to tow the car. It's a lot. So literally, you can see the footage like hours cars are stuck on the interstate. I'm like, dang, gas as high as all get out as well. Four plus dollars a gallon, and they're just at a standstill on the interstate. I thought it was just crazy, absolutely crazy. Shooting out here, passing by the hospital, the victim slash suspect, slash criminal. I don't know their rap sheet. It'll it's gonna come out, you know. Um, they, you know, said who the people were, but I don't know what they look like. Like they didn't like have pictures of them quite just yet. I don't think the um, I'm I'm not sure if the mugshot of the driver is out, but the victim who died, I don't know what they look like or what was going on with that. But yeah, absolutely insane. I'm just like, life is life is lifing. And you see what I mean? Like, this is what I'm talking about. I am at work, working, traveling. As I'm traveling, somebody on the interstate gets pulled over by police and then decides to start shooting at them. That is never in my mind, so yeah, that's that's insane. There is no justify like what are you doing? Regular people don't do that. Same thing. You've got a kid. I don't know what I was doing last year at the time of, I think he it was April 2nd of 2025, was um the day that all of this happened and the day that um Austin Metcalf died. Last year, I was transitioning apartments, packing and getting things ready to move. I was not stabbing anyone, so it's just yeah, I don't we live in a crazy, crazy world, and we have to stay prayed up, reading the Bible and understanding what God says about murder, and then also understanding what your state says about murder, because as soon as Carmelo Anthony got caught up by police, he's like, it was self-defense, it was self-defense. Um, I don't know. Before he ever even thought about having a knife and potentially stabbing someone, he should have looked up the laws in the state of Texas and understanding what that looks like. All of us should. Should it even come to the case of self-defense for us? But we shouldn't just outright be promoting murder and thinking murder is the answer ever. Please, please. But that is gonna be the wrapping of this episode. We're discussing all types of stuff over here: America, politics, true crime, murder, and a whole slew of things. You guys, please take it easy out there. Don't argue with people you don't know. You know what I mean? It's just it's not worth it. It's honestly not worth it. Whatever it is, it's not worth it. If they are, you know, uh coming up to you and accosting you, it's just like, uh right, I'm gonna get up out of here. And then if they start chasing after you because you're leaving them, then you have a different story. But yeah, if you are in a parking spot and someone is like, you need to hurry up, um, ma'am, you need to go and talk to a therapist or a psychologist. Uh, I don't know you like that. I don't know why, you know what I mean? Like, you need we need to just teach this to our children, and it doesn't matter what race they are, like, teach them the manners of society, please, please. I beg of you because I don't want somebody's son stabbing me, like, what's going on here? You need to tell your son, your daughter, your persons in your life it's not worth it. Please, please, because I'm not. No, no, thank you. We also have an upcoming episode this Wednesday. It is a heavier topic one. We're gonna be discussing domestic violence and abuse uh and toxic relationships. Um, I think that something that I'm finding out as well, which I knew, but I kind of didn't know, that October is also domestic violence awareness month. So I am definitely looking forward to October and the things that we're gonna discuss then, but I had to release this episode. Um, again, I've stated in the episode, but it is an older episode. The episode is from last year, so last summer of 2025, but I'm just now releasing it. I feel like it's the right time to do so in light of everything going on with me personally, and it is a little more vulnerable, but much needed. Um, so definitely take a listen and let me know what you think this upcoming Wednesday. Stop trying to make toxic happen coming to you then. You guys just take it easy this week. I will see you guys Friday with a brand new episode of It's Okay, comma the podcast. Stay well, be safe, and remember, it's okay.
