Hey, welcome into It's Okay, the podcast. It's Amber. You should already know that. I should already know that too. Anyway, happy day to you. I don't know what day this episode is going to be released on. Monday, Tuesday, not really sure. But how was your weekend? My weekend was very, very nice. I did some spring cleaning, some meal prepping, some body stretching, and a whole lot of chilling. It was very nice. I watched that new Netflix movie. What's it called? I think it's called Voice Voicemails from Isabelle. Voicemails from Isabel, Isabella, one of the two. Um, very, very uh, it was a okay movie. It wasn't what I thought it was gonna be. The concept of the movie was like so stinking cute. But they just had like the most cheesiest rom-com moments that were just like kind of a little bit unbearable, you know? Like the shots of where someone is like staring at someone and like it's like this cute moment. It's like almost so obvious. It's like, can we make it a little bit more cuter? I don't know, the moment, and then oh my gosh, the ending was so just like okay, I I don't want to do spoilers, but I'm gonna do just a bit of a spoiler. So the movie is about voicemails, sister leaving a voicemail to her sister, and it's this whole thing, but the bro the the guy who she ends up with then ends up sending the sister a voicemail. I just was kind of like turned off by that. Everyone seen everyone's seen safe haven, right? So spoilers on that. When you find out that at the end that the girl who was getting, you know, beaten by her husband was seeing the dead wife of her now new significant other. It's just kind of was like, what? Like, okay, it probably was better in the book. And I don't know if voicemails to Isabel is a book, but it's probably the book is probably better. The movie was only like what? I think it was an hour and 47 minutes, an hour and 37. So I don't know. I just think that they could have gone anyway. That's me being a movie critic on the weekends in my spare time. The movie, it was okay though, but it just it definitely wasn't giving what I wanted it to give. It definitely didn't get a I love this double thumbs up for me on Netflix, and it only got a I like it one thumbs up for me. But that's what I did this weekend. It was very, very chill, very chill weekend. But we are coming up on this great weekend, July 4th. Yes. In a previous episode, I mentioned that July 4th is on a weekend. Sometimes I work weekends, sometimes I don't. I definitely want to work this weekend so I get holiday pay. I did ask my manager, like, hey, you know, I got some things coming up. Can I switch my schedule around? Work holiday July 4th. I also want holiday pay. Are you cool with that? Right on. And she's like, yep, we can do it. I'm like, all right, you're thank you. So I definitely will be getting that holiday pay and receiving a little bit of a financial bump with that. Loving it. Loving it for me. So yeah, we're just uh coming up on this great weekend. Very exciting. If you didn't listen to the Juneteenth episode, definitely go back and listen to that one. What was that called? Um, freedom isn't always on time. A little play on words because Juneteenth is the actual celebration day of the actual freedom, the uh free freed of uh of the last slaves. So I thought it was uh very fun to dive into. The next episode will be a little bit more of a July 4th component. We're gonna speak more about that. We we kind of went through a rough timeline in the freedom isn't always on time episode. It was like a introduction, so to speak. So Juneteenth passed. We mainly discussed Juneteenth at large for the most part. Now we're gonna go back and discuss July 4th and still tie it into Juneteenth as well. So be on the lookout for that episode. Uh, I don't know if I'm gonna release it Friday or Saturday. It's gonna be one of the two Friday episodes really have just been like so null and void. I haven't released like a Friday episode in a hot minute. They've been like Monday. I've done a Wednesday episode, a Tuesday episode now. Like it's definitely all over the place. But I mean, it is what it is. So uh we're probably gonna release that episode on the day of or just uh the Friday before. Air just kicked on. The generator, that is my air. I don't know if you guys can hear that. Hopefully not. I still feel like I've gotten the the sound pretty pretty good, but oh, that's my dad calling. I am supposed to go visit him. One second. And we're back a whole day later for me. Same episode for you. Yeah, I that's why I kind of knew like I don't know if I'm gonna release it Monday or Tuesday, because I was gonna be visiting with my dad, and it actually got really later. So I wasn't, I was like, I'm only gonna visit for an hour, so I can come back, finish the episode, but way longer, always, always longer when it comes to talks with dad. It's like, oh, we're gonna do an hour, but we just get to talking and hanging, and it's it's a good time. I gave him his uh belated Father's Day gift, just a picture frame of me and him. Super cute. But, anyways, I can now talk about my Monday. Monday was really it was pretty chill. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't that bad. Um, got to work early and had my coffee, had my morning smoothie, and then I had my lunch, which was like, you guys, I make the best salad. It is so good. I mean, it's not like yeah, no, it's the best salad. It is so good. So let me give you the ingredients, right? Kale. I know. Off rip. I I may have even discussed this before, but we're gonna discuss it again, okay? I'm giving you a potential July 4th side salad dish for your guests. Yes, okay. So I do kale, right? And then you do onions. Uh, you could no, you need to do red onions. I was gonna say if you whatever no red onions, red onions, jalapenos, leave the seeds, all of that. You want it's a spice, it's a spice, but you we're you tone it down with the things that I'm gonna all mention, okay? So you do your jalapenos, um uh, and you just like I cut them, you know, slice them. You don't have to cube them or anything, but just you know, like some just wedge looking slices. Um and same with your um your onion, right? And then you can do uh cucumbers, you can leave them circled, whole, or you can, you know, dice them, fourth them, however you want. And then you do your tomatoes, you can do regular tomato, Roman, cherry, whatever tomato you want. Um, and you do uh whatever type of fruit. So I will do strawberries, I will do blueberries, I will do even just cherries, like cherries that you pit, slice them in half. I will even do those. Um I also will do peaches, just like some type of fruit, and that's like that sweetness and like that goodness that's gonna like melt down the jalapeno, but you still have a little bit of spice, right? Whatever type of fruit you want, those are like your main ingredients. And then I assemble the salad, two limes, you're gonna squeeze two limes over your salad, you're gonna mix that in. It's that like acidity to it, you know. You do that, and it like also kind of like wilts and draws out the flavor of like the onion and the jalapeno, and it's just absolutely amazing. And you also kind of like season your kale a little bit, get it a little marinated, you know. Um, and then I do some fresh black cracked pepper, right? Then on the side of that, you make your own salad dressing, and you just coat that over your salad, and you don't need to add more, you don't need to do anything. The kale is so like thick and um it all sounds very but it's just it's a rough, it's a rough, it's a rough, it's a rough plant. It's a rough, it's a rough plant, it has a rough texture. It definitely could slice your mouth open for sure. It's like a pineapple after eating too much, for sure. But you are marinating it, and someone gave me this good tip, Brianna. She was like, girl, you gotta marinate that kale. And it's true, you have to marinate the kale. It's it's a whole thing. And so you make your own salad dressing. I'll give you what mine is real quick. So nine times out of ten, the salad dressing that I make is this. Um now, I should say, now before it was something completely different. We'll do that if I talk about that recipe some other. Anyway, anyway, anyway. You do a half a cup. If it it depends on how much you're making, you can do a half a cup or a cup. It's I'm making it just for me. So a meal prep of it. So I just do a half a cup. So a half a cup of amazing great olive oil has to be grade A olive oil. Like you need to, you know, spend about a good $15, $20 on your olive oil. If that is the price that you're paying for it, nine times out of ten, it's gonna be decent. Um, you need to make sure it's from one country. When you read the back of it, I've learned this myself. I didn't know I was drinking and eating and consuming trash olive oil with a whole host of other things. We all do, we still do. I'm probably gonna do it later, but it's fine. Regardless, we're trying to be healthy though, on the straight and arrow. We try, we try. So this is me trying, and that is what I do. So half a cup of olive oil. Um, I would have to go and get the one that I have. I don't I don't even have my phone by me or anything, it's on charge. Um, but I got it from Walmart. I spent like $14.48. It's a very specific price, but I feel like those are the numbers in my head. And then I it's like um it's not from Tuscany, Italy, but it's from like that area. Like you have whatever city or province that's in Italy, it's one of those, and it just comes from that one place. It's cold pressed that. So I add that, half a cup, like I said, and then I'll add one avocado. You can do four or two squeezes of lemon or lime. You want to squeeze two lemons or two, or excuse me, one lemon. If you're gonna do a lemon, I would probably just do one whole lemon, but I would do two or four limes, um, depending on your flavor of acidity. But I normally do two. Um, sometimes four, sometimes four, but usually two. Anyway, we're getting into like a whole thing. Anyway, that um a couple of cloves of garlic, fresh uh cracked black pepper, um, maybe a little bit of uh paprika, and then I'll do like two, uh a tablespoon of chipotle peppers. Um chipotle peppers, like the chipotle pepper canned, or not canned, it's actually in a glass jar. But like that little like sauce that's made, it's just like chipotle peppers and its own like sauce and like goodness and just yumminess, chipotle. And that, because I do like chipotle chicken as the top of the salad, it's not just bear salad, it's chipotle chicken salad. Um, I probably should have said that at the beginning, but that's the salad that I make. It's a chipotle chicken salad with a chipotle avocado dressing, made from home, scratched. Doesn't that just sound good off rip? Sounds good off rip. Chipotle chicken salad with chipotle avocado dressing. And I actually now that I think about it, the salad, I in my head am wanting to upgrade it. So a Chipotle Southwest, which those are like sold, I'm pretty sure. Chick-fil-A, Wendy's. I haven't eaten Chick-fil-A in actually quite some time. The last time I I don't even know when's the last time I had Chick-fil-A, but they do have good food as far as like the taste. Um, they still use, you know, like seed oils and um breads that have like 25 ingredients versus the bread having like four or eight ingredients, so you know, chemicals, but it's still really good and they have good salads. But I think that there's there's already such a thing. That recipe is out there, but the fact that I make it from home, it slaps different. But now I kind of want to do upgrade my salad with like the black beans and like the um the corn and do like a Chipotle Southwest chicken salad. We're gonna have to see about that. But yeah, that's the uh salad dressing I do, like the avocado, the garlic, the lime, the olive oil, and then like whatever seasonings, fresh black crack peppers, a dash of paprika. I might do um chipotle. That's pretty much it. I won't add salt because the Chipotle peppers and um um the paprika sodium, like that's already a thing. So that's pretty much the the the the situation I've been doing with that. And so that could potentially be your side for 4th of July. Who knows? Um, but yeah, so but regardless, had my um salad and yeah, did my work tasks, came home, and hopped on the mic, my friends. Hopped on the mic. And I hope your Monday was just as great. Happy Tuesday, I guess. Happy Tuesday. Uh Tuesday. Actually, I have to get up hecka early. I have to get up at three in the morning. Um, I have to catch the bus. I have to be at work at six um to receive uh warehouse, and that is gonna be that. But I get off at two, so I'm gonna do that. Um, I may or may not go grocery shopping. That is the only thing. Go and get my like fruits and veggies for the month of July. Yeah, I don't know if I'll be doing that. I kind of I was contemplating that actually before I started this episode. That's something that I may do. Um so we will see about that. I definitely have to re-budget um meaning like like do your budget for July. I kind of pre-did it, but I need to kind of redo that too. So um, yeah, that's kind of what my plans are today, Tuesday. Um, so yeah. Um but moving forward with the podcast, yeah. So I just am excited for those upcoming episodes that we're going to be doing. I saw a new documentary actually that um it's well, I guess it's not necessarily a documentary, it may be a podcast episode, I guess you can consider it, or an episode or a docuseries, something like that, but by Matt Walsh with the um the history of the Civil War. So I thought I've seen different ones by the History Channel, by the National Geographic, by just other like influencers or other like you know, news channels that have done stuff and released stuff about the Civil War. So this will be my first time watching something produced by Matt Walsh on this. So I'm interested to see what that's about. And we're definitely, like I said, going through the ebbs and flows of that time period. And we discussed, you know, the Civil War, the war over slavery, and what that was like in the episode Freedom Isn't Always on Time. Yeah. So I'm excited to see about that. Um, looking at the aftermath of Juneteenth, I mentioned how I would have loved to have been in Texas. They celebrated great Chicago. Did y'all see the news? I said, Oh my gosh, this is just it's absolutely insane. The shootings of over a hundred bullet casings on the ground, just the image is absolutely crazy. And my dad is from Chicago, and I've spent summers in Chicago as a little kid, me by myself on a plane, didn't get kidnapped, made it to my dad safely, woo-woo, and like had great summers in Chicago, and like it's just crazy to hear like all of this insanity that is going down. And the mayor there, uh Brandon Johnson, I'm sure it sounds like an absolute idiot, imbecile. Someone asked him the question about this, and he was like, slavery, I said, sir, slavery has nothing to do with why there are a hundred bullet casings on the ground. Slaves didn't even have guns. So what does that have to do with anything? It doesn't. So I just I'm just like, we're celebrating these great holidays, Juneteenth, July 4th. Like, I mean, it sounds like it's gonna be inevitable that there possibly will be a July 4th massacre um in Chicago. Uh I'll report back Monday with that news, but it's just it's absolutely crazy to hear about. And then now we've got like gas prices are still super high and all the things politically. I'm still ramming my forehead with all of it. We signed a peace deal with Iran, but they and I said and did like a cute TikTok video. I thought it was cute, about how in Mississippi we I have always pronounced it like Iran, but it's Iran, and I still say Iran by like default, but in Iran, yeah, they like shot drones and like shot at us, and so we shot back. They released the footage of the strikes, and like whenever they re release the footage of the strikes, I'm just like it's just white with like a black figure and like something going at it, and then like just blackness of. Explosion. I'm like, why is there no clear imagery when you guys record? I'm like, we were someone's recording the explosion miles away on their phone, and it looks great. So why I don't understand why the imagery is so terrible, but it's neither here nor there. So that is still going on, and you know, they're like, you know, they need to have it wrapped up by the midterms. We've got, you know, elections coming up. Um, the Supreme Court have been doing their rulings with things. So mail-in ballots, they ruled that um this can continue in it was um a Mississippi rule. So it was something ruled out of Mississippi and it was tried at the highest level. And I mean, this is something that I guess applied in Mississippi, and other states can fight it because they're like, okay, that one state can't like rule over all of us, it's all it's actually not that confusing. I just haven't looked into it like at all, honestly, because I'm just like, here we go. And so now they're also going to be ruling on birthright citizenship, right? So if you live all your life in China and you get pregnant, and then you come to America for like a vacation, and then you have your baby, your baby's just automatically an American citizen, but you guys don't plan on staying here, but your baby just automatically now is an American citizen, regardless of if they choose to stay. They'll get a birth certificate, a social security number, uh everything, because they were born here, but then they're gonna like leave and you know, but they have the citizenship, and so a lot of people are like, that's not right. I kind of am like, I don't know, you know, and then you have the the mindset of like, well, who cares? And it's like uh shouldn't have that attitude either, but also I don't know, I don't know. So they're gonna be ruling on that, but like mail-in ballots is still a thing. So once election day is over, you can receive mail-in ballots for months, and I don't know, it sounds a little weird, sounds like a lot of cheating. I don't know, it sounds weird, but it was a 5-4 ruling. So five justices said yes, four justices said no, and that's what we have in America right now, today. And I don't know if it's gonna be appealed, if they're gonna fight, like I don't know what's gonna happen with that, but there's already like yes, talks from the Democrats, and like, yes, now they get to impeach Trump, and here we go with this again. It's just like a never-ending cycle of this country, and it's like this country's in debt. The way that they're talking, it's like we really have till 2030 to get our lives together, or there's and I even heard something about there being like a a global depression where the whole world I say what is that? You never know. I don't know, I don't know. So it's all very crazy to think about what's going on right now. I don't even know. But uh in other news, locally, what I think is very crazy going on in Nevada right now, it came across my newsfeed and I was like, oh wow, what is this? Now, I had never heard of this case till I looked at the news story. It is about a youth pastor from Nevada, right? Las Vegas area. Him and his wife went on vacation or went, yeah, went on vacation, went on a hype, went on whatever, to Utah, right? They're at Angels Landing, like a national trail there. I've never heard of Angel's Landing out of Utah. And she falls to her death, and it's ruled an accident. That was in 2006. This happens. That's another reason why I never heard of it. 2006, I was like seven, eight years old, seven, six, eight years old. But anyway, uh, I'm hearing about it now. So happens in 2006, right? 20 years later, 2026 this year, police prosecutors out of Utah have pressed charges against him for the death of his wife, Bernadette. David Vadimir and Bernadette, Bernadette Vadimir. Yes, these two from Las Vegas went to Utah, right? She dies. It's ruled an accident. He comes back to Las Vegas and lives life. He was a youth pastor. He's no longer a youth pastor at this time. The news reports kind of described him as former. I don't even know what he looks like, but I know what his wife looks like. She has like brunette hair, white woman. So in her like 40s, I guess. So now he comes back. He's in Nevada. He's actually being held at a local jail here, Clark County Jail. Being held there for the state of Utah. And I guess they're gonna be expediting him to Utah, Utah to try him for this murder. Now, apparently they have new evidence, text messages, calls, evidence, um, claiming that he killed her. Now, I saw something about how he was having an affair with a young woman um at the church that he was involved in, youth pastor. Now, I can't remember if it was underage or not. I feel like I heard that, but I am not sure. Now, this was all in 2006, but they found this out in 2026 this year that he was having an affair on his wife with someone at the church. Yes, he was, and he made comments that his wife would have to be dead in order for them to be together. I said, Y'all, this is crazy. I was like, what is happening? So yeah, this guy is is wild, is wild. Now, I don't know what his wife's like role was in the church. I'm definitely gonna be diving headfirst into this, and we're gonna be talking about it because we've been discussing, you know, relationships and domestic violence and you know, just couples that lead into you know murdering each other. And this is a prime example. And I saw, I actually have to look into this one. I've been seeing it across my feed so many times, but it's about a case where a husband quite literally, you know, they have footage cameras in their house, and he kisses her goodbye, says, I love you, and poisoned her smoothie that he made for her that she walked out of the door with. I don't even know like all of the the details behind it, but I'm definitely gonna look into it and lay. I said it's on video, him kissing his wife goodbye, knowing full well that he poisoned her smoothie that he made for her. She's got it in her hand. Like, what even is going on? So it is just the world we live in is very, it's got a lot of dynamics, a lot of crazy parts to it. It is something, but yeah, I just thought that that was super crazy. So yeah, this uh David Vadimir is being held currently right now at the Clark County Jail in Las Vegas, Nevada. And I just thought that that was very, very wild. I'm like, I like you know, yeah, very uh, very close to him. That one. But yeah, there is a lot going on in this world. We're gonna continue to talk about it. I saw something else about an indictment on fraud in Mississippi dealing with some type of government assistance in some way. I don't know if it's EBT or if it's some type of loan program, I'm not sure, but another indictment coming out of there. I it also came across my newsfeed. I get the news from there as well. And I just am like, there is, it's just it's absolutely crazy this world that we live in every day. I think about it. I'm like, what even? How do we deal with all of this? But we just have to hold on, stay strong, remember that God is on our side, me, Amber, Amber's on our side. Yes, I'm on my side, and I'm on your side too, and I hope you're on my side as well. We may not agree on everything, we may get into a fight or two with, you know, respect, but we're still we're here. We're here. You get it. But no, I just I I hope you guys enjoy the rest of this week. Look out for that upcoming episode for the the the history series that we're doing um on July 4th and on the American Revolution. We're kind of gonna go there first, our detachment from the British Empire. And yeah, all that entails with also the Civil War, because yeah, we won July 4th, Independence Day. Woo woo, but I just uh hope you guys enjoy the rest of the week. Take it easy and don't be so hard on yourself. And remember, it's okay. All of us have problems.
