The Truth Behind That Photo — And Why It Matters More Than You Think

You know those photos online that make some women feel inspired… and make others instantly compare themselves and spiral?
 Yeah. We’re going there.

In this episode, I’m unpacking the real reason one simple image can bring up so much emotion — pride for one person, pressure for another — and what that actually reveals about your values, your goals, and the people you surround yourself with.

This conversation started on a treadmill (as all my best rants do) right after a coaching call, and I realised something big:
A bold fitness photo isn’t ‘too much.’ It’s a filter.
It pushes away the wrong people… and pulls in the women who are ready to rise.
That’s alignment. That’s intention. That’s leadership.

From there, I dive into the difference between looking the part and actually becoming the woman you want to be.
The real transformation didn’t come from a photo — it came from the process:
• Showing up when it was inconvenient
• Nourishing your body like it actually matters
• Training with purpose, not punishment
• Setting boundaries
• Deciding you deserve more
• And being surrounded by people who want more for you too

I share stories from clients with completely different goals — women who want to lose weight, move without pain, feel strong, stabilise their emotions, or just look in the mirror without tearing themselves apart — and why personalised coaching isn’t about “fixing you,” but meeting you where you are and helping you step into who you’re becoming.

We also talk about slowing down online.
 Actually reading captions.
Looking for intention instead of reacting from insecurity.
And why context is becoming the ultimate superpower in a world that scrolls too fast.

If you’re ready to stop chasing validation and start choosing values…
If you’re ready to grow, even if it means letting some people misunderstand you…
And if you want goals that actually mean something — not just ones that look good online —
then this episode is for you.

SPEAKER_00:

So I'm walking on my treadmill right now, so you might be able to hear that in the background, but I am multitasking because I am feeling so fired up today. I've just come off the back of a really, really, really inspirational call and it got the juices flowing in the old nugget, and I wanted to share immediately what was on my mind. And weirdly, it correlates with the post or the picture that I posted on my Instagram today. So it's Thursday, but you'll be listening to this the following Monday. So go back to Thursday. It's basically an image, and I feel like I'm a little bit out of breath as well. Um, I've been walking on this treadmill now for about two hours, so that would make sense. Um, but it's basically an image that I had taken um of me lying on some dumbbells in some underwear, which was incredibly challenging, very, very uncomfortable. It doesn't look it in the photograph, thank goodness, but my goodness, it was very, very challenging. And to get on and off those dumbbells was even more challenging, but such an incredible shot. And actually, of all the photographs that got taken that day, that was one of my favourites. In fact, it is my favourite, and I'm really, really flipping proud of it actually. And I worked with somebody recently within the business, and they said to me, Do you know what, Roz? These photographs that you're posting on your Instagram of you uh having photo shoots, I really feel is a bad idea. It's really giving off the wrong message, it's really gonna detract, if that's the right word, unattract, I don't know, your your dream client, right? The person that you you really really want to work with, which is a midlife woman who perhaps doesn't want to do a photo shoot, who perhaps doesn't want to lie on a load of dumbbells. And in that moment, I was like, oh my goodness, this is the floor of my entire business, you know, this is where I've been going wrong. And then on reflection, I was thinking about this yesterday, and I thought, do you know what? I'm really goddamn proud of those photographs. I'm really goddamn proud of myself for getting myself in that position, in that shape. Why on earth would I hold back from showing what I achieved authentically as myself to people because I'm afraid that I might put somebody off. Because, in my opinion, if I'm putting somebody off, then they're not the ideal client, they're not the dream client, they're not my people, and I'm so passionate about people surrounding themselves with people who are their people, right? Because it will bring out the best in you. And we have clients at Feed My Health who really want to get in the best shape of their lives, shape that they have never believed they could get into, and they are doing it, right? Because that's what they truly, truly want, and that's amazing. But we also have a lot of clients at Feed My Health who just want to focus on, and I say just, but I don't mean just because it's a big flipping deal. Get into the best health of their life, get into the best version of themselves, whatever that looks like, and really honestly, guys, this is the message that I am trying to put across in my content, in my work, in my mission, in my vision. It's not about creating this, you know, fitness model physique, it's about you becoming the best version of yourself, finding that untapped potential and really working towards it. Because trust me when I say, yes, I got an incredible shape for that shoot, but the transformation happened in the process of getting to that point. I taught myself self-discipline discipline, I taught myself about nutrition, I taught myself about movement, I taught myself about energetics, I taught myself about creating a vision based on your values and actually working towards them every single day, regardless of what's going on in your life. When I have three teens, I have a house to run, a husband, you know, 25 million animals. My life is no different to anybody else's life. It's incredibly complicated, full of ups and downs, full of sorrow, full of grief, full of happiness, full of excitement, full of worries. I'm no different. And so, really, the message is that you can achieve whatever the hell you want to achieve. You have to just believe in that that it's what you want and stick to your bloody guns. And if you're looking at an image on social media and you're thinking, Oh, that really is intimidating, that's really putting me off. That's okay. That isn't your person. Maybe I'm not your person, but the kind of people that I want to attract into my world are people who have vision, who are excited for life, who want more, who want change, who know that every day is a day to learn and to progress and to grow as a human and to be around similar, like-minded people, and that's what that image represents to me. And it also represents to me my hard work and the fact that I knew that I had untapped potential and the fact that I actually want to show you guys what you can achieve, and it's not about you can achieve this body, it's about you can achieve your all of your dreams, you can achieve everything that you've ever wanted to achieve in your life, and let me show you how that's what that is all about. So I just really wanted to kind of explain that sometimes we take things from face value, and I get that, and especially with social media, we are bombarded with images and we look at them and we we take it from face value. But I really want you to spend some more time, especially if you find people online that you like, reading reading their captions. For me, I take a lot of time every single day writing the captions, choosing the wording, creating the spacing so that it's easy for you to read, creating the flow, telling the story. Everything is intentional for me, and I really, really would love for my people, and you know who you are, to take some time and read the message because the image is just the image, right? Sometimes that image is powerful and it's there to demonstrate something, but often the image is just the holding space for the caption. Take the time. I know that we all struggle with being present, I know we all struggle with being busy, but take the time because when you do, something that you read, something that you hear can really really change your life, and it can be the difference between staying stuck and staying lost and out of control, and actually just moving forwards and feeling excited again and feeling you're in control because we all have so much life to live, and why not live it in the best possible way, surrounded by the best possible people? And I know that it can be scary to change things, I know it can feel very overwhelming and very daunting. The only thing that we have right now is presence. We do not have the future, it's not promised to us. We we can't change the past. The only thing we have right now is the present. What do you want right now? How can you be present right now? And if it's going and reading a caption and taking one little piece of like a nugget from it and using that to you know catalyst your life, flipping do it. It's time well spent. So, all this to say, what you want in your life, what you truly want in your life based on your values and your values alone, you're so capable of achieving, but you need to allow yourself to be in rooms with people who want more for you, who want to support you, and also more than anything, open yourself up to the possibility that you can, that you can achieve, and everybody's goal and everybody's vision is going to be very different. We have ladies at Feed My Health who just want to be able to move better. We have ladies who want to get you know super strong, we have ladies that want to lose weight, we have ladies that really want to improve their mindset, we have ladies who want to improve their habits and their behaviors and be better parents. Everybody's reasons for change are very individual, and that's why coaching is so flipping amazing, and that's why Feed My Health is so amazing because we work with you one-on-one, because we understand that change only happens when we tap into what you want as a person. It's not an umbrella generic situation where we churn out the same information for everybody and try and get the same result for everybody because not everybody wants the same result, because not everybody's values are the same result, not everybody wants to be lying across a load of dumbbells in their underwear, but you might want to improve your health, improve your sleep, improve your mood, and that is your version of lying across dumbbells in your underwear. And the thing is as well, if that for me was my current goal and prior prerogative and priority, I would be lying across those dumbbells in my underwear every single day. But it it's not at that time. It's okay for what you value to change. For me, my values right now, or my my goals right now are to be really really healthy, really, really optimize my lifestyle and keep things ticking over, honestly. Of course, I want to look great, of course I do. And when you do the habits and you do the behaviors, that does become a byproduct. However, we grow, we change, we evolve, and your goal today isn't going to be the goal that you had last week, it might not be the goal that you have in a month's time, and that is okay, but we have to move the goalpost. There does always need to be something that you're working towards. There does because if you are not moving and evolving and changing, you are literally staying still. Every day we need to be learning something, every day we need to be talking to people and evolving as humans because that's what we were born and destined to do. So find what it is that you really, really, really value and work towards that, and then realize that it's okay if after you've achieved that thing, you don't want that anymore and you want something else. So, I hope that this episode has inspired you in some way, fired you up in some way, motivated you in some way, but just remember that it's absolutely okay to push people away if it's based on who you are, your mission, and your values.
