The ULTIMATE Recycling & Disposal Guide: Disposal Guide
Hey, beautiful people. Welcome back to organizing an A DHD Brain. I'm your host Megs, and today's episode is gonna be super short and sweet. Our kitten, Theodore had emergency surgery last week, and so this week has been insane. We have been not only constantly monitoring a cat that needs supervision, but also doing our regular routine. Me building a small business, my husband working his job, and then of course our girls needing support from us as well. So lots going on in this household. But I do wanna leave you with one tidbit of what I'm gonna be sharing in next week's episode. Before I do, if you do want some additional FaceTime with me, come to organizing an ADHD brain.com/community. There's body doubling sessions, body doubling is really cool. There have been people asking more and more about this, and really it's just. This proven concept for people with A DHD to be able to get things done. The idea is that you log into a zoom, there's a bunch of people on the Zoom. We all say what we're gonna do, and then when we do it, we come back and say what we did. You can also do this with someone physically in person, and it's really incredible the way that our brain works and how this works for us. In addition to the body doubling, we do q and A sessions and virtual decluttering sessions. All kinds of really cool stuff. What I wanna leave you with today is, how to let go of some of the stuff in your house that you know, you wanna let go of, but you don't actually know how to dispose of them. Things like batteries. Or paint or old technology that you might have old personal data on there. A couple months ago, I was cleaning out a part of our garage and I had a bunch of old paint in there. I had no idea that you're not supposed to store paint in the garage if it's not temperature controlled. Well, I learned the hard way, and that's okay because now I know, but all of the paint that we had had in the garage was no longer good, and I knew I wanted to get it out because it just doesn't belong in my space any longer. So I scheduled an appointment to go to one of these events in my town where you can bring all your old paint, they'll pick it up for you and take it away and recycle it. Somehow I got the dates and the town incorrect. So I drove to the place it was supposed to be and no one was there.
Yeti Stereo Microphone-1:At that point I was determined and I decided I was gonna call any place in town that sold paint and find out where I could recycle paint. The first place I called, which was the closest to me at that time, was a Sherwin Williams, and lo and behold, I called them up and they said that they'd take it all.
Yeti Stereo Microphone:So I brought all the paint over there I think they only left two cans that they couldn't take because it was not in the original packaging. It was awesome. we tried it again this weekend and it worked. It was great, and I double checked with them. They said that they do not take stain, but they do take any paint in its original can. So if you have any paint lying around your house. And you just need to get it outta there. Find your local Sherwin Williams and bring it on over. Okay. And then my husband just reminded me that they even were telling us about how they recycle the paint or what they turn the paint into. I don't know the how, but they'll actually turn the paint into those little rubber pellets that they have on playgrounds and stuff like that. So super interesting. Although now that I think about that, isn't that harmful? I don't know. Doesn't that seem harmful? It's not led. It's not lead. So we're good. Okay. So anyway, come back for more. We're gonna be talking more about how to get rid of the stuff that you just don't know how to get rid of. If you're listening to this, it's time. Let's start making some movement. And I know that you know it's time. That could be the one thing that you do. It only takes one thing to get the momentum going, and then you're gonna lose momentum again. And that's okay because then you're gonna listen to the podcast and you're gonna pick up momentum again.'cause you're gonna hear a good idea. You're gonna figure out what one thing you could do and you're gonna pick up that momentum again. If you're truly feeling stuck. Book a call with me to see if it's a good fit and let's see if a 90 day coaching program is exactly what you need to get started and to achieve a goal where you can show yourself and prove to yourself that you can do this. It's just that we're not really great at it right away, and there's nothing wrong with that. Thanks for tuning in to this super duper short episode. I hope you have an incredible week. I'll talk to you next week.
