Most people treat a clean lab report as a verdict. Nothing flagged, nothing to do.

Brian Kennedy has spent three decades explaining why that reading is generous. He trained at MIT, led the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, and now directs the Centre for Healthy Longevity at the National University of Singapore. His view is that medicine learned to define disease and never got around to defining health, so the ranges on your lab report mark the minimum that keeps you alive and the maximum that doesn't kill you. Everything in between gets called normal.

Dr. Kevin White sits down with Brian to talk about what belongs in that space. Kennedy's team went looking for the people who are aging unusually well and found their numbers cluster in a far tighter band than the one your lab prints. He is 59, has nothing on his chart, and treats his own numbers anyway.

They also get into why waiting for a diagnosis is a bad trade, what he takes and why, and what his lab found when it bought 16 supplement brands and measured what was actually in the bottles.

"If somebody says they can tell you exactly what to do to make you 10 years younger, they're lying to you or they're lying to themselves."

If you've ever been handed a normal lab report and wondered what it actually bought you, this conversation gives you something better to aim at.
