Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Strength in Numbers Unbreakable Mind, Unstoppable Strength. It has been a hot minute since we have sat down and chatted, and I couldn't think of a better time than today to talk about what has been going on in the tonal And especially with me, there's been so much going on as of 2025. So let's start off with the first thing that Tonal released, a Tonal 2. whole new machine that goes up to 250 pounds. We've got Aero that's going to give us our cardio. Um, the screen, I know if you follow me on social media, you have heard me talking about the screen, like how bright Joe was, like, I literally thought that I got my eyes fixed. Like, it's like, he is so bright. He is like high def, all the colors are so bright. So mind you, our tonal was like over five years old. We bought our tonal used on the marketplace. And let me tell you that OG tonal is a savage. We never had any problems with her. Um, with buying her used, she was just a great machine. And between my husband and I, we put probably 17 million pounds on that machine. And she was still a truck end. She was a boss. Like so many milestones were hit on that tonal machine from, uh, starting out with Joe when all the New York coaches started on tonal. And that started my strength journey. And, uh, also when I hit my 75 pound bench, when I hit my 200 pound hip thrust, when I hit my a hundred pound bench, um, when we conquered so many of those difficult programs that Joe dishes to us. And it's just been, it was such a journey on that machine and it was definitely hard, uh, for her to go, uh, because I was very attached to her. Uh, we had done a lot and, you know, like if you have listened to my previous podcasts, um, the tonal community and the tonal New York coaches were there for me when I needed them. The most and it was just a incredible, incredible journey and it was just another chapter that I had to close and start a new one. So as you've seen it, like I said, if you follow me on Instagram, I got the tonal too. And she is lovely. She is so lovely. Um, I've, uh, when I was in New York, I got the, uh, Tonal 2 probably like a week before I was leaving, uh, to go to the Tonal Training Lab. We're going to get to that. Um, but I never, I barely used it. I did one class. I did the arrow just to see how it was. And oh my gosh, I'm like, this is so hard. But I was like, I was determined, like, I am going to learn this because this will be so good for my back gains. But my husband was using it the whole entire time and he loved it. His favorite is the selfie screen. He loves the picture. Um, but it is so much quieter. Um, our tonal is in our basement and when I'm upstairs on the second or third floor, I barely hear him now, which is, that is a game changer. Um, that ropes inside the tonal are like solid as a rock. Like they are just going to last for. So the tonal to, um, right now they're doing a trade in. Um, they're doing like a thousand dollars for a trade in for your tonal. Um, I know a lot of people in the otc were just like really kind of upset with that um, but you kind of have to think of it like there's people like me that have like a Five year plus old tonal and then you have people that maybe just bought it this year That's only a couple months or a year old so it's like the It's hard to gauge what you're going to do a trade in because some people have had their tonal a lot longer and there's a lot more pounds on it than there's some that had barely used it. So I'm thankful that they offered an opportunity to do the, um, swap for people. And, you know, it's just, it's a whole thing with technology. It's the same thing. You know, when I was in the whole Peloton universe, it It was the same thing. You know, the, uh, Peloton bike was there, the base one. And then they came out with a Peloton plus, which was more expensive, but had some little flashy, you know, uh, Aesthetics and, uh, had the pivot screen. It just had a lot of other stuff. And people are like, well, why can't you do it on the other bike? Why can't we just do like a switch out? It's the same thing. It's just like when they did the Peloton tread plus to the belt tread. So it's just kind of, you know, it's, it's the basis of this, you know, technology and I want tonal to be around forever. So I want them to be successful. I want total to be successful. The coaches, this community. So I'm all for them doing, um. Um, new things and bringing new people and, you know, with the new tonal and, you know, the new stuff that's coming out, going to be coming out all the time. So I am all for it. So the tonal two is I love it. Um, but after the tonal two, you know, uh, tonal brought out to us the tonal training lab, wow. I did not have that on my bingo card at all. Like I did not think I was going to be going back to New York. So when I saw that we were going to get an opportunity to go to New York and train with all the New York coaches and sign up for classes and get trained by them in person using your tonal, I was like, I'm going I'm going to go for like two days and I'm going to sign up for as many classes as possible. And yeah, I was a little cray cray thinking that I could handle all the classes, but I was like, I am going to spend as much time as I can with these people. And that's exactly what I did. And I know a lot of people, you know, cause I'm very introverted, you know, also with my germaphobe. Um, and going to New York city is not for the faint of heart. It was very much a struggle, but I had one of my very good friends, Leah, with me that she like totally gets me and was totally understanding. So it was, it was very fun. Um, I got to New York on Sunday night. Well, Sunday, no, it was actually Sunday afternoon. Because I was actually able to, uh, get to the tonal training lab and to get to see coach Ash, which was incredible because I didn't think I was going to be able to see her, uh, because my flight was actually an empty flight. So I was able to Get to New York a lot faster and was able to spend more time with Leah and more time with coach Ash. So that was like, so incredible. And the tonal training lab, when I first saw it, I was like, this is, this is so exciting. Like I was like crying, I was shaking and coach Ash is like, you're literally trembling. Cause I was so excited. excited. I was so excited. And I think that was like the, um, you know, let alone getting to work out with these people, but getting to see them because I miss them terribly. I miss seeing these people in person. Um, they mean so much to me. So it's just like when I saw coach Ash, like she was the first coach I saw. So the joy was over filling. What's like overflowing and she got it all. She was probably like, Katie, you're a little, you're, you're, you're a little cray cray. I'm like, I was just so excited, but it is definitely hard being a germaphobe slash introvert going to New York. Um, like I was going to check into the hotel and there's literally a guy sitting down there that was like talking about how he was, um, in his room with the flu. It was quarantine and I'm like losing my mind. I'm like, why are you sitting down here with all these people in the lobby sitting on the chair? And finally the manager came. Um, we stayed at the Walker Tribeca. I don't recommend staying there again. I will, um, it is nothing like the Greenwich, uh, Village Walker Hotel. It was definitely not my favorite stay. Um, I had spoken with them before I left and making sure that my room was ready. And when I got there, they were like, Hey, we can put you on the second floor. And I'm like, no way. It's going to be so loud. Like, I don't, I made that mistake. Um, when I stayed the second time, when I came from the tonal talk, I stayed on the lower floor and it was absolutely awful. Um, so I was like, no, I want, I paid for a higher floor. I upgraded. So please give me my nice up floor. Well, I didn't get my room until three o'clock, like right on the buzzer of the time that I, like, they normally check people in and I was just like, that's fine. I was able to hang out with Leah. Um, we actually met a new friend and we were going to go get coffee. And, you know, the other funny thing about New York that I have found is they don't like burn your face off coffee. Why, why, why don't you like your coffee hot? Like I, I am like, it needs to be hot. Like it's cold outside. All your places of business are boiling hot inside. I'm sweating. I'm perimetopausal and I'm like sweating, trying to eat or drink. But yet my food is like room temperature. I am quite confused. quite confused. So, you know, even though I was like, I'm like, can I like, can I get hot? Can I get it? Like, like I want hot, hot, hot, hot, hot, like hot. And they would like bring it, they're like, okay, it'll be hot. It'll be hot. And they bring it out to me. I'm like, this is like warm temperature. And like all the people, they pack you in like sardines in these restaurants in New York. And you're like sitting next to people and you can hear their full blown conversation. Like if they sneezed, my germaphobe self right there, if they sneezed, they would sneeze on your food. I, I don't know how New Yorkers do it. Y'all are ballers. Because I definitely could not, could not do that. Like I need my space when I eat. I am sweating bullets. So then that night, um, after we spent some time with Ash, we went and had coffee. And then we went back to the hotel because Katie had just gotten off a plane and was like over people. I was like, I need to hide. Um, nothing is where you know, and that's why it's like so important of like putting yourself in these situations is like pushing yourself to do these difficult things when you definitely do not want to, because I could totally hibernate, like I could live in my house and absolutely go nowhere and be totally fine with it, but I never want to miss these opportunities to see the people that I care so much about. So I will man up, I will man up and put myself in the line of fire. And I and I will have the best time but like behind closed doors, I'm like, oh my god I need I need to hide Leah. I need to hide. I'm like, I'm just gonna go home my hotel room I need to take a shower like I took 15 billion showers Oh, and then another funny part was, I, I told her when, uh, we were on our way back to the hotel to check in, I was like, I need to stop and get Lysol, disinfectant, Clorox bleach to clean my hotel room. It's so, it, but you know what? I had the cleanest, uh, hotel room because I cleaned up after myself, bleached everything. It was like spotless because I don't trust other people's cleaning. I just, especially hotels, you know, and like the bedding and it's just like traveling with me is not easy, but it takes certain people to be able to laugh about it because I do, I do, I do laugh at myself because I know how, Like me doing it helps me And then other people they joke about it and that makes me feel not so awkward when I have to talk about it And it's more of a jokey manner. So it's not so serious and it definitely helps me stay like not so um Like social anxiety when people I feel like i'm being judged but leo was an absolute champ. I love her to pieces So we got back to the hotel and then we had our dinner plans. We went to Al Shabaal, uh, which is a place that my homeboy, Joe Rodonis, recommended. It was, the food was absolutely delicious. Like the, the hamburger and the bacon, I was drooling and the fries, but then again, then again, it was a broiler. I learned in that restaurant and I told Leah, they turn this heat up to make people, um, eat faster or leave to get out because there's just no way that, um, that it like, do you know who could eat like that? Who could eat like sweating? I was sweating and I'm looking at Leah. I'm like, I'm just sweating. Like I can't eat. I can't eat being hot. Who can eat being hot? I certainly can't. But the food was really good. It was lukewarm again. And I'm like, how is a boiler? Okay. Katie, get off your soft box. I'm sorry. I'm serious about my food. Like you mess with my food and my protein. We're going to have problems. We're going to drop some elbows. Um, So after that, we, we actually got to see snow that night. It was like a little snow flurries, which was really cool to see snow in New York. So I was really excited about that. So then we went back to the hotel. We were all, we were in bed, I think by like eight o'clock, eight o'clock, I think was the time we got back. And I was like, I was so ready after flying all day. Uh, getting up at like 3 30 in the morning here in Georgia and then flying and then, you know, rushing around and getting set up in the hotel and, you know, then coming back after dinner, taking another shower. And the next morning, The next morning we were up, gosh, I think I was up at like three 30. I barely slept. I think Leah and I were both talking about like how loud the hotel was and we just kept, both of us, when we woke up, we were like, we kept waking up in the middle of the night. It was just not, it was just not very good sleep. And, um, we finally got up to get ready to go to the tonal training lab to see coaches. Uh, Joe and C. R. Shelby. And it was just like, I was so excited walking up to the tonal training lab. And I'm like, Leah's like, there they are. I'm like, where are they? I'm like, I don't have my glasses on. Everybody is just blurry. I don't know who you are until I'm close. And we got like a little bit. And then I was like, I saw Shelby at the desk. I saw Troy. I saw Jenna. And then there's you can't miss joe. I mean joe, you just can't miss him and I was just like, oh my god I'm gonna lose it So then we walked in and I was just like, all the stress, all the anxiety, all the worries all left. And I could not believe that, um, I'm getting this opportunity to train with Joe. And meet Shelby for the first time. It was such a gift. And I'm so thankful that Tonal was giving us this opportunity as members to be able to work in person with these amazing trainers and coaches. Um, because it was a blast. And especially in this class, I hit 5 million pounds, which, I have celebrated every single milestone with coach Joe. Um, I was there for his first day at tonal, which was when I started training on tonal and, uh, we celebrated 1 million, 2 million, 3 million, 4 million. And now we hit 5 million pounds in person. I don't think there will ever be a milestone that will ever top that. Being able to celebrate that with him. In person, this is just everything because I've worked so hard on, you know, my goals and, you know, things I want to do for the community and things I want to help people with. And, you know, it was just like so emotional that, um, I really, I just was like overflowed with joy when that happened, because it's being surrounded by tonal. Um, you know, they all know how much we all work hard for, you know, these milestones on tonal because it's not given like every single milestone is so earned. So it is a big deal. Every bit, every milestone is a big deal. So. That was the most incredible part. Um, the most unincredible part was that how many Bulgarians I was going to be doing. Um, because I didn't realize that all the tonal training lab classes were pretty much the same. So I was doing a lot of the same moves, um, every day. So I am not a lower body girl. Uh, I was like, we are doing recovery. Yes, we are for as amount as I'm going to have to do hitting the same muscles over and over again, we're doing recovery and let alone having to do arrow six times. It's just like, I'm going to crash. But I, I held it, I held it. Um, it was just, it was incredible getting the help from Troy that was there, being able to pick his brain. And of course, you know, talking with Joe and getting to, you know, ask about my training. And I think that was such the other great thing about this, um, tonal training lab is that you got the opportunity to like see. Sit and talk with these coaches and the people that work for tonal behind the scenes and, you know, the coaches, and then, you know, there's other people that were there that, um, work for tonal that were there that I was able to meet. And it was just such an amazing experience, not being rushed, not being, um, you know, it wasn't just like a photo op with them. They were, they were there to like answer all your questions. And, you know, I definitely feel like so more amped up about my 20, 25 training season. About all my goals that I'm going to be achieving this year. So it is definitely, I am, I am on cloud nine and I'm not coming down anytime soon. So I had Joe and Shelby in the morning and then I had Joe again. I've never done so many Bulgarian split squats. I think I did over a hundred. I think It's a lot but it was so fun like joe's energy is just like I I I You know joe has you know posted before on his instagram of when he trained people at uh tone house Um, and it was just always that like oh my gosh, I want to see that energy like I want to see it like I want to, because nothing, nothing compares to like feeling, you know, you see it on the screen and stuff like that, but nothing compares to feeling the energy of these coaches in a room. Because a lot of these coaches were training, you know, are used to training in person and now they're on a screen. And it's quiet. Like, I don't know how they do it. And it's quiet in the tonal lab. There's no music. There's no, you know, they can't see us. There's, you know, they, they do have like a, um, You know, when they do the live classes, they can see names across the screen. But when they do these demand classes, there's nobody. So it's just like, I feel like this tonal training lab is so good for them that the energy that they feel from us, that's what they're going to, that's what, that's how it is at home. Like, that's why I was just like, you know what? I'm going to bring my most authentic. I rolls and all to this tonal training lab and bring my energy that I have so that they know that like this. This is how you make me feel. You make me feel so good inside. You make me feel so proud. Um, and just being able to experience all of that with them was the best. Um, so after I had Joe for the second time, Um, I was able to go back to the hotel. I got a beautiful, uh, bagel and coffee. I got iced coffee this time. So, um, I didn't have to worry about it being hot enough and I got ready for coach Casey. So coach Casey, she has like a very, very, very, very special place in my heart. Um, you know, when I was booking classes for the tonal training lab, I was hoping to get all the coaches, like I was going to be able to see all of them. Um, but sadly that wasn't the case, which it really, that's, that's one thing that I kind of wish that it was, you know, maybe had done like tag team classes. Uh, with the coaches so that we were able to see all of them because I hated picking. Um, you know, and, you know, how it worked out for me was Shelby, Joe and Casey for the coaches that I was able to see because I don't live in New York. So the opportunities for me to go is pretty much when I go one time, that's who I'm going to be able to see. And that, that, and I saw coach Ash luckily. Uh, so that, that was, that, that's the hard part is picking. Um, but coach Casey, her whole story of, you know, everything that she's overcome and how she came with Joe is pretty much the same is that with the overtraining and how they got to where they are and all of the, um, you know, certifications and stuff. studies that they have done. And I was really excited to talk with Casey about, um, you know, menopause, perimenopause, muscle building, um, with her and, you know, how she's look, uh, been reading about breath work and hormonal health. which I think is an unbelievable conversation to have. And I'm excited and hopeful that tonal will start having more of those conversations for my age, for us women that are going through hormonal changes and talking more about how strength training, breath work, and all these other things can be helpful in our transition. So. That coach Casey is just, she is just the most beautiful human. She is such a beautiful human. Like when you hug somebody that there's just, and Joe's the same way in Shelby, the most genuine people at tonal. And I, I just can't stress enough how amazing these people are and what they do for us, because you can go to other apps and other, you know, whatever your net, your, In my opinion, because I've been on other apps, not just Peloton, but other ones. I've never gotten the feedback, coach help in the, and, uh, from people behind the scenes on Tonal like Jenna and Troy, I've never gotten help like I have. being at tonal. Um, you post any question on the OTC and you're going to get help. You're going to get flooded with form help. You're going to get flooded with program suggestions, you know, people talking about their goals and that's, and you know, it just fires you up so differently from just doing random stuff and feeling like, you're not really getting the help that you need. And it has just been an incredible three years for me on tonal. So actually I totally forgot, like before the Casey thing, we had a muscle matters talk, speaking of perimetopause and muscle, um, which was very interesting. Um, you know, and I, I had asked about, you know, if women were considered in any of the studying studies when it came to hypertrophy. And he said, you know what? Women just don't want to be involved with it. They don't want to just study one muscle. And I'm just like, I'm here for you. I'm here for you. Okay. We can do delts. We can do chest pecs and we can do lats. I'm here for it. What you want me to lock in for like two months, three months doing lats. I'm all for it. But we would have some, uh, problems if it came to, uh, quads, hamstrings and glutes, just saying. Um, but it, that was really interesting. Uh, so I really enjoyed that. And then we were able to play around on the tonal twos with doing some drop sets. Like feeling that failure. Which is something that I've been struggling with and that was really um, I was excited to do that with Troy there Um to be able to ask questions with So then the next morning Next morning Kate. Well, Leah had to leave. Leah left me. I was devastated. That was hard Um, she went back home. So I was on my lonesome Um, on Tuesday, uh, so I had coach Joe again and coach Casey again. They got me double, actually Joe got me triple and Casey got me double. I, I was like, they're going to be on Katie overload. Um, but. It was just amazing classes. They were a little slightly different. Thank goodness. But I did have to hit Joe's and Casey's were like the same class. And then like, for some reason, Casey got me like all excited. Like, she's just like, I'm going to make, she's like, we'll, we'll make it, you know, we'll make it special. We can't change the moves, but we'll make it special. So I was just like, okay, maybe she might, you know, put some bicep curls in or something or other. No, no, no, no, no, no. You know what Casey did? She put pushups in between arrow sets. I about dying. I was like, she was like sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. She would come up to my tonal and she would be pressing the weight up. And I'm just like, I'm like, girl, just. It was my last class. So I'm like, do it, Casey, do it like let's, let's ramp it up. Let's close it out. Right. And just like, do it. So that was just like, it was so amazing closing out my last night with coach Casey, um, you know, my little EDM heart girl, we were able to jam it out. So that was fun. Uh, so that was the end of my. Um, no, I didn't get checked by security actually, you know what, on my way out of Atlanta, go through, I did beep, they did like pat me down, but my luggage didn't get flagged this time. Um, I was able to get through in and out of security fine. So it was very non stressful. It was a very non stressful trip. Um, it's just, you know, just the, like the food and the coffee thing. You mess with my coffee. I just can't. Um, so I can't speak enough about going to the tonal training lab and experiencing this. Like, I know there's only a couple of weeks left to this. Um, so if you are in New York or, you know, if you're like a short plane right away and you can swing it, I can't recommend it enough. Okay. It was the best experience. And I really, really hope that tonal moving forward does more things, uh, with the coaches out in the community with us, with members, um, you know, get them on a plane, get them on a plane, uh, send them to Atlanta. There's a store that just opened up. Like, can we come to Atlanta? I I'm a little bit New York over. Like New York once a year, because it literally has been, I've been to New York once a year in February, like four times now. So that must be my time to travel is like February. Um, so I just really hope that they keep putting the coaches out there and, you know, maybe get them to travel some, some a little bit, you know, throughout and get the coaches interacting with the members, because I think they are just like, they are the selling point, like they are it, they, you know, let alone this community is what makes tonal so amazing, but these coaches are the glue. And, um, They, they, they are just, I, for me, um, they've changed tonal in my opinion. Uh, cause I can remember tonal before and I definitely don't feel like it's the same as it is now. Um, and you know, even now in the. Tonal community. It's, it's, it's more seeing women posting their strength gains, women posting their flexing women, putting themselves out there for, you know, strength training. And I never saw that before in the tonal community. And now it's just like, it's so inspiring. And I think that the ties are turning and women are taking up space with building muscle. And you know, I am here for it. I am here for it. So I am really excited about the 2025 training season. Um, I've started, um, I'm in house of gains right now. School of gains. Why do I keep saying house of gains? House of volume is messing me up. I did this to Troy and he's like, you keep mashing them. School of gains, Katie. I'm in school of gains with Joe. Um, we are patiently waiting for Joe's new program to drop. Um, when I was there in New York, he was watching the promo video and I was just like, I was just watching his facial expressions. I am anticipating this. Like I am so excited to see what this is. And I'm just like, I'm like, don't tell me anything. I want it to be a surprise. Like, I don't want to hear, I'm like, I just want to watch your facial expression. But that, that, that, that is the telling sign of what I'm preparing myself for. So don't tell me because I just want to be so excited. So, um, all I know is that this is going to be a doozy. Um, Joe, like loses it halfway. So I'm excited to see that part when Joe just totally, uh, goes off his rocker, because those are the best moments. Like when Joe pushes himself, I mean, he pushes himself a lot in these. Some of these programs and classes when he's lifting, because you can look at, look at his numbers and let alone him doing his personal training and, you know, working on his goals and stuff like that. But then on top of doing, you know, doing tonal workouts, that man's nuts. He's off his rocker. So I mean for him to like talk about like how this this program like about took him out and You know with doing the drop sets and stuff like that So we do know that there's drop sets in this upcoming program with him. So There's that so this is going to be a doozy And I hope I get a bunch of you guys to jump on and we kind of do this together Um, I think you know, I absolutely love The way I train, um, I absolutely love how it's, um, you know, seeing how the, how your phases pan out and you feel differences and how, when you work on certain sequences, you're like that sequence really worked for me. And it's such an amazing thing to kind of like take notes during programs like these. Because then it like makes it easier you can really dial in on which programs you take because then you know What works for you because you know at the end of the day tonal puts out programs for the masses So every program is not going to be for you. Every program is You know, not going to be focused, you know, yes, muscle building and you have your lean and you have your hit and stuff like that, but you know, you have to figure out what works for you, you know, because they are programs that are put out for everybody. So, you know, just like shoes, you know, it's all not the same size and you just have to find the right shoe that feels comfy, cozy. And you can just keep progressing like that. Like Joe talks about, you know, find a style of training you truly enjoy and just get better at it. And that's how I feel. Um, because you know, there's, you know, I think sometimes people think that like everything works for me. It's not true. Um, I've had, you know, some classes, some programs, some sequences and whatnot that just do not work for me. And that's totally fine because everybody, you know, everybody's body is different. Everybody's body is going to, uh, react differently. So it's just like, I always talk about having a fitness journal and writing it down each program, how you're feeling. And, uh, what moves feel good and which moves don't. So, um, just keep that in mind when you're doing programs to keep, you know, keep a little journal, but overall, this has been such an exciting start of 2025. Um, I'm really excited to see what. Our, uh, year holds for us and to keep crushing goals with Joe and to see what else tonal brings to us. Um, because, you know, I think this year is going to be an incredible year. in the tonal community. And, um, I'm excited to, you know, grow with everybody, get stronger with everybody. Um, I'm excited to see everybody just like reach whatever goals that they want to reach. And, um, you know, with the whole toll tonal training lab and the tonal too. I'm just on cloud nine. And I couldn't be more excited for what's to come. And, um, you know, I just wanted to sit down and just have a little chat and kind of talk about the little, you know, tonal training lab and the tonal too, you know, cause I talk about it on my Instagram, but it's really nice just to sit and kind of just have a powwow talk with everybody and joke about stuff. So I really hope you enjoyed. This podcast and, um, more of these will definitely be coming back since I'm done with my schooling. Um, I did do my CPT. So that is out of the way. Now we're working on our corrective exercise. So there's still a lot going on with school wise, but it's just not as much, not much like time based. So I have time, but, um, yeah, we've got a lot of exciting year. So I hope you guys enjoy this podcast and I will see you next time.
