You are doing all the right things, clean eating supplements, better sleep, but your hair, it's still thinning. It's still not growing. So what gives, in today's episode, I'm breaking down three unexpected reasons your hair hasn't bounced back yet, and what to do to finally switch from shedding to growing. But before we dive in, if you're new here. Welcome to the Balance Hormone Solution podcast. I am your host, Tracy Aaron, registered nurse and functional hormone specialist. I help overwhelmed women decode their hormones, ditch the guesswork, and finally feel like themselves again. So if you love what you hear today, would you leave a review? It helps more women find this life-changing info and keeps the podcast growing strong. So, let me guess. You've Googled every reason for hair loss known to man. You've added collagen. You've checked your thyroid, maybe even started biotin again, and yet your part keeps widening your dread, washing your hair because the drain tells you more than your doctor ever did. Well, friend, I have been there and I've walked dozens of clients through the exact same frustration, and the truth is regrowing hair in midlife takes more than good shampoo or supplements. It takes getting under the hood of your hormonal. Engine. So today I'm giving you the three hidden blocks, keeping your body in shed mode, and simple shifts that tell your hair follicles it's safe to grow again. A few years ago, I had a client named Rachel. She was 47, a mom of three running a business and always busy. Can you relate? So she came to me for energy issues, but what really brought her to tears was her hair. She'd done everything right, thyroid meds, iron supplements, cutting sugar, but her ponytail was still shrinking. So after we ran her Dutch test and looked at her stress and detox systems, everything clicked. It wasn't just about hormones, it was about how her body was simply trying to survive. And once we addressed the real roots, her liver, her blood sugar, and her nervous system, her hair slowly, steadily, came back. But more importantly, so did she. So number one, your detox pathways are sluggish. Let's start with the liver. If your body can't efficiently clear used up hormones like estrogen or DHT, which is a potent testosterone metabolite, they end up recirculating and guess what DHT does? It shrinks hair follicles, but it's not just hormones. Think pesticides, plastics, perfumes, everyday exposures. Create a toxic backlog your liver has to handle. So what helps this, I want you to aim for 25 grams of fiber daily chia, flax, greens, vegetables, hydrate with mineralized water. Add a pinch of sea salt to your water bottle. Absolutely use some electrolytes and support phase two detox with lots of cruciferous vegetables. Maybe something like Brock shot, which is one of my favorite. Broccoli sprout supplements or dandelion tea. Your liver isn't lazy. It just gets overloaded. So give it a break and it'll thank you with better hair. Number two, your blood sugar's still spiking and crashing. You don't need to be diabetic to have blood sugar issues. I. Midlife hormone shifts reduce insulin sensitivity, which means that your body overreacts to carbs. Maybe when carbs were just fine 10 years ago and all of a sudden they're not. It's because it crashes harder after meals now, and every spike in blood sugar triggers cortisol and elevated cortisol. Well, that signals to your body. We are in danger mode and in that state, growing hair just simply isn't a priority. So what helps? Eat every four to five hours with balanced meals, enough protein, fat, and fiber, and walk after meals, even just 10 minutes, helps to stabilize glucose, limit those naked carbs, toast, fruit, and crackers, not to be eaten without some form of protein or fat alongside them because stable blood sugar equals stable hormones, which is a green light for hair growth. And lastly, number three. You simply haven't shifted outta survival mode because hair is a luxury item. Your body only grows it when it feels safe. I see so many women doing all the right things while still living in a constant stress state over exercising, undereating, rushing from task to task. Your nev nervous system thinks it's being chased by a bear. So what helps a daily walk unplugged? I'm serious about this. No podcasts. No email, just you in nature. In your presence. Try humming. Or 4, 7, 8, breathing to activate your vagus nerve. Or pick one nighttime ritual that signals it's safe to rest. Now, how about a warm magnesium drink, gentle stretching or prayer when your body finally gets the message that you're safe. It shifts into repair, and that's where the regrowth begins. So choose one of these three areas to focus on this week in. Increase the amount of fiber in your diet and add in mineral water, blood sugar, balancing meals, or a daily nervous system. Reset like a 10 minute unplugged walk, and then watch what happens. It's not just about your hair. But your mood, your energy, your sleep, your sense of calm, healing starts when your body feels supported and your hair, it's just one of the many signs if it's working.'cause your hair isn't stubborn and your body isn't broken. It's just waving that white flag. It's begging for safety, for nourishment and rhythm. This episode isn't just about adding more to your plate of things to do. It is about making your body feel safe enough to grow again. So if this resonated, share it with a friend who's been staring at the drain and wondering why no one has answers.
