Ops Quickies – snackable episodes on tech, tools, and systems. 🍿
So many acronyms, but what do they mean!?
This one’s for anyone wondering: what’s the difference between a PSA and an ERP? And which one does your business actually need?
Harv breaks down how both systems bring your operations together – but are built for completely different worlds.
ERPs power product-based businesses with inventory, supply chains, and manufacturing.
PSAs, like Scoro, are built for service businesses that sell time and expertise.
If you’ve ever been told you “need an ERP” – this one’s worth a listen before you sign anything.
And if you’ve got a question about ops tech, PSAs, or Scoro, drop Harv a message on LinkedIn. He might just turn it into the next Quickie.
Hey all, I am back with another Quickie on tech, and today I've got another sexy acronym for you: ERP. What does that mean? Well, it stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. Clearly, whoever designed these acronyms didn't have budget for a marketing team, but nevermind. Functionally, an ERP is pretty similar to a PSA. Okay. It brings together different parts of your business into one system. But the key difference is who it's for. ERPs are typically built for product-based businesses. Ones with needs for inventory, supply chains, warehouses, manufacturing, that kind of thing. So unless you need those features, a PSA is a better fit for your service business. A business that's selling time and expertise. So, quick recap: project management tools help you manage and collaborate on projects and tasks. ERPs or enterprise resource planning platforms tend to be best suited for product-based companies. And PSA platforms like Scoro are for service businesses that sell time and expertise with end-to-end visibility, automation, and reporting. And of course, project management is a subset of what they do. Let's leave it there for this one. If you've got any questions about ops tech, PSAs or Scoro, drop me a message on LinkedIn. And if you know someone that could benefit from this explainer, please forward it to them and ask them to listen. Thanks for listening to this Quickie.
