You're Already Whole

Change, Neuroplasticity + Grief with guest Jaime Armstrong

Edie Gudaitis Wellness Season 2 Episode 8

What is your response to change?

Do you love it? Do you resist it?

What if you shift your perspective and realize you are an expert at change?

What if you trust that your brain is functioning perfectly and you are exactly where you’re meant to be?

What if you could “stress proof” your brain and change your whole life experience with change?

In this episode Jaime Armstrong is my guest and we explore change, Neuroplasticity + grief. It’s an awesome conversation! You’re gonna love it.

These are the key takeaways:

  • we are pros at change. Change is a constant in life. We are always changing because we are always evolving. Change is natural, and it can be fun and feel GOOD.
  • Our brains are designed to keep us alive - for survival. Nothing is “wrong” if you feel fearful or angry about change - that’s a physiological survival response. Your brain is “doing” its primary job to keep you alive. AND as humans, we have the additional development of the brain to think about the past + future AND to observe our thoughts, tap into intuition, assert willpower to do / not do something, connect with logic and reason (judgement) and imagination
  • Another definition of grief is - the awkward transition of doing something different. It’s about reestablishing connection with the person, place or thing that is no longer present in our life.
  • Your loved one wants you to be ok and good as you remember them. You don’t have to love the change - and - you can still be ok through it.
  • Death is a transition of form. It’s not final. Energy is never created or destroyed. We choose how we reconnect with loved ones (past and present). And as we navigate the awkwardness of the new chapter of our life, we meet ourselves with grace and compassion along the way
