Kimberly/terry (00:57)
We are back. This is Group X Appeal episode number 53. I'm Terry Shorter. I'm Kimberly Spreen Glick. And we are so excited because today, super excited, we are welcoming Juli Rinefort to the Group X Appeal podcast. Juli is a wife. She's a proud mama and a former TV producer whose career took her around the world, all actually across the country. And then through group exercise, she's been able to travel around the world. We're to talk about that today.

And along the way, she discovered her love for fitness, made the bold decision to step fully into this field as a full-time professional. Now, Juli brings her creativity, she brings her energy, she brings just a global perspective also to every class she teaches, spanning multiple modalities and touching countless lives. And her journey today is just a beautiful reminder that no matter where life begins, passion has the power to.

Juli Rinefort (01:35)
Okay.

Kimberly/terry (01:52)
guide us exactly

Juli Rinefort (01:53)
you

Kimberly/terry (01:54)
where we want to be and where we're meant to be. So we're going to be unicorn. She is a unicorn. So being here, Juli. Yes.

Juli Rinefort (01:57)
⁓ that's nice. Wow.

⁓ well, thank you for having me. I'm very excited. Yes.

Kimberly/terry (02:08)
And

I'm happy to say that whenever I am in town and not injured, on Sundays after I'm done teaching every week, I get to practice with Juli. It's one of my favorite classes. I love it. ⁓ And I have to say, in addition to Kimberly inspiring me to take on the yoga practice as an instructor, Juli is one of the other ones who inspired me as well to go through the YTT as well. we're happy to have you.

Juli Rinefort (02:18)
That's right. That's right. I love having you in class.

⁓ thank you. Thank you. ⁓

so glad you did too, Terry. You're huge addition. ⁓ Yes. Yes. ⁓ good. Yay.

Kimberly/terry (02:38)
thank you

Well, we've got some questions for you. So I'd love to be able to chat our way through. And the first one, I would

love for you to just kind of take us back. How did you get started with group exercise and like what made you love it?

Juli Rinefort (03:01)
Well, I think a few things. you know, after, you know, doing my deal, you know, in TV, which was great, I ended up coming back home to California. My mom was ill and I came back home to help at home. And I did work for the business channel here for a while. And then I was always so into fitness. I was very athletic, long distance runner. And I thought, you know, while I'm here, I'm just going to take, you know, a training and get certified. So I did.

And I think it's been the whole combination of being able to be a presenter, which I think is just in me, I like to present, and then being able to communicate fitness to other people. I literally do what I love. If I was in teaching, I'm taking your class too, Kimberly, you know that, you know? So, you know, I'm literally doing exactly what I love to do. And then I think it's that.

Kimberly/terry (03:46)
Mm. Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

Juli Rinefort (04:00)
you know that at the end of the day, what you're bringing in your profession is going to help the other person and the world in general, know, healthier people, better world. So it was kind of like that package, you know, in for me that had all those aspects. And I think that is today what continues to to motivate me, you know, is I love to present. I literally love to exercise. Crazy. Love it. Love it. Love it. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (04:10)
No.

That helps. Right.

Juli Rinefort (04:29)
And then, yes, it's

Kimberly/terry (04:30)
We're all part of the same weird drive.

Juli Rinefort (04:33)
like, you just love it. I think about it, I'm like, yeah, let me get out there. And then I love to help people in my way. I don't have great talents in other areas perhaps, but I've found that God has worked through me in this way. I'm able to help people ⁓ get well through fitness and stay healthy and just have fun.

enjoy life, right? mean, geez. Well, thank you. I hope to keep them fun. But I think that really has been my catapult and, you know, the engine that has moved me and continues to.

Kimberly/terry (04:59)
There you go. The classes are definitely fun. ⁓

And you mentioned, I

think, the reason for why you got into it loved it so much is still the reason you love it today, yeah? Yeah, amazing.

Juli Rinefort (05:22)
Yes, you know,

think, yeah, okay, you know, people all around me, know, friends, know, ⁓ different businesses and whatnot, neighbors, when retiring and how, how? I mean, I love what I do. And I, I, I mean, there's no way it's just so great. ⁓ And I think that's the thing is, you know, I don't, and I don't think everyone gets that opportunity to have a career.

that is not, it's our hobby, it's my love, it's everything. So I feel so blessed because of that. It's not a job. I mean, it is, it totally is. It is, it is exactly. So yeah, it is what has made me. It's funny when you think of what got me into it, yoga specifically, which is a big part of what I do now. ⁓ I was teaching and you guys,

Kimberly/terry (05:54)
Mm.

Yeah. It's a mission. is.

Juli Rinefort (06:20)
probably did this too, teaching like 25 classes a week, you know, and just beating up my body and teach. And then I was a long distance runner. So then I'm running 60 miles because I'm doing marathons. So I was just, you know, I was so injured, so injured. And my sister who lives in San Francisco, this is going back like 30, well over about 30 years, maybe, maybe 25, 30 years. And she said, you know, you should try this yoga thing. I think because you, you know, you're beating yourself up, you need to take care of yourself.

Kimberly/terry (06:23)
yeah.

Wow.

Juli Rinefort (06:48)
I went into the first class, I walked out. I'm like, I can't do this. Sit still, do this. I said, you know, I just can't do this. And it turns out, you know, I walked out and she said, get back in there. That's exactly what you need. And so that's, yeah, that's when I went back in and I'm like, ⁓ okay, that's what it's about. And then it took time, it took patience to keep going back. But then within weeks, I'm like, I'm feeling better. And I'm not feeling as...

Kimberly/terry (06:52)
Hahaha

Amazing.

Juli Rinefort (07:17)
as injured and whatnot as I was. So it worked, you know? And so I think that's kind of very interesting too, because it puts you back in that you're a suit student, always. You know, don't you guys feel that? It's like we're always still a student and we have to have that mind.

Kimberly/terry (07:30)
Yeah. sure. Yes. And I wonder how

many of us as fitness professionals who kind of later in our career found yoga, like we started out with all the high intensity 20, 25 class a week and then found yoga. How many of us are in the same boat as you have experienced what you've experienced? I know for me, yoga basically became the balance I needed, the yin to my yang, literally, to be able to recover faster and be able to...

Juli Rinefort (07:57)
Yeah. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (07:59)
my bandwidth. Yeah. And I think also, think, tell me if this has been for you as well, not just creating that balance in your physicality and all the different modalities, but also ⁓ for me personally, I think that it's also served me well being more mindful and more intentional with everything else that I do in those modalities and even outside the studio as well, just in life as well, being more intentional. It's something I discovered.

Juli Rinefort (08:01)
Yeah. Yeah.

Whoa, yeah. Oh yeah, and the patience.

The patience, right? That it teaches you. And that whole mindset too, that it's not about how many reps or how successful you are. There's such a different mindset on our yoga mat. And I think that serves us so well when we're teaching other classes. Absolutely. I think it's a huge help, definitely.

Kimberly/terry (08:46)
Sure.

Yeah. Awesome.

Juli Rinefort (08:54)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Kimberly/terry (08:55)
Good stuff. And so all in all, Juli, how many years now have you been teaching as a group exercise instructor? ⁓

Juli Rinefort (09:00)
⁓ I knew you would ask this question. I knew you would ask this question. And so

I had to think and I started counting. And do you know, it's been like, what? OK, I say I started teaching about 37 years ago. Wow, I know now I now it hasn't been totally consistent for about six or seven years ⁓ when my kids were really little. I didn't. But I did. I worked at school. did the.

Kimberly/terry (09:14)
Wow, that's fantastic. So cool.

Sure.

Juli Rinefort (09:27)
the president's fitness training and all that. I kind of, you, I had to, you know, you have to kind of do something, but yeah. So I did take time off from actually teaching in studios for, ⁓ you know, six, seven years, but yeah, that's when I started. So, I mean, I've seen it all come through, right? You guys, my God. Yeah. Yeah. Steps in, you know, and yeah, yeah. Yeah. So it's been a real evolution. It's been great. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (09:30)
Okay. Right.

Right.

I'm sure. She's seen the leg warmers and the unitards. Right. Mm-hmm. I love it.

it. Love it. Love it. So let me ask you second question. What's one unforgettable moment you can share from your teaching experience like a goosebump kind of story or maybe a hilarious mishap or just that time a participant perhaps completely change your perspective maybe? I'm sure after 37 years I'm sure you at least have one.

Juli Rinefort (09:59)
Yeah.

Okay. Well, I have a couple. have a few. ⁓ What? Right, right,

right. I know. One was kind of fairly, fairly recent. I had been leading. ⁓ I do travel quite a bit and I teach ⁓ guests in tour groups, right, all over the world. And we were in Japan. And there were the group was like 14 people. And when it was hiking the Komono Kodo trail.

Anyway, I don't always know all the people. I didn't know that this man that came, but he was very interested in yoga. ⁓ He hadn't done much of it every day. You know, I offer the classes and guests come if they want to. It's totally optional. And he came every single class and he could kind of, you know, he was just getting it, but he was so great. He would come every class after the tour. You know, he, we all went our separate ways. I came back, I do my teaching. And I recently,

I just got a message from him on how he's found a class near where he lives. It's like changed his life. He's never felt healthier. He's, you know, going on another big hiking trip somewhere in Ireland or something. don't even know. he, you know, I just literally, you know, it's like, wow, sometimes you throw because we do every day we throw these things out. We don't know. You know, you don't you don't know the ripple. And ⁓ sometimes you hear back.

Kimberly/terry (11:39)
Right, the ripple.

Juli Rinefort (11:43)
And that was really neat. And another kind of hilarious, it's hilarious now, it wasn't hilarious when it happened, is I was teaching, in my early days of teaching, I taught primarily a lot of prenatal and postnatal classes, which was great because then I was starting to have kids and so that was a perfect kind of fit. But my water broke teaching my class with my old...

Kimberly/terry (11:50)
Ha!

⁓ Mom, was teaching!

Juli Rinefort (12:11)
with my son, so I'm in the middle of teaching and it was step.

I would teach like, you know, small step. These ladies were strong, right? And we were doing it and we're walking and doing it. And all of a sudden, yeah, so they took me to the hospital and everything's fine. He's 30 years old now, but yeah.

Kimberly/terry (12:26)
And didn't you say

the members are the ones that took you to the hospital? ⁓ my goodness. Isn't that cool? Yeah, that's love right there. Right? Well, on both ends, you showing up like ready to burst. That's love right there for your people. Shout out for Step if you're trying to get the pregnancy to wrap up.

Juli Rinefort (12:28)
Totally, my students, yes, yes, yes. It is, yeah, it was.

Right, yes.

Yeah, tell me. Yes, yes, absolutely. Let's get this thing going. Yeah, right. Yeah, no, they were great. Yeah, so that was some, so yeah, so there's been, it's always great. This morning I had a great one. One of the ⁓ gals in my ⁓ sculpt class, which is always a really, it's like a crazy party class, like 45 people in the class and ⁓ fun music. Anyway, I had gotten word, I knew her, she's adorable.

Kimberly/terry (12:48)
forget squats. Yeah, you don't need squats. just need a step.

huh.

Juli Rinefort (13:14)
She's getting married this weekend. So we got a crown for her in the middle of the class and started playing, know, put the crown on her head and, you know, she's so thankful and stuff like that. So there's these opportunities that we get to connect, right? Because it's so much more than fitness, you know? Yeah. Right. And they make the connections. I mean, how many friendships are formed, you know, at the gym or the studio?

Kimberly/terry (13:19)

Yeah, for sure. Yeah, you get to be celebrated and get to celebrate others.

Mm-hmm.

Juli Rinefort (13:43)
Lifelong friendships, countless, right?

Kimberly/terry (13:44)
Most definitely. And

people that become your community who obviously have your back. I mean, you're water broke and they're the ones that stepped up to get you to the hospital. ⁓ I thought you did. No pun intended, a beacon of inspiration.

Juli Rinefort (13:51)
Yeah, yeah, right. Yes, yes, yes. Right.

Yes. One of them ended up being a godmother for one of my kids. you ⁓ know, so there's a lot of it's it's really great. Yeah, yeah.

Kimberly/terry (14:04)
Wow, how cool! That's awesome.

And so was it Tom, Tommy was the, yeah. So, and he loves group exercise too. He's been to several of my classes. I'm sure some of yours. Maybe that's why. That's awesome.

Juli Rinefort (14:12)
That was Tommy. Yeah. He does. He's always exercising. He's, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, right. He came out. Yeah.

Well, I ran the Boston Marathon pregnant with my second.

Kimberly/terry (14:28)
my god, you just can't, nothing will stop you.

Juli Rinefort (14:29)
I know,

but I was only, mean, I was under a doctor's care. I mean, I'll make sure, and I'd always been a runner and I had a heart rate monitor and I ⁓ didn't do it for time, but we always joke that, so she tells people that she's run a marathon too. Yeah, right, right, right, right, right. But you know, it's fun. Yeah, it's great.

Kimberly/terry (14:45)
⁓ Just in the womb going with mama. That's awesome. I love it. Well, I

guess in that case, Tyler was kickboxing before he ever got into Taekwondo. Right. Before he got into MMA. Yeah, it's interesting. I thought he loved it because I was like, go do it. ⁓ He eventually loved it. So Juli, how...

Juli Rinefort (14:58)
Right. Don't you wonder why he loves it? Yeah, there you go. I know. I know.

Yes.

Kimberly/terry (15:12)
do you stay inspired to continue to teach with the passion and intention that, you know, we've both experienced your class, we get to experience the kind of passion and intention you show up with when you teach? How do you stay inspired to continue with?

Juli Rinefort (15:27)
I take classes. I take other people's classes. That's one thing I think that is important is, you know, I, I notice when I get in a, you know, we all get in funk sometimes. ⁓ It's usually when I'm not taking other people's classes. So I try to, even if, even if I can't, you know, do the, if I've been taught a bunch of classes that day, even if I just go and do what I can, you know, and kind of take it easy or whatever, but taking other people's classes, I think.

Kimberly/terry (15:30)
Mmm. Yeah.

Hmm.

Yeah.

Juli Rinefort (15:56)
I love all the online, I'm looking at videos of other people teaching all the time. Terry, I just took your flow last week that you did in one of your yoga classes and I pieced it apart and I'm using that. So I mean, we share. Well, I watched the video and I watched the video at 11 in the morning. No, but stuff like that where you're always kind of trying to learn and educate yourself.

Kimberly/terry (16:07)
⁓ awesome. Did you do the like 4 a.m. It's not 4 a.m. It may as well be.

Juli Rinefort (16:25)
You know, I'm kind of taking partly a Tai Chi class right now online. So, ⁓ yeah, so, you know, trying different formats. I think that keeps me inspired. And then also, just every time you get in there, I can be in a like really, really crummy mode, right? And then you get up in front, I know where I'd rather be. Right? And no other format that I'd rather teach.

Kimberly/terry (16:31)
good. Cool.

Right.

Juli Rinefort (16:55)
Because I get that question a lot, which format do you like teaching the best? Whatever I'm doing right then. Isn't that interesting? Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ So yeah. So I think that's kind of how and yeah.

Kimberly/terry (17:00)
Exactly.

One of the things that you shared with me before I did my first Camino earlier this year in May. And explain to the listener what a Camino is. A Camino is a pilgrimage. could definitely explain it better than me, but it is a walking pilgrimage. my niece and I did the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. And so we did the Inglés. And Juli's done a number of the different Caminos. She was my pre-Camino Sherpa. she's the one that guided me through the process.

Juli Rinefort (17:31)
Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (17:37)
literally shared with me her packing list and what to do and what to

Juli Rinefort (17:37)
So do it, do it, do it, do it. Yeah, yeah.

Kimberly/terry (17:41)
expect and everything. And I remember one time asking you before I went on that Camino, said, you know, I'm going to be away from teaching for like 10 days. And you're like, it always makes you better. She's like, when I, you had said that when you take any of these international trips, whether it's with the culinary travel, the group travel or a Camino that you do, you know, with Scott or on your own, that when you come back, it makes you a better teacher.

Juli Rinefort (17:59)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (18:06)
And I carried that with me and sure enough, when I got back from Spain, I could feel that. I could feel that I had more to give. That's really cool.

Juli Rinefort (18:07)
Totally.

Yeah, yeah,

I think part of it is just the stepping away. I everything, you know, I mean, we all need space and perspective. And then also specifically to a pilgrimage, it's very transforming, you know, personally, and you're meeting people from all over the country and you're living very simply. mean, the whole idea is to, you know, it's a simple life and you're walking, you know, a path to a holy place, basically. I mean, that's what it is. ⁓

Kimberly/terry (18:22)
perspective.

Juli Rinefort (18:43)
And I think that simplicity of it, how do you get rid of, no one cares what you're wearing or if you have makeup on or if you wore the same thing yesterday, you got your backpack and that's it. And I think then you connect with other people. And even if you don't necessarily bring back a specific story about them, they've changed you in some way, right? And then that comes out in our teaching, I think. I really do. think so. do think that travel in general makes us better at what we do.

Kimberly/terry (18:51)
No judgment.

Yep, definitely.

Juli Rinefort (19:12)
You know, we meet people from all over and get that their perspective and learn how they live and also learn that we have so much more in common. Right? Yeah, which is like our students too. Sometimes we think, OK, I'm the teacher. They're the students. You know, we're just kind of all in this together, quite frankly, and you know they're going to, you know, take my invitations or not, and that's fine. So yeah.

Kimberly/terry (19:20)
Yeah, that's huge. human experience.

No.

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Good. so while we're on that ⁓ topic of the Camino, because I have never done it before, I've been highly impressed by the fact that you chose to do it, that Juli has done it several times. And so let me ask you, how many Caminos have you done and have you added up the miles that you've walked in total on all the Caminos? We need to know this. Yeah, he probably has it on a spreadsheet. ⁓

Juli Rinefort (19:44)
Not yet.

God, that is so good. My husband probably has, probably knows. Yeah,

he's so amazing. I think seven, I've done at least seven of them. We've walked all the way up through Portugal from Lisbon, all the way up into Spain and the whole.

Kimberly/terry (20:06)
seven different Caminos, okay?

And if you're listening,

she said watch he didn't say drive, ride a bike, roller skate. You're walking every step with a backpack on it.

Juli Rinefort (20:17)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. that was, yeah.

So, you know, that was like 500 miles by the time we got to the coast. And yeah, I mean, but, and that's, that's one, they're, they're anywhere from, you can walk anywhere from, you know, a few miles a day to a lot. We tend to walk about 12 to 15 miles a day. And then we stay at night in, you know, really cool little.

Kimberly/terry (20:28)
And that's one.

Hmm, sure.

Mm-hmm.

Juli Rinefort (20:45)
places or in dorms with other pilgrims. It's a really, it's a great way to travel. It's my favorite. I'm leaving in two weeks. walking. ⁓ It's called the Way of St. Francis up in Italy. So it should be really cool through Sissy. yeah, we've walked a lot of them. We've even done them in California, up the coast of California. We've walked all the way up from like Santa Barbara, yeah, Santa Barbara up through the missions in

Kimberly/terry (20:59)
Mmm.

Missions, Yeah, I remember.

Juli Rinefort (21:14)
up to San Francisco and then to Sonoma. So, well, it's the original way of getting from one place to the other.

Kimberly/terry (21:17)
Love it. So cool. So

absolutely. And so she's being really humble. She hasn't given us the total number, but I suspect it's somewhere around 20,000 miles. She has no clue.

Juli Rinefort (21:27)
⁓ god. I don't know.

Yeah, I honestly don't know. Maybe like 4,000, 3,000. Yeah, I'm sure that does. I don't think, I mean, yeah, thousands of miles, thousands. Yeah, at this point. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (21:36)
I don't think your calculator has that many places on it.

Right. Well, I

know that that was definitely not easy, but also being an instructor isn't always easy either. let me ask you, what's been your biggest challenge as an instructor and how did you perhaps overcome it, Juli?

Juli Rinefort (21:51)
No.

Hmm.

I think sometimes balancing, it's not as hard now, my kids are older, but balancing home life as a mom and getting the groceries and stuff when they were little. And my husband was, now he works mostly from the house, but in those days, pre-COVID, everybody went to the office. And that was sometimes a bit of a juggle. sometimes you get little frustrated and you had to make things work.

And injuries are tough. mean, we all get, you know, overuse injuries. It's just really hard, you know, mentally, I think, when that happens to, to stay positive. I mean, it's, it's a big thing for me. Yeah. And so those, those are a couple of things that kind of get, get a little bit difficult sometimes, or when, you know, something comes up and you're like, no, I have got to teach, but it's, that's just the way it goes.

Kimberly/terry (23:02)
Yeah. And so, and so with all those different, just the variety of different challenges that you've experienced, what has been your mindset to kind of help you get past it, break through it, just kind of overcome.

Juli Rinefort (23:02)
But yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

I visualize, and I always use that technique of visualization when I was a competitive runner. I think that was huge for me and my training. And I just visualize what is it going to feel like when I'm there teaching? It's going be great. It's going be awesome. I know it be. So that always gets me there. I just go into that mindset, oh, yeah, I'm fine. And then I try to put things in perspective, Honestly, I mean, we...

Kimberly/terry (23:28)
Yeah. Yeah.

Juli Rinefort (23:45)
have literally the best job ever.

Kimberly/terry (23:49)
Yeah, we do. It's true.

Juli Rinefort (23:51)
And people would love to do what we do. I mean, you hear that all the time. want your... Yes. Right. Yeah. Yeah. But so often, you I wish I... So, you know, then that helps you motivate you too. You're like, I'm so lucky, you know, and then I get to do this. So I think that gets me, gets my button gear and I get out the door.

Kimberly/terry (23:54)
And yet most people are scared to death to do what we do. Yeah. Because you're a public speaker. is the number one fear on the planet.

Yeah.

All right. Good.

So those two things you would basically encapsulate it as visualization and gratitude. Mm-hmm. The whole I get to, I have to. That's awesome.

Juli Rinefort (24:21)
Right.

Absolutely. Yeah.

Yes,

exactly, Kimberly. Yeah, that's so well put. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (24:35)
So Juli, if you were to

fast forward 20 plus years, let's talk legacy. ⁓ What kind of impact do you hope that your group X teaching career leaves behind? Like, what do you hope your participants will say about you and the experiences that they've had with you?

Juli Rinefort (24:43)
that is-

It was fun.

I mean, yeah, I mean that they enjoyed it, honestly, you I always say, you you could beat yourself up doing any, a lot of different types of exercises, but you know, let it be fun. I think if you can connect to the feeling you get feeling good, then that'll bring you back. I mean, we could, we could read about how good it is to exercise or hear from your doctor or your neighbor could tell you and.

You know, your partner could say, should get to the gym. But until you actually get in there and feel it, feel the endorphins, you feel it, you'll never be have that connection. It's like you can hear about riding a bike, but unless you get on the bike and do it, you know. ⁓ So I think just that it was fun and that they enjoyed my classes, you know, ⁓ and that we that I maybe made some kind of a connections which made their day better. Maybe one day, maybe more. don't know.

Kimberly/terry (25:47)
Mm-hmm.

There you go.

Mmm.

Juli Rinefort (25:58)
Yeah. It's the way I, it's like I was saying, you know, I don't, I'm not a good cook, so I'm not going to bring cookies to people. I'm not, you know, I don't have other talents that, you know, people can do. ⁓ But I, this is one thing I feel like I can do. And so I'm like, okay, that, you know, this is, this is what I'm supposed to do. And so if it can help others. Yeah, definitely.

Kimberly/terry (25:58)
Sure. Nice. Love it.

you

Yeah. Mm-hmm. Well, I can vouch for that. It's what you're supposed to do.

Definitely. And it is fun. Show is has. Yeah. And it's obvious that, you as a participant taking your class, you're having fun while you're teaching. Mm-hmm. That's everything. that translates. That creates, like, a circle of energy, I think. Synergy, It's huge.

Juli Rinefort (26:28)
Yeah. Thank you. It was fun.

⁓ good. good. Good. Yeah.

good. ⁓ I like that. Thank you. ⁓

Kimberly/terry (26:48)
Speaking of fun, do you have like a go-to song that like gets you pumped up right now?

Juli Rinefort (26:53)
I love that question and I've been thinking about it and yes, I do. Have you heard bloodline with jelly roll? ⁓ it's so good. I know who doesn't. It's so positive. It's perfect for sculpt. It's a sculpt or a cycle vibe ⁓ or a flow. It could be really good in flow, kind of flowing through yoga.

Kimberly/terry (26:56)
Hahaha.

No. I love me some jelly roll. Bloodline. So what kind of vibe is it?

Okay. Okay. All right. Some gritty. Jelly Roll's pretty gritty. Yeah.

Huh. All right.

OK.

Juli Rinefort (27:22)
It's, him, he's kind of beats hard, but it's so good. It just talks so much about how, you know, we're not defined by labels or by history or by, you know, family what happened, you know, when I was a kid. You're you. And if you have tomorrow, then that's it. You have that. And it's just so positive and about looking ahead instead of looking behind and ⁓ not feeling alone.

in your path. So it's very inspirational and it's got a great beat and ⁓ that's my lately. That's the one I'm loving. And then I love Country Roads. That new country, not new Country Roads, but Olivia Newton-John's Country Roads. That's been played a lot lately. That's just fun. That's just fun. It's a really good kind of a remix.

Kimberly/terry (27:52)
Mmm. Mmm.

I'm definitely checking it out.

Okay.

Yeah. She is,

she's still around doing it. She's an icon. Yeah.

Juli Rinefort (28:16)
She is, she is so

great, so great. So yeah, those are a couple. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Kimberly/terry (28:21)
gonna have to take a listen

to both of those bloodline. Checking it out. Yeah, Country Road. Alright, well we're definitely gonna pull those up and take a listen and ⁓ add some fun to our playlist now. There we go. Because we had no fun. No fun. Zero fun. We don't do fun. We're gonna put on the fun. Hit the fun button. That was fun.

Juli Rinefort (28:24)
It's really good. Yeah. You'll like it. You'll like it. Yeah. Yeah.

Good.

⁓ yeah, right. You guys are very fun. I know.

Kimberly/terry (28:49)
Well, that was easy but I'm not too. ⁓ easy and fun. Got it.

Juli Rinefort (28:50)
I know.

Whenever you

guys help me out, whenever I'm gone, whenever I come back, it's like, they were fun. Terry's so fun, Kimberly's fun. In fact, Terry's so fun. Except for last time when I was gone, Terry. Yeah, so, so fun. When I was gone on my last trip and I come back and Terry was saying, yeah, my sister, my sister's coming back. My sister, so a couple of members came back, he is he really your brother?

Kimberly/terry (28:58)
Yay! Wait, wait, Terry's so fun. So fun. So we need to throw some O's on there. So fun.

Juli Rinefort (29:23)
Yeah, I like it now. ⁓ my God. He's my fitness bro.

Kimberly/terry (29:23)
People ask me that all the time.

Yes, and you said, absolutely. What are you talking about? How could you? Yeah, why would you even

ask? Right? I mean, obviously we're all sisters and brother.

Juli Rinefort (29:34)
Well, at first, at first I

was thinking, I'm going, my brother teaches here. Who would that be? I'm going, ⁓ no, it's Terry. Yeah. Right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right. So funny. Yeah, I know.

Kimberly/terry (29:39)
I

Yeah, when someone asked me, was just like, there's no way on earth my brothers teach here. So they must be talking about Terry. That's awesome. I love it. Well, remember

even taking, well, first of all, I took his yoga at 5.45 in the morning, which is like last night, obviously. She got a prize for that too, by the it was still so much fun. then I even jumped into, Tyler and I jumped into one of your roll and recover classes one time.

Juli Rinefort (30:00)
my gosh.

Kimberly/terry (30:10)
And we're laughing the entire time. It was so enjoyable that, yeah, I'm not surprised that they said Terry was so fun. Cause that's exactly what I think of, yeah. That's just what we do. I like he never makes me laugh outside of that, but.

Juli Rinefort (30:12)
Right.

So fun. Yeah. Well, I have to say, well, I'm sure.

Well, whenever I feel and I'm in a bad mood, I'm like, Terry wouldn't be in a bad mood. Terry would be laughing. I've even said that to Scott before. I've said, know, Terry would be in a good mood right now. He'd be laughing.

Kimberly/terry (30:30)
Let's get our bracelets. would you? WTD.

That's so funny. Well, I'm glad you think so. I do. We all have the hard days, but yeah, it's good to be able to gain perspective through what we think other people would handle situations. And one of the things I have to give you a shout out for, Juli, as well, is you brought up the fun factor and such. And you're incredibly inspiring when you teach, which I mentioned. The intention you put there is really obvious.

Juli Rinefort (30:46)
Yeah.

Yes, we do.

Yeah, very much so.

Thanks.

Kimberly/terry (31:13)
But

you also make the experience feel really light. In a world where people are coming together and a lot of times they're feeling really intimidated and overwhelmed for sure. You create a lightness in the room that I think allows people to show up for themselves. I know for me, it allows me to show up for myself in whatever way I need to because I know I'm supported. So that's really something special.

Juli Rinefort (31:24)
Yeah. So good.

Yeah.

Yeah, I think we

have to remember to, especially I think in the format of yoga, that so many people are so intimidated. It's new to them or they've heard, it's so serious and this and that. And it can be whatever they want it to be, right? But to kind of calm, to just send a calming message to them and don't take it too relaxed, it's fine.

Kimberly/terry (31:46)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

Right.

Juli Rinefort (32:03)
But yeah,

and just to lighten things up a little bit as much as possible. think that's important. And you can do that with music, right? I mean, I think that comes into our playlists and it comes into our themes. And even if it's a really heavy theme, you then kind of cycle back and, okay, how do I present this heavy theme in a, how do I say, ⁓ a nurturing way so that they'll still be vulnerable without being

Kimberly/terry (32:10)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

Juli Rinefort (32:33)
putting up a wall, you know, because if it's too heavy, they're not too much for me. Yeah. So, you got to think about that, those things. Yeah.

Kimberly/terry (32:35)
Mm-hmm.

Shut down. Yeah. Yeah. It's beautiful.

Love it. Love it. Well, Juli, thank you so, so much for bringing your energy, bringing your experience, bringing your wisdom, bringing your fun to the Group X Appeal podcast. Where can people find you? Where can they follow you on social media?

Juli Rinefort (32:51)
Well, thank you.

So much fun.

Well, it's just at Juli Rinefort and it's J-U-L-I-R-I-N-E-F-O-R-T. And that's on Instagram. That's pretty much it. Yeah. And then they message me and I can give them information on retreats and travel and hiking and lots of things. And we do so much, especially now. My husband like all the time is helping people get ready to do the Camino. So if they're interested in something like that, he's...

Kimberly/terry (33:19)
stay.

Ask for the spreadsheet, trust me.

Juli Rinefort (33:32)
He's got spreadsheets. We've got it all. But yeah, yeah, I would love to. Seriously, I would love to help anybody ⁓ if they're interested.

Kimberly/terry (33:35)
helpful.

Love it. Yeah, and

don't forget if you happen to be in Orange County, anywhere near Laguna Niguel, Juli does teach regularly at The Lifetime in Laguna Niguel.

Juli Rinefort (33:47)
Lifetime. I

do. Headed there in a little bit. Yeah, so I'm usually between 10 and 12 or 13 classes a week at Lifetime in Laguna Gal and love to see people if they want to come in and try the club. Let them, again, hit me up on Instagram and I'll be happy to meet them and give them a guest pass. Yay. Yes.
