Hometown ADvantage - Local Marketing
Ep 28: Why Visibility Should Be Your Main Focus in 2026 as a Local Business
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If your local business isn’t growing the way you want it to, there’s a good chance this is the real problem:
Not enough people know you exist.
In this episode, I’m breaking down 3 reasons visibility should be your #1 focus as a local business owner in 2026 — and why most businesses struggle with leads and sales because they try to skip this step entirely.
I share:
- Why visibility is the real growth bottleneck for local businesses
- How consistent visibility creates momentum (and why momentum changes everything)
- Why ads don’t create demand — they convert demand that already exists
- Real client stories showing what happens when businesses go from “invisible” to visible
- Why organic-only strategies are getting harder — and more exhausting
- How Facebook & Instagram ads create sustainable, compounding visibility without working more
If you’ve ever thought:
- “My service is great, but growth feels slow”
- “I don’t want to post all the time”
- “Ads feel complicated or intimidating”
- “I know people need what I offer, but they’re not finding me”
This episode will flip a switch for you.
Visibility isn’t about being louder.
It’s about being seen by the right people, consistently.
And once that happens?
Leads, referrals, reviews, and sales start stacking instead of resetting.

Visibility comes first.
Everything else gets easier after that.
Hello. Hello, hometowns today. I'm so excited. We're gonna be talking about three reasons why visibility should be your main focus as a local business owner in 2026. I recently saw a post from Alex Hermo. If you don't know who Alex Ramoz is, one that's crazy. Two, he is an OG bro. Marketer, if you will. Entrepreneur, author, all of the things. The first book I read from him was a hundred Million Dollar Offers. He has other books that are really popular in the business space. He has millions of followers, YouTube subscribers, all of the things. And I saw a post from him where he had a room full of entrepreneurs. I know he hosts these workshops that obviously are for entrepreneurs looking to scale. And they're, I'm guessing, quite expensive. So big time entrepreneurs who have likely been in the game, and he asked them, Hey, how many of you, I don't know how many people are in the crowd, but how many of you just heard of me for the first time in the past six months? And tons of hands went into the air. He said, this is how I know. That nobody knows you exist because I have been doing this for years. He's had millions of followers. He puts out a ridiculous amount of content a month, like hundreds and hundreds of pieces of content a month. He's one of the most well known entrepreneurs in the entrepreneurial space, and still there are so many people that haven't heard of him. Maybe you haven't. Okay, so that's what this episode's gonna be all about. I'm not gonna beat around it. Your business will grow massively the moment more people know you exist. We're gonna talk about three reasons why visibility should be your focus in 2026 if you want to scale your local business. We're gonna jump right in. Reason number one, the more people that know you exist, the more people that can buy from you. This one feels obvious, but it's so important. This is the absolute biggest thing, stopping local businesses from scaling. You only have a certain amount of people that can buy from you in the first place, and then most of those people don't know you exist. It's just math. The more people that know you exist, the more people there are in this world that can buy from you. Facebook ads are the fastest and honestly, even most affordable way you can make that happen. That's because of the targeting and the amount it costs you to get in front of a group of people, plus the ability to change up your message in your marketing based on results and instant numbers. It also comes down to the fact that is just where people are spending most of their time. You gotta go where the people are, right? So I always think about it in terms of other local marketing strategies. You can put a big sign up in front of your business that's gonna capture the people who drive by every day. You can't change it every day. You don't get data from it. And it's gonna be slow moving. Same with a billboard, same concept. One of my clients, Jen, owns a car detailing shop actually in my hometown. She had been running ads before, but she talked about how she would always just randomly go through the builder, select random things and hope for the best. The location of her car detailing shop. It's downtown, but it's a little bit past where all the hustle and bustle is, and it's this big location on a corner, a big sign. Still, most of the people in the town don't know that her business exists, and even though she had run ads for it before when she came through my program, and she used the right targeting settings, the right ad manager settings, the right type of content, tested different types of content. She started out spending$2 a day on her ads and saw an instant uptick in phone calls and bookings. I have two types of clients. The ones who have run ads before, and they want better results are ones who have never run ads before and they want to learn. And I am obsessed with both of them. I love the people who've run ads before and they want better results because they come in with a very small baseline of knowledge usually. This counts for the marketers that come into my program too, love it.'cause they have that baseline knowledge of creating content. Or maybe they've clicked through Ads Manager before. They just need my expert direction to get them over the hill and get conversions to keep coming in. Love that. But I also love the people who've never run them before because the new found visibility. Is insane if you go from no ads to ads that are getting you in front of thousands of people a month. Just that visibility alone can do so much for you if you have your ads set up right. Now. Here's the thing with Jen. She will turn her ads on and off as she has time for it. This leads me to reason number two. Visibility creates momentum. Here's the most important point I wanna make of this whole episode. Consistency creates momentum, and momentum creates sales, visibility and consistency with that visibility is a goldwin for your local business. This reminds me of my client, Robert. He owns a group fitness gym in Arizona. When he joined my program, he had been paying an agency$1,500 a month. I tell this story all the time, and they had a minimum ad spend of$1,500 a month required as well. So he was one of those people who came in already getting the quote unquote visibility, but he wasn't seeing conversions from it. That's because the type of ads that the agency was running weren't set up for affordable visibility that can then turn into leads. Changed up his strategy, he changed up his content and his. Big message to me was that in January and February of 2025, his gym felt slower than ever, which was scary because those are supposed to be the busiest times for gyms. He joined my program at the end of March and he was talking about how March and April, especially April. Things started to feel like they were coming alive. He had so much buzz around the gym, so many more leads coming in. Old members who had left coming back. So many people reaching out, asking questions, all things that weren't happening in January and. That's because he already had a start with the ads he was running, but when we just made a few tweaks, he really started to gain momentum, and that momentum changes everything. Now. He runs ads all the time, different types of ads. Ad spend goes up and down depending on what he's promoting or what they've got going on. But he's able to ride the wave of the momentum and that constant visibility to new people and old, which month over month compounds. That takes me to reason number three, which is my favorite visibility converts demand that already exists. I am gonna say that again. Visibility, converts demand that already exists. There are so many people in your town who need what you offer today. They either haven't had time to look into it or book it. They're maybe using Google and just going with the top couple of results that are showing up for them there. Or they're asking friends or family for references. What if you can magically show up on someone's feed, who needs exactly what you have to offer when they need it? So my husband and I, a big goal of 2026 is to finish our basement. We recently got one of those mailers that has like a bunch of local business ads and promotions in it, and I was just flipping through it outta curiosity. Also just studying the advertising techniques and I saw an ad from a basement refinishing company. With a promotion on it. So I decided to go to their website, check out some of their pictures, results, offers all of the things. The next time that I logged onto social media, minutes later, I had basement refinishing ads from other basement refinishing companies local to me. I also had some from that company, but that wasn't the first one I saw. The way this works is through something called the Facebook Pixel. The Facebook Pixel is a piece of data that you have to install on your website, and I know that sounds. Scary and complicated, but it's not. Trust me, it's not. It's something you set up one time and it's done forever, and it helps your ad performance forever as well. The Facebook pixel is the reason that Facebook ad targeting works the way it does and works so well. What's happening is when someone lands on your site. It can gather data on that person and send it back to your ads manager to say, this person landed on your site. So if you want to advertise to people who are already interested in you, you can advertise to people who've visited your website. Also, it can tell ads manager, Hey, this is the type of person. That is visiting your site. It's a 30 something year old woman who lives in this town who does these things online. So maybe target more of those people, target more people in her neighborhood, target more people who are visiting the similar sites. On top of that Facebook pixels are installed on so many people's sites. Facebook can gather data across all of them and share that information across accounts to help nail down your targeting. Okay, so that got into the technical weeds a little bit on how Facebook's able to target people who are looking for what you have to offer. And obviously it only works if you have a pixel set up on your site that is something we walk you through. Exactly how to do inside the program. I even do it for some people, but this idea that visibility, converts demand that already exists reminds me of my client. Maritza is a therapist for children with autism, a behavioral therapist. She goes to their schools, she goes to their houses, she does activities with them to help them. Learn the skills they need to learn, grow, all of the things. Maritza was really focusing on organic marketing when she first started. Her content was really good. She would post a Facebook and Instagram, but things just felt slow. She was ready to grow and she wasn't getting consist leads from her organic marketing. A lot of her leads would come from referrals. Obviously she was nervous to spend money on ads and not see a return, but she decided to take a risk, make the investment, jumped into the program, got started. And now she books an average of three calls a week from her ads consistently, because the thing is, there are so many families and people out there who need exactly what Maritza has to offer them, but they did not even know that one she existed or two in a service like this existed. So she does both of that in her advertising, explaining what her service is and what it's like, and then advertising herself and why she is the best person to support that family. Now, not only is she getting so many new clients from her ads, she gets so many new referrals from people who see her ad and then know somebody that could use her services and the new people that she's bringing in through ads. They all have a community as well that they're going back and sharing her too. That visibility was the missing link for her. And I love what she shared in our hometown Advantage Slack channel. She said I wanted to share. I've been getting an average of three weekly calls. I started running ads a month ago. I didn't expect to see results so fast, not complaining. She also talked about how a lot of the people reaching out are willing to pay her out of pocket directly instead of dealing with insurance, which is perfect for her. And she signed up three clients directly from ads, even though she started running ads a month ago. And she has four people in the pipeline at this time, straight from ads also signed up, two new clients from word of mouth. Things just started taking off for her because there was a demand of people who needed her, but they just didn't know she existed. So if you are thinking, okay, this girl's onto something, I need to be more visible in 2026. I need more people in my community to know I exist, but. I don't have time. I don't have time to create the content. I don't have time to learn a new skill. Oh my gosh. I had somebody comment on an Instagram post where I was trying to give her advice and say, Hey, it sounds like you're boosting posts, but you need to go into Ads Manager on your computer. To run ads effectively, and she was like, gee, I have to get on my computer every time. Yes, you do have to do this from your computer. I wanna tell you something, you don't have to work any harder. You don't have to spend six hours a week, even five or four hours a week, four ads to work for you. You need to learn how to create and set up ads quickly, effectively, and efficiently so that you can set those ads up and let ads do their thing. Let them make you visible af. The thing I really want you to take away from all of this is that you don't need a better offer. You don't need to lower your prices or raise your prices. You don't need to be good at social media, quote unquote. You don't need to work harder or show up more. You need more visibility, and Facebook ads are the absolute best way to do that as a local business. When more people know you exist, more people can buy from you. You gain momentum day after day and you convert the demand that is already there. Visibility is the root cause, or should I say lack of visibility is the root cause. Of why people don't know you exist and that you're not making as many sales as you want. When you get more visible, more people know you exist. More people can refer you to others. More people can do business with you. More people can write your Google reviews, your reputation compounds instead of resetting. I teach a three part framework inside my program. That starts with visibility. Then we turn that visibility into leads and we turn those leads into sales. Most local businesses try to skip the visibility step and wonder why leads and sales aren't coming. Okay, so for 2026, I just want you to know organic reach is gonna continue to be harder and harder. You're gonna have to spend more and more time feeding an algorithm to get visible for free, quote unquote. It's not free. Newsflash, it takes a lot of time and mental energy that ads do not. Your competition is going to continue to increase. And here's the thing, there's a lot of local business owners out there who aren't willing to put in the time or who aren't willing to expand their skillset when it comes to advertising and marketing. And if you are the person that says, I can do this, I can create the time because I want to create the business that I started my business for. You. We'll have such an edge on your competition. You will come out on top because you will be the most visible. I'm sure most of us have heard the saying, but I'm gonna say it in case you haven't. Ultimately, it doesn't come down to being the best at what you do. It doesn't matter if you're the best chiropractor, the best vet, the best photographer. The best kids indoor play place, the best hairstylist, any of that, it comes down to who is the best marketer. It's an unfortunate truth for some of us. The businesses that win in 2026 are gonna be the ones that consistently show up in front of the right people. In the right way, and the best way to do that is using Facebook and Instagram ads. This is exactly why I built Hometown Advantage, my four month local ads coaching program. It's not to encourage you to post more or even spend more. It's to show local business owners how they can build simple, sustainable visibility systems that actually convert into real clients, and they don't have to spend thousands on agency fees or have these complicated tech stacks, or again, post all the time. Just a clear three step framework, right? Visibility leads, sales you can use over and over again as your business grows. If you're listening to this in real time or you're listening to it before January 19th, I have a big promotion happening of Hometown Advantage right now, and if you're listening to this after that, you can still join. Okay? Here's what you get inside the program. Lifetime access to the local ads course and any updates that I make to it.
