#56: From Knowing to Living: How to Actually Integrate Your Decision-Making Style
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Have you ever heard a voice so loud in your head that it stopped you in your tracks?
Or have you ignored subtle signals from your body… until they became impossible to ignore?
This episode is for you.
Today I'm sharing my personal story of going from 15 years in corporate to building my own business, and the pivotal moments when I realized I wasn't living in alignment. From the voice in the hallway that said "Is this all there is?" to the day I woke up grinding my teeth from stress, I walk through what it actually looks like to undo other people's expectations and get back to YOUR operating manual.
If you're a leader going through a transition, feeling the rub between who you are and what you're doing, or wondering why you feel burnt out even though you're "doing everything right" then this episode is for you.
Key Takeaways:
1. Your body will tell you when you're out of alignment
The first signals are quiet (a voice, a feeling, a sense something's off). Then they get louder. Then your body makes sure you hear them—stress, burnout, physical symptoms. When I felt like my teeth were falling out, my body was screaming: this isn't in alignment.
2. We all have our own operating manual—but we've absorbed everyone else's
We came here with our own blueprint for how we want to work and live. But over time we absorbed our parents' expectations, our teachers' beliefs, corporate culture, societal standards. Until one day you realize your manual is a patchwork of other people's ideas about who you should be.
3. Living in alignment is about undoing the conditioning
It's not about blowing up your life or leaving your job. It's about checking in: where am I in alignment? Where am I not? What's actually mine vs. what I absorbed from others? This process can feel disorienting and scary—but it's about honoring who you are.
4. This shows up differently for everyone
Business owners building based on what they think will work instead of what feels aligned. Leaders taking on their team's emotions instead of checking "is this mine?" Offering done-for-you when you're meant to hold space. Getting lost in what you think you should do instead of what really feels aligned for you.
5. The "midlife crisis" is just waking up to misalignment
I personally believe that what we call a midlife crisis is really just people recognizing they're not in alignment and searching for more meaning or purpose. It's that disconnect within them. And then they say, well, now it's time.
