Dr. Guilkey’s Bio


Beginning my career as a civil engineer, I quickly charted a new course into the world of aviation. During my aviation education at The Ohio State University, I received a B.S. in aviation, alongside commercial pilot and flight instructor ratings. Realizing that my true passion was in learning and education, I returned to OSU to receive my M.A. and Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology, leading me to assume the role of Associate Director of Flight Education at the university. Transitioning from academia, I founded S4 NetQuest, a premier learning and design firm, where I have proudly served as President and COO for over 25 years.


During my time at Ohio State, I developed an instructional design methodology called M-PACT Learning which puts learners at the center of the approach. This methodology, outlined in my published book "M-PACT Learning: The New Competitive Advantage", sets us apart by fostering deep learning, application and correlation, contrasting starkly with traditional rote memorization-based training. We've had the privilege of partnering with many leading Fortune 100 organizations over the years across various industries.


In addition to my work at S4 NetQuest, I serve on the Advisory Board at the Corporate Learning Network (CLN) and have been a speaker at numerous national training conferences for organizations such as CLN, Corporate Learning & Development Institute (CLDI), Training Magazine, LTEN, ASTD along with many others.
