Daily Happy Episode 43: Listening

Suzanna

The Daily Happy podcast is all about something we could all use a little more of — listening. Yep, that ancient skill that seems to be on the endangered list right next to handwritten thank-you notes and phone calls that don’t start with “Can you hear me now?”

In our fast-talking, Slack-pinging, Zoom-juggling world, listening might just be the ultimate leadership superpower. It builds trust, creates connection, and keeps you from accidentally agreeing to things like “Sure, I’ll run that 5K.”

I share why listening makes me happy — it helps us catch the small details that bring us closer to people (and occasionally helps us avoid big misunderstandings). We’ll talk about active listening, mirroring, and even listening to yourself — because sometimes the person who needs your attention most is the one in your own head.

So take a pause, put down the phone (after reading this, of course), and tune in to the latest episode of The Daily Happy Podcast. Because as the Dalai Lama said: “When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new.”

Have a bright and happy day, and remember — sometimes the smartest thing you can say… is nothing at all.
