Daily Happy Episode 51: Tactile Comfort

Suzanna

Today’s Productivity Hack: Touch Things. Seriously.

Yes, you read that right. Science says soft tactile experiences make us happier, calmer, and more focused. And no, I’m not talking about your keyboard (though a mechanical one does feel nice).

Here’s what works:

  • Weighted blankets – like a personal hug that doesn’t judge your life choices.
  • Fuzzy socks – because apparently your feet deserve a promotion to VP of Comfort.
  • Soft pillows and blankets – cuddle responsibly.
  • Bubble wrap – pop responsibly.

Research backs this up: stroking soft textures lowers cortisol, deep-pressure stimulation reduces anxiety, and playful tactile experiences increase dopamine. Basically, your brain wants to be hugged. By your blanket.

So today, if you’re stressed about emails, meetings, or quarterly reports, maybe the answer isn’t another coffee… maybe it’s a blanket burrito and a fuzzy sock combo.

And yes, you can quote me in your next team meeting: “I’m not slacking off — I’m doing advanced neuroscience.”
