Work With Me: Nourished Living

Welcome to the nourished living podcast, where I will be diving deep into nutrition, holistic wellness, and practical tips to help you live your healthiest, most vibrant life. I'm Courtney Podany, a nutritional therapist, certified personal trainer. Type 1 diabetic and mom. And I'm here to help you take charge of your health with ease and confidence. Together, we'll explore how to nourish your body, mind, and soul in a way that feels good and sustainable. So, grab your favorite beverage, take a deep breath, and let's get into the episode. Hello, and welcome to the Nourished Living Podcast. I am your host, Courtney Podany, and I am so excited to be here with you right now. I've actually thought about starting a podcast for a few years now. And I don't know what was holding me back. So I finally was just like, why not? We are doing it. So thanks for joining me. I am a nutritional therapy practitioner and a certified personal trainer. And my goal is really to heal people through foods and nature and holistic living. So all things natural. And so today we're going to talk about my origin story, what got me here and what you can expect from this podcast, except I don't even really know what to expect because we're just on episode one, but anyway, these are my thoughts. So anyway we're going to go back to 2018. So I was working as a personal trainer. I was not yet a nutritional therapy practitioner, and I was diagnosed with type one diabetes and I was completely blindsided. They call the, Type one juvenile diabetes. And at this point in my life, I was in my late twenties. So I was confused. I was shocked and I didn't know what was going on. Of course, the doctors set me up with their endocrinologists, diabetes educators, nutritionists. I'm sure they just threw their whole protocol at me, but it just didn't seem like enough. Something hadn't clicked yet where I felt like I was really managing. This disease and thriving with it. I was just going through the motions of what they had told me to do. So about three months in, finally, I think the shock wore off and I knew that I needed to do something different, but I didn't know where to turn because it seemed like they had provided me with. Everything they had to give the resources, the education, the knowledge, it just wasn't enough. So I felt lost and hopeless. And that was when I came across the nutritional therapy association and I signed up to become certified. So this was actually great because it was not only going to help my. self, but this would also greatly enhance the lives of my personal training clients. So it was like a greater power was looking over me and guiding me to this path. And that's exactly what happened. So going through the nutritional therapy certification, it completely changed my life. No, this is not specific to diabetics. It helps anyone and anyone can sign up for it, but it was exactly what I needed to learn how to eat for my body, how to eat to handle the diabetes and actually feel good. And, but they don't only talk about food. It is a very comprehensive program. And they also consider, holistic, natural lifestyles, trying to avoid chemicals and toxins. We talk about sleep and movement and stress reduction. So the whole thing together. It was what I needed to get myself back on track, to feel healthier, to feel happier, and to be able to navigate this new world and this new disease in a way that worked for me. And because of that, I was able to have two healthy pregnancies, resulting in three kids. I have a daughter and twin boys, so there might be some mom content that pops in every now and then. And then I was able to recover from those pregnancies. Easily there's a lot of hormone shifts and hormone changes can affect your diabetes as well, but I feel like I was able to handle this a lot better, of course, than if I had not gone through the nutritional therapy program. And then after graduating, I was also able to bring my new knowledge to integrate that into my clients lives and provide them just. So much more than just the fitness piece of it. Now it was almost like the health trifecta. We had fitness, nutrition and lifestyle habits, healthy habits that we were putting into place and just seeing astronomical changes and people reaching their goals. So much quicker, like changes happening almost immediately. So to say that I was happy about this program is an understatement. So you won't hear anything about diets from me. I like to help people transition to real foods. So there'll be a whole episode about what real foods are versus processed foods. But I like to incorporate real foods. Basically think of us as like plants. We need food, real foods, sunlight, water, and nature. So that is basically what I am embodying here in this podcast. We're going to talk about just real natural things, no artificially made. Lab made, produced things that are just harming us rather than healing us. We're always working towards healing rather than harming our bodies because we only have one body. And I truly believe that health is our greatest wealth. So we should be investing in our health and, every aspect of life, however we can. So we will be talking about optimizing digestion, improving gut health. Regulating blood sugar, of course, because no, it is not just for diabetics. Our blood sugar affects everyone. It affects your energy levels. It affects your mood. If it's out of balance and for long periods of time, it's. It's very taxing on our bodies and minerals that we should have within our bodies. So we'll definitely be talking blood sugar. We'll talk about reducing inflammation, getting out of fight or flight mode because this world now is just like a go go culture. And so this might make you slow down a little bit more. Get back in tune with what you really need, what your body's telling you, learning how to even just listen to what your body's telling you. And I will just try to help quiet the noise because there is so much nutrition and health information out there. But everything I'm bringing to this podcast is evidence. It's backed, it's been tested, tried and tru tried and tested and I will only speak from, my personal experiences or experiences that I've had from clients. There's not going to be any like fluff or things. That I haven't tried out myself, right? I wouldn't be able to speak to it if I didn't. So I'm hoping I can bring some clarity. If you have struggled with knowing, what is true, what's not true, what's best for you specifically, I'm hoping I can bring some clarity to that. So you can put a plan into place for yourself that best suits your lifestyle, your family, your health goals, your needs, your wants. It's everything I see so many people walking around on a daily basis, struggling with these chronic symptoms, even just like fatigue or headaches or heartburn. And you don't need to live like that. Like how amazing would it feel if you. And I believe that food and nutrition is really at the basis for all of these conditions and symptoms that we just struggle with way too often. Too often, I swear, there's not a lot that food and nature cannot solve on their own. So I will be opening that up for you. So you don't have to have your health hold you back or not be able to achieve something, not be able to attend something you really want to attend because, you can't handle. The discomfort of symptoms that you're going through that might well be easily preventable. I want to have you guys feeling good, nothing harming you, nothing hurting you so you can experience life. That is why we are here to have experiences and experience as much as we can and feel good while doing so. So thank you again for being here. I hope you are. Up for the adventure because I certainly am, and I can't wait to see how this will help you and what you can improve upon, how you can feel better, really just the sky is the limit. It's so exciting, right? And. This is going to be good. I'm also a manifesting generator. If anyone here is into human design. So I get really excited about lots of different topics. So you never know what's going to transpire, but I will keep it, health based and something that you can benefit from, feel better from. So you can live a vibrant life with energy and gratitude. With nothing holding you back. All right. Thank you again for being here. I'm so excited and I will see you in the next episode.
