This is a special bonus episode pulled directly from a recent live training I hosted, How to Stop Living in Survival Mode, and it’s one I knew I needed to share with you.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in your head… there’s a good chance it’s not just what’s happening around you, it’s the hidden stressors running in the background that haven’t been fully processed.

In this episode, I guide you through a simple but powerful exercise using Kidlin’s Law to help you:

  •  Identify the stressors you may not even realize are affecting you
  •  Turn those stressors into clear, actionable awareness
  •  Shift your brain out of overthinking and into solution mode

This is the kind of work that actually helps you move out of survival mode, not just temporarily feel better.

And if this resonates with you, this is just a small glimpse into the deeper work we do inside Wildly Regulated: my program designed to help you feel calm, grounded, and in control of your body again.

Mentioned in This Episode

  •  Kidlin’s Law: “If you write the problem down clearly, you’ve solved half of it”

Hello and welcome back to the Nourished Living Podcast. I am your host, Courtney Podany, today is really special because I am sharing a bonus episode. So what you are going to hear is an actual snippet taken directly from a live training that I hosted yesterday, how to stop living in survival mode. And in this specific segment, I walk you through a really powerful exercise to help you identify hidden stressors. The ones that are often running in the background and keeping you stuck in that constant state of overwhelm and anxiety, we're using something called Kidlin's Law, which is the idea that when you clearly write out a problem, you've already solved half of it. And I take you step by step through how to not only identify those stressors, but how to start shifting them and creating solutions. This is the kind of work that actually helps you get out of survival mode, not just quick tips, but real tools that rewire how you think, respond, and regulate. And if you find this helpful, just know this is exactly the type of work we go even deeper into inside my program. Wildly regulated. Alright, let's dive in. Can you please get out a piece of paper and a pen or pull up a Word document? We're gonna do a quick exercise, so I'm going to put 60 seconds on the clock, just one minute. And I want you to write down or type out. Anything that comes to your mind that stresses you out or causes anxiety or overwhelms, you don't try to like judge it or think about it too much. I just want it to be anything that comes to your mind. Right? And no one else will see this, so don't worry, but. Okay. I'm going to put 60 seconds on the clock right now. I just want you to try to write for that whole minute and then, there is a another part that we're going to do. And it really could be anything. Anything small, anything big. It doesn't need to be like, you know, some huge project you're working on at work. It could be something like getting bills in the mail or, I don't know anything. You have about 15 more seconds. All right, go ahead. You can stop now. So the reason we are doing this is because there is a law, Kidlin's law that says if you write a problem down clearly. And specifically you have solved half of it. And from my experience, living in survival mode, a lot of the times I am just imagining scenarios in my head that may or may not even happen. Right. Most of the time they did not so. When we are able to take all those things that we're thinking about in our head, put them down on paper. You've already solved half of it. So now I want you to just choose two. Does not matter which two, just two that feel that are called to you. And now I want you to turn it into a statement that has emotion tied to it. So for an example. Um, noise is very overwhelming to me and kind of gets me into my anxious state, and I have a lot of kids, so it is oftentimes loud. So my statement is, I feel pressure in my chest when my kids are screaming. Okay. So I want you guys to write out like a clear statement for two of the things that you wrote down. Stress you out. Okay. Then there's one more part to this. So now you're going to write out a question based on those two statements, but the question needs to start with how. Or why it can be how or why. So for my example, my question could be, how can I reduce the screaming? Or since that sometimes seems impossible, how can I take a moment when my kids are screaming and I feel anxious to recalibrate? Go ahead and take a moment there. Take your two statements and now write out a question starting with how or why. Okay, so now the reason we are writing it out as a question, when your mind is given a question, like if someone asks you a question, we ask a question to ourselves, and it starts with how or why. Our mind subconsciously, you might not even be conscious to it, but it already starts trying to figure it out. It is looking for a solution. And it might not come to you right in the moment, but it could be something that comes up in a few days from now. You might all of a sudden have this thought, and it seems like it came out of nowhere, but you know, your brain has just been working on how to answer this question, how to solve this question for you. So now that we have done that, your brain will now be looking for answers for you to help get you out of that survival mode or to reduce things that stress you out based on the two that you chose. So once we're done here, you can go through and do it for your whole list. Um, but this is, you know. This is really life-changing and it's such a simple exercise, right? But this is what I was talking about, how I can't just provide a quick fix for you on this training. You are required to do a little work, but you know, the dividends that it pays out are going to life-changing. All right, we are back. If this exercise resonated with you and you're realizing how many of these hidden stressors that you've been carrying, I want you to know you don't have to figure this out on your own. And I would like to invite you to join wildly regulated. Wildly regulated was built from my own experience navigating chronic anxiety and years of living with an undiagnosed illness. What I teach inside are the exact strategies I still use to support my nervous system, my health, and my overall wellbeing. And it has literally made all the difference in the world for who I am as a person today and how I'm able to show up in the world and show up for my family and friends. Wildly regulated is designed to help you get out of chronic stress, anxiety, and survival mode by focusing on both your nervous system and your physiology Inside the program, we go beyond just awareness. You'll learn how to regulate your nervous system in real time. So you're not constantly feeling on edge. Use food and balanced meals to stabilize your blood sugar and support your mood and energy. Identify your personal triggers and hidden stressors like we did today and actually work through them. Create simple daily rhythms that help you feel grounded, calm in control, and signal safety to your body. And build a version of health that feels sustainable, not restrictive or overwhelming. We're trying to get away from the overwhelm, right? You'll also get ongoing support, guidance and tools so you can actually implement this in your real life, not just understand it intellectually, because the goal isn't just to know what to do, it's to become someone. Who embodies steadiness, regulation, resiliency, no matter what's going on around you.
