I am your host Courtney Podany, and I am popping in today because the EWG just released their dirty dozen list for 2020. Six. So I wanted to update you on that. If you are not familiar, the EWG is the environmental working group, and each year they test produce for their levels of pesticides. And those containing the highest amount of pesticides are known as the Dirty Dozen. Since there is typically lots of pesticide residue left on this produce, it is recommended to buy these 12 items organically. Then the other foods that are not listed in the Dirty Dozen, it is okay to not buy them organically, so it can be organic or nonorganic. And typically there's not like much wiggle room year to year. A lot of times the same foods will come up again and again because that's just kind of like the nature of how that specific produce needs to be grown. Um. But I just wanted to update you with the newest list. So for 2026, your dirty dozen are spinach, kale, collared, and mustard greens that counts as one. Strawberries, grapes, nectarines, peaches, cherries, apples, blackberries. Pears potatoes. And blueberries. So if you like to eat any of those, I would highly recommend buying them organically even though I'm sure you wash your produce once you get it home before you eat it, um, at least when you are bringing it home, it has. Less pesticide residue than if you were to buy it non-organically, and then all the other produce that you purchase, you don't need to specifically have it organic. I will go ahead and, provide the list within the show notes so you can just take a screenshot to have it on your phone with you when you go to the store. You'll know what to buy. You won't have to question anything. So that is this year's Dirty Dozen list, a very short and sweet episode for you. I just wanted to get that out. So there was the most updated information on this podcast. I know I talked about it last year, but uh, that was the 2025 list already. And. EWG typically gets the new list out right around this time. It's typically April-ish. I think it just came out yesterday maybe. Um, so if you were wondering why we didn't have it before, you know, it always takes time for them to go through this process, so. Just something else to keep on your radar. You know, if whenever you hit April, there should be a new Dirty Dozen list being released soon for you so you can try to make the best and the healthiest choices for you and your family. All right, that is it for today. I will see you in the next episode. Thanks for hanging out with me today and tuning into the Nourished Living Podcast.
