In this episode of The Self Love Project, Megan explores a surprising downside of personal growth: what happens when self-improvement starts turning into self-rejection. After finding herself stuck despite knowing all the things she could theoretically do to get unstuck, she takes an honest look at how the tools, lessons, and mindset shifts meant to help us can sometimes become ammunition for everything we think we “should” be doing better.

She unpacks two ways self-improvement can quietly work against us — constantly treating current-you like a project that still isn't finished, and consuming so much personal-development content that the growing pile of strategies becomes more overwhelming than useful. Megan explores the difference between learning about changing your life and actually living it, and why sometimes more information isn't the missing ingredient.

This episode shifts the focus away from constantly fixing, healing, analyzing, and upgrading yourself and toward actually enjoying the person you've already worked so hard to become. Megan explores why growth needs time to integrate, how self-awareness can become self-surveillance, and why you don't need to spend your entire life feeling like a house that's permanently under renovation.

If you've collected enough personal-development tools to open your own metaphorical Home Depot, constantly feel like there's another habit, trigger, mindset, or version of yourself to work on, or have forgotten how to simply be without turning yourself into another project, this conversation is your reminder that there are times for growing — and there are also times to put the tools down, sit in the finished room, and enjoy what you've already built.
