The Arise with Anita Podcast
Rest as Rebellion: Choose A Sacred Pause over Burnout
The pace looks impressive until your body calls the timeout. This conversation gets honest about why rest isn’t a reward at the end of the grind—it’s the groundwork for clarity, creativity, and growth. I share a personal reset that included an unplanned 24 hours of sleep and the powerful reminder that followed: pause on purpose, or life will pause you for you.
We unpack the cost of hustle culture and the beliefs that keep us overbooked and under-listened-to, then map out a simple framework—the HER method: Heal, Embody, Rise. Heal is recognizing the stories that push you past your edge and replacing urgency with intention. Embody is returning to your body’s wisdom with practical tools like breath work, micro-pauses, and quiet hours that anchor focus even in a busy season. Rise is the alignment that emerges when effort meets recovery—cleaner decisions, steadier energy, and a grounded sense of power that makes your work more effective and your life more yours.
You’ll hear clear, actionable ways to build rest into ambition without losing momentum: five-minute daily pauses, an hour of screen-free reset each week, boundary cues for when to slow down, and seasonal check-ins to reassess goals and energy. The takeaway is simple and transformative: slowing down is not a weakness; it’s wisdom. If you’re ready to trade constant push for purposeful pace and lead from presence instead of pressure, this one will meet you where you are and help you choose the more empowering path.
If this resonated, tap follow, share it with someone who needs a reminder to breathe, and leave a quick review so more people can find and rise with us.

SPEAKER_01:Welcome back to the Rise with Anita podcast. I am so excited to be with you guys today. It has been a minute since we've done a solo episode. And on today's episode, we are going to be diving into a truth that many of us learn the hard way. And I was just reminded of this the hard way. And that is taking time for an intentional pause. Because when we don't take time to slow down, to integrate, to pause, to let go of the hustle, we will be forced to. And while I'm not gonna get attuned, all the reasons why I've been on a little paused hiatus for a few weeks now, uh for this episode. I just wanted to really think about and talk about the fact that we live in a hustle culture that glorifies being busy, grind, do more. And here is the reality. Without pausing, your body, your mind, your spirit, and your soul will eventually demand the rest. And sometimes that'll look like it's burnout or illness or having a mental breakdown that you didn't see coming. And this is the heart of hearts authentic expression of me. As I'm recording this, I literally came off a weekend where I slept for over 24 hours in a single weekend. Not usually like me, but it was this very practice. I've been in motion, I have a chaotic schedule going on right now. And aside from that, just and life is life. But in this human experience, I'm realizing that I had to be forced to remember. So I'm wanting to share this reminder with you guys and really emphasize do not be like me. And this is something I'm going to be implementing more regularly, is the intentional pause. Because it would be her method, now that I think about it, had I been not so focused on doing and just really in a state of trying to build this business, and I'm out meeting people and getting myself out there. And in fact, as I'm saying this, I am actually about to head into a very busy season because it's part of just expanding who I am, expanding my reach, and it's beautiful. But what I got really reminded over this last past weekend is the intentionality of taking time. And while I might not always be able to have a day that I can dedicate to taking time to slow down, I have since restructured a plan to actually put in at least an hour of quiet time where I'm stopped and I'm paused in my own essence rather than being so concerned with the amount of what I need to get done. So instead of being so focused on what's next, how I can build this business, those are all important. And those are all the things I'm gonna be really honed in on. But at the same time, I realized I was not taking time for myself. Truly. So what did my body do? And force a shutdown. So if we look at this from the perspective of the her method, healing would indeed be the slowing down of the process. Thinking about the pause, where these old stories are coming in that we have to be working harder. And our patterns around how we navigate stress and how we navigate just our emotional chaos. I was reminded on a call today that sometimes we end up being so on call consumed, but we get unraveled in how much we can do for others and how much we need to do for our businesses that can take a toll on how we slow down ourselves. Then when it comes to embodying, because for those of you who are new here, her stands for heal embody rise. Embodying, it's just taking that time to really pause, reconnect, reassess with your body's wisdom. We know when we are at our wit's end. We know when we're starting to push too hard, and sometimes we still continue to do so, and that is where the problem lies. So once you get out of your mind and you get back into the heart and you just slow down, that is where the magic happens. I think as women especially, we need to learn to slow down. And then when it comes to it, when we finally rise, it's being able to live a life of alignment. Feeling like you're rested, feeling like you're not walking through force, but through a grounded sense of power. You're back to who you are. And there's actually fuel for the world that you want to bring. Because when we take that time to slow down, we end up actually giving ourselves the gift of being able to rest and recover and realign. So I am so grateful for this. It was a beautiful reminder for me. And as we are heading into the rest of the fall, we're in the last quarter of the year. I think it's such a beautiful time to really slow down, pause, reassess what I want to do, reassess what's the best way I can serve my body. And if you guys have just time for like a walk or time for decompression away from screens, I think there's something beautiful to be said about giving yourself that mental space to just connect with yourself. So this week, if you want to practice this in motion, take a simple pause, maybe take five minutes each day, do some breathing. We all know that I'm huge on breath work. Connect with your breath, breathe deeply, connect with your heart. And just ask yourself, what do I need right now to heal to embody and rise? And just see what comes up. Remember, slowing down is not a weakness. It's wisdom. It's how you heal what's heavy, it's how you embody your worth and your truth, and how you rise into your next level of who you're meant to be. If this resonated, or if you are feeling like this is what you needed to be reminded of, pausing before life makes you because it literally just forced me. And then remember you get to choose which is the more empowering choice. Otherwise, it's gonna force you and choose you. Until next time, breathe deep, limp with intention, and rise fully into your power. I'm so grateful for you guys, and I'm excited to bring back a lot of new episodes for you. We have some exciting guests coming up, and just thank you for your patience with me as we are navigating this human experience together. Connect with you all on socials, DM me on Instagram, Facebook, whatever you want. And until then, thank you for rising with me today.
