If your mind keeps returning to old conversations…
 old moments…
 old questions…

You are not alone.

In this gentle, trauma-informed meditation, you are invited to sit beside the thoughts that keep replaying — without forcing them away. Through soft body awareness and steady reassurance, this practice supports your nervous system in settling while your mind slowly loosens its grip.

There is nothing to fix here. Nothing to force. Only a gradual returning to the present moment, one breath at a time.

This meditation is part of Freedom After Narcissistic Abuse with Kate Hamilton — gentle support for women rebuilding after narcissistic abuse.

Welcome to this meditation for when you can't stop replaying the past. I'm Kate. These are the words I once longed to hear, and I offer them to you for emotional support and reflection. As always, this meditation is not a substitute for medical care, therapy, or professional mental health support. And now settling into a quiet and comfortable place, somewhere you are safe and not likely to be disturbed, sit down or lie down. If your mind has been looping, returning again and again to old conversations, old moments, old questions. Know that you are not alone. Thoughts repeat themselves when something inside you is still trying to make sense of what happened. Here and now in this time carved out just for you. You don't need to stop the thoughts. You don't need to solve them, figure them out. We're just going to sit beside them, bringing your attention now to the breath, a gentle breath in, and a gentle breath out, a gentle breath in, and a gentle breath out, softening the face, the jaw, the shoulders, letting go of any tension you may be bringing with you today, setting that aside for now, softening the arms, the hands, the chest, the belly, letting go of any tension in the hips, the legs, the feet, grounding into this moment, this time, this place, this breath, this mind and body, this human being having a human experience, just this turning awareness now to the idea that replaying the past, replaying what happened is not a weakness. It's an attempt at understanding. Could I have changed something? Could I have changed what happened? The mind may search and replay. Turning our awareness now to the body as thoughts arise, noticing where they land in the body. Perhaps there is a tightening, a tension. Perhaps there's a heaviness or a flutter. Just notice the sensation that comes with it, letting the story pass by while you stay with your body. Placing a hand on the area of your body that may be holding some tension that may be holding some heaviness or a flutter, noticing that area, the warmth of your hand, and the intention. This too is part of our shared humanity. There is a thinker of these thoughts, just letting the thoughts drift by, staying grounded in the body. And now I offer these truths to you. Hold on to what feels right for you and let others simply drift by. You are here in this moment, and so you are, dear one. May your mind find moments of quiet. May you walk with peace. May you trust that clarity unfolds over time. May you offer yourself the same loving kindness and compassion you so easily offer to others. You are not broken, and you're not alone.
