Does drinking more water actually help you sleep, or can it backfire? In this episode, I break down the real issue with hydration and sleep: timing. You’ll learn why drinking enough water matters, why too much too late can disrupt deep rest, and how to hydrate in a way that supports better sleep without midnight bathroom trips.

Welcome back to Night Shift with Justin S. King, how to transform your life one night at a time. A lot of these episodes I do are about things that I want to refocus on myself. And though tonight's episode is on drinking water. And does drinking water, more water, help you sleep? Well, the science says that drinking water can help you sleep, but it can also wreck it for some particular reasons. Being hydrated during the day supports your body overall, and you may feel better, think more clearly, and avoid some of the fatigue that comes from being slightly high dehydrated and drinking other liquids. There's a line though, once your hydration starts spilling into the evening, especially night right time before bed, it can start working against you. This I found when I was trying to do the I ran into this problem often when I was doing 75 hard not too long ago, and you have to drink a full gallon of water. If you don't get the gallon done early enough in the day, you may find yourself waking up at night. Question isn't just how much water you drink, but when you drink it. So if you are drinking a gallon of water spread across the day and you're active, sweating, it's a hot climate, and you just want that amount of ounces, you should be fine. But if you're finishing it late at night, you'll find yourself waking up. So the solution found is I got a gallon drinking jug that had times on it, and I set out to finish the majority of the gallon by noon. And you can work with your own self if you're working if you are drinking a lot of water planning on when you finish it. But if you're not doing a challenge like the 75 hard where you're not particularly need a gallon of water for some checklist item, figure out how much water you want to drink ideally to stay hydrated and finish that earlier in the day. So tonight's shift is simple. More water. Drink water first thing in the morning before you drink any other drink. Drink a large glass of water before you drink an energy drink or coffee and wait a while before you add one of those into your routine if you're going to drink a caffeine a caffeinated beverage. So that's it for tonight. My name is Justin S. King. I help entrepreneurs find peace tonight, tomorrow, and for the rest of their lives through sleep optimization, emotion regulation, and discovering their purpose. Good night.
