Welcome back to Night Shift with Justin S. King, how to transform your life one night at a time. Tonight we're going to be talking about stress and one simple thing you can do to help your body regulate stress. So when you are under heavy stress, your nervous system works harder, your muscles stay more tense, your body burns through energy faster, and hydration becomes a bigger deal than we usually think. That's where electrolytes come in. Electrolytes are minerals like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride. They help regulate fluid balance, nerve signals, muscle contraction, and recovery. So, not too long ago, I heard about Gary Brock Breca talking about his morning cocktail, which is just water, lemon, and a pinch of mineral-rich sea salt in the morning. It can really help with your morning brain fog and hydration throughout the day. And there's a sleep connection when your body sleeps better when it feels regulated. Hydration affects that, and mineral balance affects that. Muscle tension affects that, your nervous system affects that. Electrolytes don't directly act like a sleeping pill, but they can help support the system that makes sleep easier, hydration muscles, nerves, and stress recovery. Do not take a salty electric, electrolyte drink right before bed. That could backfire for two reasons. One, too much fluid late at night can wake you up, and too much sodium late can make your body feel more active than settled.
