Tim Ferriss has talked about a simple nighttime “tranquilizer” cocktail made with hot water, apple cider vinegar, and raw honey — sometimes paired with a calming tea like Douglas fir. In this episode, we strip away the hype and turn it into a sleep experiment. Can a consistent bedtime drink help your body wind down, support overnight blood sugar stability, and reduce midnight waking? Test it for three nights, track the results, and let your sleep—not the trend—tell you what works.

Welcome back to Night Shift with Justin S. King, how to transform your life one night at a time. Tonight I'm going to be sharing a simple drink cocktail that can help you fall asleep. First became aware of this around 2019 when Tim Ferris shared his evening routine. And he's since shared this quite a few times since then. And the cocktail is simple. It is you take one cup of hot water, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. He often mentions brags when he's talking about this. And one tablespoon of raw unfiltered honey. Recently he started recommending manuka honey for this drink as well. The first time I heard this that he mentioned this, he began the drink with a decaffeinated herbal tea for specifically Douglas fir. And after he had done sipping the tea, I mean seeping the tea bag, he'd take it out, add the apple cider vinegar and the honey, and he buy this that it would knock him out, that he'd fall asleep quickly. He'd have many other guests who've tried it and says it works for them. Recently, I've only heard him talk about using just the water, apple cider vinegar, and honey for the cocktail itself. I've tried it myself, but it's just a experiment I wanted to share with the podcast tonight, and I'll probably in the future share some more drinks like this that other people swear by. He actually says he doesn't know why it works for him, but some say that perhaps the honey might prevent a blood sugar dip during the night, or that the vinegar may smooth a glucose response, but there's no clear they have no clear explanation why it works for them. So if this is something you want to try, give it a try for a couple nights and let me know if it works for you. That's it for tonight's episode of Night Shift. My name is Justin S. King, and I help entrepreneurs find peace tonight, tomorrow, and for the rest of their lives through sleep optimization, emotion regulation, and discovering their purpose. Good night.
