What if peace doesn’t come from escaping difficult emotions, but from allowing yourself to feel them? Tonight’s Night Shift explores how dropping resistance and noticing an emotion in the body can help it move through—leaving more room for peace, openness, and joy.
Welcome back to Night Shift with Justin S. King. There's an idea that says any feeling fully felt becomes bliss. That doesn't mean that sadness suddenly feels good or that anger becomes pleasant. It means that the feeling itself may not be what creates our suffering. Often it's the resistance, bottling up, pushing down whatever you're trying to feel, distracting ourselves, judging the emotion or trying to force it away. But there can be a level of pleasure or in fully expressing an emotion. Have you ever felt good fully expressing your anger or in the moment? So tonight, earlier in the evening, instead of fixing what you feel, try feeling it completely. Silent your mind and your breath and ask yourself what is my body trying to tell me? What emotion am I trying to feel more of to fully process? Pick one emotion, locate it, name it, feel it rising within you, moving, flowing, and changing on its own. I think there's an idea that an emotion to fully process takes about ninety seconds. I'll have to look up that reference. But we often stop it before that full processing. And underneath an unprocessed emotion, you may discover what you're looking for all along peace, openness, authenticity, and even joy. That's it for tonight's episode of Night Shift. My name is Justin S. King, and I help entrepreneurs find peace tonight, tomorrow, and for the rest of their lives through sleep optimization, emotion regulation, and discovering their purpose. Good night.
