This episode contains an interview with York-based PT Chris Mair about rebuilding his business after relocating, going from zero clients in a new JD Gym to 18 direct-debit clients (21 including three in his front-end offer) and nearing full booking within months.

Chris explains his background (8–9 years as a PT, sports science degree, PureGym, COVID pivot to outdoor training and a container-gym setup in Scotland) and why his old lead-gen methods (classes and referrals) didn’t work in a new city without classes or an existing reputation.

We discuss how switching from free tasters to a paid “Kickstart” front-end offer (initially £50 for four sessions, later £75) increased conversion to roughly 60–75%, improved retention, reduced sales pressure, and created a repeatable system based on talking to gym members.

Chris outlines the four-session structure (consultation, movement assessment, training and optional nutrition, then a prescriptive next-steps conversation), shares plans to go full rent and scale into small group training.
