Stay tuned and find out more when you know what you want. The reason is always because of this is because you think that it will make you feel better, and when you want to feel better and you really really mean it with every fiber of your being, that's when you will start to show up for yourself. You will actually begin to want to take the actions that take you in the directions of your dreams and goals. Hello and welcome to the James Granstrom podcast.

Speaker 1:

In this episode, we are going to ditch New Year's resolutions in favor of something else. Did you know about 40 to 45% of people create New Year's resolutions, and do you know how many of those are actually successful? The University of Scanton recorded that 8% of people create successful New Year's resolutions. That is like a paltry amount, and they found that 75% of people give up on their New Year's resolutions after one week, and the reason being is because they're not working in harmony with the universe. They are working against the universe, trying to push through, trying to resist through, which will never work. What we're going to do is we're going to scrap traditional New Year's resolutions in favor of creating intention, because it's intention in, from within, and tension means to hold. So when you have an idea or a vision in mind, you're holding that, and every action or word that you speak is carried or laden with this energy of intention. That is really, really powerful and that is what I started to use a few years ago, which helped me build this channel, which helped me build a thriving business, which helped me improve the quality of my relationships, which helped me increase my financial abundance significantly.

Speaker 1:

And I want to share with you how I did it. And one of the best ways that you can do it is by understanding that when you have an intention, it's different from a resolution. A resolution says I will do that, but an intention is I'm doing it and I'm showing the universe and myself every single day that I'm moving in that direction. And in common hours, in one day in the future, you'll accidentally stumble across the result that you want, because you've been working towards it all the time. So I want to share with you some of the new habits that I began to employ, which are really different and they're a lot easier than one thinks. And then I want to share with you how you can create and use that blueprint for yourself to get the results that you want. So, when you're creating habits with intention, now you're working towards your dream every second of the day, and there's not a day that you're not working on a dream that you're bringing to life. That's exciting. So you're planting the seed and you're watering it every single day, and that's what I want to help you. I want to help you become the gardener of your life, with your thoughts, your words and your deeds meaning your actions, so that you can net the results that you want in this new year.

Speaker 1:

When you know what you want, the reason is always because of this is because you think that it will make you feel better. And when you want to feel better and you really, really mean it with every fiber of your being, that's when you will start to show up for yourself. You will actually begin to want to take the actions that take you in the directions of your dreams and goals. When you understand the reason why you want something, then that becomes what is known as the emotional driver. And when we're setting New Year's resolutions but in this case, intention what we're actually doing is the reason why we want the new relationship, or we want the improved financial condition, or we want the greater health, or we want the new career or the new house, whatever it may be. When you know the reason why, the action just becomes secondary. It just becomes. That's what I do, because this is what I'm working towards, and a lot of people actually don't know the reasons why they want something. They just want it, and that is good, but it's not good enough. We need to know the reason why, and the reason why is often because of a pain we've felt in the past. So I'm wanting to help you move from pain to possibility, to let you know it is possible with baby steps, and those baby steps are the actions that you can take.

Speaker 1:

And when I first started to apply this, maybe about five years ago, I noticed everything began to shift, and shift really quickly and easily, whereas before, for the last 15 years prior, it was really slow and I couldn't understand why. And until I began to really grasp this insight and the insight is what you resist persists, and until you actually believe it's possible, then you're only going to go around in circles, and I felt that at some level of my being I didn't think it's possible. But then I began to think well, what if it's possible for me and if other people can do it, surely I can do it? And then my mind began to wander to new levels of expansion. And that's really what we need. We need to know that it's possible for you, and in order for things to be possible for you, you need to always ask the question why am I doing this? And when you know why, nothing will stop you. So let's move in to some of these new habits that will create lasting change for you. There are three that I'm going to share with you today, and they're three really simple strategies, but do not underestimate their power, because they really leverage the power of the universe for you.

Speaker 1:

When you want something new to come into your life, the first thing you need to do is make room for it, and a lot of people just overlook this. But until you make room for something, nothing new can come in, and that's because of this one universal principle nature abhors a vacuum. If you ever go into your drawer in a house, there's a drawer with loads of pens and paper clips and all that kind of stuff, and the universal principle nature haws a vacuum just really means this if you make space, nature will fill it in one way or another. Many years ago, I dug these trenches in my home to create a border around the garden, to create some type of like fence, and I needed all the bushes, particularly box bushes, and I think it was about a week or two later my grandma asked me to go around to her house and she said, can you help me remove some things from the garden? And my grandma had an enormous garden and she gave me like 30 of these box bushes exactly what we needed to be able to create that border that I was creating. That I was going to go out and buy but I fortunately got given for free.

Speaker 1:

This literally blew my mind that when you create space, the universe will fill it, and so the first principle is to declutter your home, your emails, your inboxes, your sent messages, your subscriptions. You've got to declutter everything, because if you want amazing new stuff to come in, you've got to let go of the old. So how good is your computer right now? How clean is the screen? Are things in order? Are your subscriptions in order? Have you got any subscriptions that you could let go of and save yourself some money? Because when you let go of subscriptions, it could save yourself some money. When you're not using it, what you're doing is allowing space for financial abundance to flow back in because you're not wasting money. The key thing to having abundance is by using money and spending it wisely, and if you are just buying and having subscriptions that you're not using, they're a waste of money, which means that you're not using your wisdom to its advantage, which could create space in other areas for you to perhaps invest that money in other areas that would be worthwhile.

Speaker 1:

Now, with regards to your computer, your files and your emails, when you create space, you will also create space for your hard drive. That will also create new opportunities to come to you, because when your hard drive is full, you can't put any new photos on there. You can't put any new photos on there. You can't put any new memories on there. So what you need to do is clean out your emails. You need to clean out photos if you don't use them or you've got duplicates. All these types of things will actually create energetic space. This decluttering will enhance the amount of energy that will flow to you, because nature abhors a vacuum when you create the space. The universe will give you more fresh energy In your home. Can you clean your home? Can you have it ready? Can you take any clothes that you're not using anymore? My key rule is if you haven't used it in a year, it's time to let it go and take it to the charity shop. When you are creating space, the universe will fill it with.

Speaker 1:

I was telling someone very close to me recently about this principle of decluttering the wardrobe and it's just amazing. Just in a short amount of time I think it was about two months ago that they started putting bags of clothes and taking them out, and now I've received so many new clothes. It's been actually incredible and it just makes me laugh, because this principle just works, whether you like it or not, and I'm going to say to you do not believe me, but why don't you try emptying your wardrobe and noticing what shows up? You might be given some clothes, you might win a competition, which is what happened to me. You might come into some extra money to go and buy some new clothes. But either way, when you make space, the universe will fill it, and this is a satisfying way to recognize that you can create lasting change in your life by applying the rule of making room for that which you want.

Speaker 1:

Also, if you wanted to attract love into your life, are you making space for that person in your life, in your bedroom? Are you leaving a drawer for them to perhaps put their clothes? Are you making room at the table for them? Are you decluttering your home so that they can come and be with you and stay in your home? Because this is all very important and a lot of people don't think this. This is an intention. When you're sitting down to dinner, are you creating space for two people, or are you having a dinner, a TV dinner, just by yourself? Sit at a table, make it elegant, feel like you're having a beautiful dinner party for two, even if it's just for one. It's amazing that just creating this space, even though it may seem delusional, is just actually creating this beautiful intention that will attract you what you want in a time you won't even imagine, but which is divine time.

Speaker 1:

Another thing to ask yourself in the decluttering process is what can I let go of that's no longer serving me, so that I can feel good? This is a really, really good question, because when you ask yourself a good question, your mind's going to give you the answer. But if you're only asking questions which is well, I'm never getting ahead or I feel stuck, then you're only perpetuating that, and it's a good question that interrupts and can change the trajectory of your life for lasting change. So when you ask yourself, what can I let go of that's no longer serving me so that I can feel good, you will will get an answer. And one of the best things to do is to let go of physical things that have attachment to them. So when you can release attachments to old memories that create an emotional weight on you, that will be so incredibly freeing for you. So one of the things that I did is I used to let go of pictures and clothing that had attachments and association to certain people that were no longer in my life, and when I began to do that, it was amazing the freedom and the new energy that came in.

Speaker 1:

So consider asking yourself what can I let go of which has emotional weight and baggage and attachment so that I can feel free and happy, because that's really what you want. All new energy must be fresh, and one of the best ways we can do it is by releasing attachment to things and memories that make us go back to the past, and sometimes that's a really good thing, but you know when it's actually weighing on your mind and what the world needs is better questions. What the world needs is better questions. What the world needs is people with fresh energy and people who are lighter. So you've got to ask yourself what can I let go of so that I can feel good? And physical things in our life actually weigh us down emotionally and weight-wise, and so when you're able to let go of those things and those attachments, you will become free and usher in the new, which will be the forbearer for you having transformation in this new year.

Speaker 1:

So the second strategy that will create lasting change imbued with intention is to write yourself a list, a list of things that you want, and I implore you to only put about five or six things on there maximum, because what the mind needs is something that it can focus on and believe, and people in the past say be really specific. And I'm going to say don't be specific. And the reason why I'm going to say that is because if you're one of those people who have set resolutions before and never succeeded in following through on some of those specific goals you've had, which was maybe I want to make a million dollars this year and you haven't done it, then the reason that you set those specific goals is because you haven't yet believed that it was possible. So when you set a general goal and it happens, your mind will now go oh, if that has happened, then I can actually believe that maybe this goal is possible as well. But when you get general initially, something magical happens. The mind opens.

Speaker 1:

So on that list of what I really wanted, I wrote goals for the universe to do. And when I looked at that list of what I really wanted, I wrote goals for the universe to do. And when I looked at that list which I put on my fridge, I can honestly say all of that I achieved. And I achieved that because they were so general and I believed it was possible. And when I look at that list, it's blown my mind because it was so simple. But you know what's really amazing? They happened because I put them somewhere where I could see them regularly and just allow my mind to just absorb the idea, and I put them on my fridge.

Speaker 1:

So what I want you to do is just get a piece of paper and write out five or six things that you really want to have happen. What I wrote was a fulfilling career, a wonderful new relationship, financial abundance, international travel, health and vitality, and fun new friends to play with. That's what I wrote, really simple, and I went universe, bring this to me in any which way you see possible, and that's exactly what happened to me. So having that is just an intention of what you want. So that's your vision. So, as we move into number three, what we're going to do is combine number two, which is, what do I really want, and you've stated your five or six things, and then what would it feel like and what actions could I take?

Speaker 1:

So one of the things that I first like to do is, if I want to have a fulfilling career or I want to have wonderful new clients, I ask myself what would that feel like? And I write down. It would feel like fun, it would feel like connection, it would feel easy, it would feel natural, it would feel fulfilling, it would feel satisfying, it would feel abundant. It would feel like I'm bringing out the best in myself and in them. These are the types of feelings a new client feels like for me, or satisfying work feels like for me. And if it were a loving relationship, what would that feel like? That would feel like home. That would feel like love. It would feel like easy. It would feel like fun. It would feel like great connection. It would feel like laughter. It would feel like playfulness. It would feel like expansion, feel easy and you just keep going on, just try and fill that up. Those emotions that you feel are the signature that draws that to you. And when you know what you want, which is if you're ready for a new relationship, what does that feel like? And then, be that version of yourself now and then.

Speaker 1:

If you are looking for financial abundance is what does financial abundance feel like? If I'm wanting to increase the financial income and assets that I have in my life, what does that feel like? Financial abundance feels like ease. It feels natural. It feels flowing. It feels enjoyable. It feels unlimited. It feels pleasurable. It feels enjoyable and feels pleasurable. It feels enjoyable and you just keep going around. It feels like I'm unlimited. It feels like I have choice, it feels like I can go places, I can do things, it feels freeing, it feels like adventure, it feels like responsibility, it feels like fresh air, it feels like there's always more coming, and it doesn't feel like worry and it doesn't feel like stress and it doesn't feel like a lack of peace and it doesn't feel like that. It feels like ease, it feels natural, it feels like I've got choice. Do you see what I mean?

Speaker 1:

So these are the types of feelings that I write down on a piece of paper and then I began to emote, I began to feel and this is the energy signature of abundance, or this is the energy signal of romance, or this is the energy signature of career success.

Speaker 1:

This is the energy signature of x. Whatever it is, you find the word that creates the feeling of the intention that you're wanting to draw to you. Most people fail because they don't do this. So I practice the energetic signature of that which I'm wanting to draw into my life. And when I begin to draw this into my life, I am literally a walking magnet for good stuff. I'm a walking magnet for green lights, and things happen to me that sometimes just like wow, there's another good thing. There's another good thing, there's another good thing, whereas before in my life I'd be walking around going where is it, where is it, where is it, and it was never anywhere to be seen.

Speaker 1:

But as soon as I started to write the emotions that I wanted to feel down, that would come with the association of that which I'm wanting to draw into my life, which might mean, let's say, financial abundance. Then I noticed I became more responsible with my money. I started to be really thankful for what came in, I started to be really appreciative for what went out and I'd be looking for other things that I could invest in. I was looking for literally everything that I had as, wow, I drew that into my life. I drew that into my life. And abundance, and financial abundance, is more than just money coming in. It's good timing, it's good people, it's great relationships, it's good opportunity, it's vitality, it's sleeping well, it's resting well, it's laughing plenty, it's having good ideas. All of these things, or abundance, is all based on this energy signature that you have total control over and no one else has.

Speaker 1:

The reason why most people don't succeed at resolutions is because they're not broadcasting energetic signatures or energetic feelings out long enough, because most people are rubbish at focusing, and what I'm sharing with you is three simple things that you can do. Number one you declutter. Number two, you ask yourself what you really want. And number three, you ask yourself how would having this make me feel? And the caveat and the bonus section now is what could I do about it? So if there's something that you could do to maybe encourage new friends is what sport do you like that you could start potentially to meet new friends? Or what social club could you go and visit to start meeting like-minded friends? Could you join a gym? Could you go to self-help seminars, because you never know who you can meet at some place. It's just amazing how this works when you recognize your intention is is that I want to draw wonderful new friends into my life.

Speaker 1:

If you want that, then you need to put yourself in an environment that's different from what you have been doing, and so asking yourself, what would a friendly version of myself do and where would they go? And if I want to increase my financial abundance, well, what would the wealthy version of myself do here? What would he wear? Where would he go, what would he eat? What would he spend his money on? What wouldn't he spend his money on? What would he learn to invest in? What wouldn't he invest in?

Speaker 1:

Asking yourself these questions and living from this space truly creates transformational change, because you're meaning it every second of the day. Need to ask yourself is where would I be wise with my cash? You know you've got to ask yourself these questions the entire time, because when you're asking yourself an empowering question, you're going to get an answer, and when you really mean it, which is the emotional driver, that is your why, and the reason why is because you want to feel better. You want to have a long-lasting, thriving life. You want to feel better. You want to have a long lasting, thriving life. You want to have better relationships. You want to have better quality health and you want to have wealth and choices to be able to do things you want to do. But most importantly is you want to be able to contribute to the livelihoods of the world and other people as well. And that's really difficult to do when you're always feeling lack to do when you're always feeling lack. So we need, in order to step into this creative, abundant, magnetic version of yourself, is you want to know what you want to have, you want to know how you want it to feel and you want to know what you can do about it, because we must act in the physical world.

Speaker 1:

When I first started doing these podcasts, I was like I'm not a podcaster. What would a podcaster do? He'd do a podcast every week. So for two years straight I did a podcast every week and so I became a podcaster and because of that, new, amazing opportunities came into my life and five years in, even more amazing opportunities have come into my life. The amount of people that reach out to me, the amount of amazing new people that I get to me, is all because, just that I because, quite frankly, I was drinking and having a really topsy-turvy lifestyle I asked myself what would a healthy person do, and I changed my diet, I stopped drinking, I changed the clothes, I even, to a certain extent, changed the people I was hanging out with and I really, really meant it, and I started a meditation practice. So all of these things began to unfold. It probably took about a year and a half before I began to actually change that trajectory of the health, moving out of some alcohol addiction before things really became amazing, but it was four months of a meditation practice, asking myself what would the healthy, peaceful version of myself do, and that's when I was guided to meditation. And so, within four months of that, I managed to wean myself off, naturally alcohol and into having a sober lifestyle, which actually saved my life.

Speaker 1:

So when you ask these questions what would health do? What would a wealthy person do? What would a successful version of myself do? What would me being the perfect weight, what would I do and what wouldn't I do? And then take the actions that follow. You'll be surprised and delighted and mesmerized by what happens, because when you ask a question, the mind will have to follow, because the mind is like google tell me what I would do if this was my reality. And so you're now living from the reality and taking the actions. Now, and after a few months of keeping doing this, you're going to change your entire life, and that is how you create lasting change. Because when you become wealthy and become even more wealthy, or you become healthy and you're enjoying so much vitality, you are still asking the same questions how can I preserve my health, how can I preserve my wealth? How can I continue to improve the quality of my relationships? How can they deepen? How can I can contribute to the lives of other people in more meaningful ways than what I'm already doing? And when you ask that question over and over again, in all these different categories that you've written down and put on your fridge now, you'll begin to be living from that reality, and when you live from that reality, your external world will begin to change and unfold.

Speaker 1:

One of the things that really blew me this year was I wrote what I really wanted was international travel, and I didn't know where I wanted to go. I was in a new country, in a new environment, with not many people that I knew, but I just knew these principles, and so I made it a bit of an experiment. I made it a bit of an experiment, I made it a bit of a game, and that's what I want you to do. I want you to make this a fun experiment rather than setting resolutions saying I must do this and I must do that. Make this new year an experiment for you to recognize that you are a powerful creator and anything is possible. But one of the things I want to share with you is a story that happened to me back in June of this year, which was I was writing international travel and I didn't know where I wanted to go. I just wanted international travel.

Speaker 1:

And I was invited, with some friends that I just made, to Morocco, to Marrakesh, and we went for an amazing weekend and I was blown away that it was not only fun with such like-minded people, but also it was in a luxurious setting as well and it was all affordable as well. And it was amazing and I feel so blessed that I could do that. And only a week later, my friend asked me to go mountain climbing with him in Chamonix. My friend asked me to go mountain climbing with him in Chamonix and I had a gap in my schedule of that week and I couldn't believe it. I was like you know what? What would the wealthiest version of myself do? And I happened to be in a very good situation. So I went on that holiday as well and we went mountain climbing and it was amazing. And more things like that continue to happen. We went mountain climbing and it was amazing, and more things like that continue to happen.

Speaker 1:

And then, when I look back on the notes that I put on my fridge, I recognize I'm actually living what I wrote down on this sheet because I was always asking myself what would the wealthy version of myself do? And when other things came up, I would say, no, he wouldn't do that. So I'd be very mindful of what I was doing, what I was spending my money on, but, more importantly, where I was investing my energy. And I wanted this year to be one of having an experiment to see how much can I invest in myself and how much do these principles work. So I'm sharing with you these principles so you can transform the quality of your life, but make it fun doing so. Just understanding how you can leverage the power of the universe to work in concert or in harmony with it rather than against it. Trying to use willpower to battle through, which is why only eight percent of people ever seem to attain their goals when they're setting new year's resolutions.

Speaker 1:

Try this, this general approach. Notice how easy and more fun it becomes, rather than feeling it's a must. When you are writing this down, this seems all doable, and when you're asking yourself better questions, you are surely gonna get better answers.
