What if the reason you keep repeating the same emotional patterns isn't because you're broken—but because your nervous system is still protecting you from a past it believes is happening now?

In this episode, I sit down with biochemist, psychotherapist, and creator of Healing From the Body Level Up, Dr. Judith Swack, to explore why insight alone rarely creates lasting change—and how true healing begins when we work with the body, the unconscious mind, and the nervous system together.

We dive into the science behind EFT tapping and energy psychology, unpacking how stimulating specific meridian points may help calm the stress response, restore balance, and shift the body out of fight-or-flight. Dr. Swack explains the connection between nerve endings, endorphins, homeostasis, and why emotional trauma often continues to live in the body long after the event has passed.

You'll also learn practical techniques you can begin using immediately, including an effective self-hug alternating bicep tapping exercise, breathwork, meditation, and movement practices designed to regulate the nervous system and release stored stress.

The conversation then expands into a deeper exploration of healing and alignment. Dr. Swack introduces her four-level model of human experience—the conscious mind, unconscious mind, body, and soul—and explains how misalignment across these levels can contribute to anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, addiction, insomnia, and the feeling of being outwardly successful while inwardly unfulfilled.

Through compelling client stories and decades of clinical experience, she offers a grounded, science-informed perspective on trauma, PTSD, emotional healing, and what it truly means to live in alignment with your deepest purpose.

Whether you're navigating unresolved trauma, chronic stress, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, this conversation offers practical tools, fresh perspectives, and genuine hope for lasting transformation.

SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you, James. I'm beyond thrilled to be here.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, fantastic. So I guess to understand all these words, all these accolades, to understand what you've created with healing from the body, uh, we under need to understand your story. How did you get into this? What's your story? How did you lead into being doing this for such a long period of time?

From Cancer Research To NLP

SPEAKER_00

Well, when I was a child, I wanted to be a doctor. So I was determined and stubborn to be a doctor. So I was pre-med and I applied to medical schools. But my my professors told me that I'd be wasted in medical school because I had a rare gift, which is called a research mind. And I should get a PhD and do biomedical science and advance the field. And I said, okay, but I want to be a doctor. So I applied to medical school and I didn't get in because it turns out that one of my professors wrote me a letter of recommendation that said, I think she'd be better if she would got a PhD in biomedical research. She has a research mind. So I didn't get in. So of course, my first job was in a biochemistry lab doing research. And within a week, I was in love and I was like, this is my place, and I really don't feel like being a doctor. But I was stubborn and I was going to be a doctor anyway. So I was going to apply to medical school where I was working, and I asked the MD PhD, Japanese, by the way, who I'd been collaborating with all year, if he would write me a letter of recommendation. And he actually shouted no. And I was startled and I said, Why not? And he said, Because you'd be wasted as a doctor. You have a rare gift, you have a research mind. You should get a degree in biomedical research and do research. Now, how many times had I heard that? And the truth is that I loved it, and my heart wasn't into being a doctor. So I got a PhD in biochemistry and I worked at the National Cancer Institute on cancer research, and I loved immunology, and I majored in immunology and uh all kinds of wonderful scientific things. But while I was getting my PhD, my love life was terrible. I kept attracting the same emotionally unavailable man in different bodies. So I took a self-help workshop where I was introduced to the unconscious mind, which I'd been unaware of because, of course, it's unconscious. And I realized it opened an entirely new world for me, which got me very excited. And so I took training in neurolinguistic programming, which is the science of how the unconscious mind works, to heal the patterns that were causing me to unconsciously self-sabotage. So I healed those, and then, well, I got happily married. We're going on 37 years, and it feels like no time at all.

SPEAKER_01

Amazing. Very, very different from being an immunologist.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So uh, so meanwhile, in my NLP training, my co-students uh caught me at a break and said, We want to work with you privately. I said, What are you talking about? I wear a lab coat. I work in a lab with, you know, benches and centrifuges and things like that. Anything larger than an enzyme is too big for me to grok. And um and um I can't, you know, go away. I literally went shoo, go away. And they folded their arms. I've got two people staring at me, and they say, No, we want to work with you. And I said, But I don't even have an office. And this woman said, Well, you can use my office in the evening, and it's five minutes from your apartment.

SPEAKER_01

And an opportunity presented itself, yes, and then doubly presented itself. So, what do these new clients, what do they think that you could help them with?

SPEAKER_00

Well, relationships was big, really, mostly relationships.

SPEAKER_01

So, from the course that you'd done in NLP, was that the thing that they thought, wow, Judith's going to be able to help us with this challenge?

SPEAKER_00

Well, NLP can actually get you on stuck to do anything because NLP is about modeling success. And in order to model success, you have to be able to understand people who are successful, how do they do what they do? How do they think? How do they act? What's their perception of reality? And it's called modeling. In NLP, it's called modeling. So if you want to be really good at something, you find who's really good at it, and you you interview them and or you you ask them to mentor you, and they and they teach you their way of doing it, and then you copy their way of doing it, and then add nuances that are unique to you because you're not them. Yeah. And and so you model that. So NLP helps you be successful in every area of your life. So whatever they came to me for, I help them with.

SPEAKER_01

You've gone from NLP, immunology, to understanding energy medicine. How does this all relate?

SPEAKER_00

Well, when I finished my PhD and moved to the greater Boston area, I took master practitioner training in NLP and continued my practice part-time. And I was introduced to Roger Callahan's work because in 1986 he published a book called The Five Minute Phobia Cure. And he introduced the world to tapping. Tapping. Everybody's heard of tapping.

SPEAKER_01

EFT tapping, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So he started it, and he had taken an applied kinesiology class that works at the body level, and they they used the um the acupuncture meridian model of energy and you know body functionality. And he found that if you tap in certain points on your face and your body, that it will release traumatic reactions in minutes. So he called it the five-minute phobia cure.

Tapping Basics And Why It Works

SPEAKER_01

So let's just go through for the audience that are watching. And if you're listening, we can try and explain it. The first one is on the top of the head, is that correct?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I've done this myself for many years. Second one is above the eyebrow.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I did? I simplified. I just said tap the whole eye socket.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And that's that way you don't have to think of where where it is. Just I think face, torso, hands start at the top of the head, then you tap around the eye socket, tap under the mouth, under the nose, under the mouth, under the collarbone. But I'm going to show you something in a second. Then you rub the chest wall, tap on the armpit points, bottom of the rib cage, and then all the finger points. Starting with the outside of the thumb.

SPEAKER_01

And these are all massive meridian acupuncture points, correct?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, those are the ends of meridians. But you know, when it first came out, people were skeptical because in the United States, you know, Chinese medicine was foreign. And they thought it was woo-woo. So nobody understood the word meridians and energy psychology. They thought it was too mystical or strange or weird or something. And people would say, I don't understand how tapping um on your face is gonna help you clear a phobia or help you release trauma. Made no sense. And when I was teaching this, you know, back 30, 30 some years ago, um, people who would come to the training, they came because they were interested, but then they'd be skeptical and um and they'd they'd question me. But I never thought it was weird because remember, I come from biology, and one of my majors for my PhD was neurochemistry. And I really just saw it as neurochemistry because here's the thing when you're tapping these points, they're activating nerves. So back to 5,000 years ago, the Chinese didn't call them nerve endings, they called them meridians, and they mapped the meridians, but these are nerve endings. So if I used uh current Scientific American language model, I would say these are the end of these are nerve endings. And it turns out that uh a man named George Hewlett did the research at the NIH in the 50s on why ac how acupuncture works. And he discovered that these points were nerve endings, and when you stimulated them, and he would put little needles with electrical, he put electricity into them and stimulate them, and then watch what happened in the body and take blood tests and everything. He realized that when you stimulate these nerve endings, it releases endorphins in the body. And what happens is that in the fight or flight reflex, the fight or flight reflex fires off when your body feels that's in danger, and it raises the cortisol levels and adrenaline and endorphin levels in your body and um activates that fight or flight reflex where your heart beats rapidly and you you know you can run or you can fight or or you freeze. But it turns out that for every on system in the body, there's an off system. It's called homeostasis. There you go, a science word. And um, so the fight or flight reflex releases cortisol and endorphins, but when the level of endorphins rises high enough in the bloodstream, it feedback regulates to the hypothalamus and pituitary and shuts off the fight or flight reflex. This side is called the calming reflex. So there's the fight or flight reflex, and then there's the calming reflex. And it turns out that when you stimulate the acupuncture meridian points, which are nerve endings, they actually stimulate the release of endorphins, they activate the calming reflex.

SPEAKER_01

So that's the rest and digest system, is that correct?

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

So you've got fight or flight, rest and digest. So actually, when tapping, you're actually turning on the switch of the calm, rest and digest parasympathetic nervous system, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So we do this naturally and all the time because the tapping points that you just said, you know, anytime a kid is upset or something, don't you notice people reach out and pat them on the head? Or a dog is upset, you pat them on the head, it calms them down, right? Or uh when people are upset, they they they grab their face, you know, they put their hands on their forehead, or they they grab their face, or they put their hand over their mouth, or they sit like this, or they chew on their fingers. Yeah. How many people bite their nails and chew their cuticles down because they're stressed and they're automatically naturally activating their calming reflex by by touching their bodies in certain places.

SPEAKER_01

Makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

And they're very specific places, it's not random.

SPEAKER_01

We think it's random, but it isn't at all, which is interesting.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's it's unconscious, but it's not random. What I teach people is that you can pull up a memory of something traumatic, feel the emotion in it, and then intentionally turn it off by activating the calming reflex.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that makes sense. So if you know that there's a switch in the body and you know where it is, then you can turn it off. And that's basically the thesis of your work. Is that correct?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So that's the thesis of the trauma techniques, the energy psychology trauma techniques. So it didn't seem strange to me at all that we have an energy field. And and any and every electric circuit has a magnetic field around it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the Earth has even got a magnetic field. It's pretty simple. Understanding that there's a bioelectric field around the human being, around us, around the planet, around Earth, around trees, around animals, and even curlien photography, which I can't remember what decade that was developed, but I had my picture taken of curlean photography, curlian, and it shows you, you know, the colours of your energy field, which is interesting. So understanding that particular biofield or energy field, how does that tie up with your work, which is healing from the body level up?

Four Levels Of Being And Alignment

SPEAKER_00

What I realized when I was wanting to get happily married is that you have many levels of being. So I realized that we have a conscious mind, an unconscious mind, a body level, and a soul all at once. And that opened other new worlds for me.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, this is really interesting. So that research analysis part of yourself was like, let me discover all these different areas, these bioelectrical fields. So let's go back to them and list them so you know the audience can really understand. So, and I can as well. So there's the conscious, the unconscious, and what's the body, the body, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And the soul.

SPEAKER_01

And the soul. And you know, like I call the body the vehicle, I call the soul the experience. These are my terminology, I think that's quite fun, and I call the mind the driver. So if the mind is the driver and it's unconscious, it could be unconsciously creating self-sabotage, or it could be unconsciously creating success. You know, I've got friends who are very successful and they don't know how they do it, they just do it. You know, and when I when it's come to me, I've done certain things automatically very successfully. And then there are other things that I haven't. I'm like, well, what's that? Is that something in the unconscious so that I can make it conscious?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, that's exactly right.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So healing, healing from the body level up, which basically got put together when I discovered, I discovered, like it's new. Uh, when I discovered all these four levels of being, I realized that we are multi-level beings and that your conscious mind is the only mind that you're consciously aware of, but it doesn't really run the show. The unconscious mind runs the show, or the body runs the show, or the soul runs the show. And if you're really going to be successful in life, you have to align all your levels.

SPEAKER_01

So you've got to align the mind, the body, and the soul.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And when they're all in agreement and working together in the same direction, then success comes easily to you.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's alignment, right? It's just alignment. So success, you know, what some people would call success, I just call it alignment, right? So it's like those three things coming into fashion all at all at the same time. It's like they're all firing and wiring at the same time and off they go. The lights are all on simultaneously.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And that's the challenge because what happens is in life, we uh we acquire damage patterns that run at the different levels. So, what I say is I I presuppose that the soul is in this body in this time frame in order to experience this form of life in this game. This this life is game, right? Learn the rules and and make the best of it and create something. And um, so the soul chose to be in this body at this time in order to experience this kind of life, make the most of it, and make a contribution to the world that's unique to your being, and then to continue to grow and evolve.

SPEAKER_01

Makes sense, right? I like this from a scientific point of view, but we're talking about the soul. And I like to, for some people who who may be a bit lost already, if I read your work or have understood it at all, or at least some other people's works that mirror what you talk about, it's kind of like the soul is electricity going into this physical form. And with the electricity, you're alive, and without the electricity, the body is not alive. So, for instance, when I saw my father when he passed away, I looked at the body um at the funeral and I thought, he's not in there. And I needed to have that experience, right? I could see this was the housing, this was the casing, that was my father's body. But I said he's not in there, I can tell he's not in there. So, for anyone listening, a way of understanding that can gentle the death experience to just understand that we're all part of this beautiful energetic field, and some of it is just housed in this thing called your body, which is having an experience and evolving and growing.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. So that's why I have to teach people's souls the care and feeding of the body and the unconscious mind and the conscious mind, because this is an experience, and the soul and the body and the unconscious, they all need to work together in order to manifest what I call soul throughput. In other words, in order to manifest the soul's intention for having come into this body to begin with, it has to look at the equipment basically, and it has to say, this is what I'm equipped with to play this game of life. And now I want to play to my strengths, the strengths of the equipment, and then I want to acquire more skills and resources and abilities to balance out the weaknesses in my uh composition. And I also want to clear up any glitches.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so if we were looking like we were a computer game, we're like an avatar on a computer game.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

This is this is the avatar that we've been given. Make the best of it. This is what's working, this is what has some glitches, this is what has some damaged circuits potentially, but we can sort those out. Is this what you're saying? Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I'm saying. I actually call this an avatar. I'm I'm glad you used that term.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'm just trying to I'm just trying to like make it sound understandable to anybody listening or watching. Um because it's a concept that we've been reminded of by movies like The Matrix and by movies like Avatar itself. Yeah. So we can kind of relate to these movies in some capacity, but we're having a day-to-day, real life human experience right now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So I tell people your soul, this is the philosophy of my methodology. I mean, there are other philosophies, but this is my model. So the soul came into the body in order to have an experience of this form and to make a difference, a contribution, a purpose. Um play the game, create the best life possible in this form, and then continue to grow and evolve. And if we're going to go big spiritual, and then contribute to the collective. So people ask me, what do you think a soul is? And I say, Well, it's a unit of God energy. And what is God? God is the total life force energy of the universe, and it's the creative force in the universe. So God is the energy of growth, evolution, and creation.

SPEAKER_01

And I think of it as a either a giant green fluorescent amoeba in the universe, because you know, of course, you're a physicist or a biologist, so you're gonna think of it like that, right?

SPEAKER_00

And I think of us as pseudopod extensions, and so our sensory system and what we experience, we're the uh sensory system of God, and so whatever we experience gets piped up into the collective, and as we grow and evolve, God grows and evolves. And we have free will to a certain degree to make choices and learn and grow and find new things and create. So, what's interesting is since we're a unit of God energy, that means we are a unit of creation energy, which means that we can create and manifest the type of life that we want if we know what we're equipped, if we know what the equipment is and we know what the rules of this dimension are. And so I spend a lot of time teaching people the rules, right? I'll say it's a rule. So, anyway, that's what we're here for. And but my my premise is that if something isn't working, some area of your life, because it should be working, then there's a misalignment of the levels, meaning there's something running at some level. That's interfering with your uh outcome, with your intention. There's something interfering. So I call that unconscious self-sabotage, although it could be running at any level. So if we were looking at it electrically, block or stuck energy, it it all boils, you know, no matter what kind of pattern it is, it boils down to stuck energy. Something's not moving in the flow of the alignment. Yeah, something's not moving, something's stuck.

SPEAKER_01

So how do you recognize that pattern that they're operating from? And do most people miss that understanding that there might be a block?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. I mean I did. Remember, that's how I got started in the whole thing. I recognized after several several dating experiences that I was running some kind of pattern and it wasn't working, but I couldn't figure out mentally what it was and what I could do about it. But I could see that I was repeating the same thing over and over again. And that's where I decided, you know, research mind, I had to go looking for the answer, and it wasn't anything within my awareness. So I had to go look for it. And then of course I found it NLP, and then the rest was history. So what I tell people is notice what's working in your life and notice what isn't working in your life. And then the first question is what's going on in the inner levels, right? Just notice is something working, is it not? Because your conscious mind is your rational mind. So it's the logical mind. It should notice that something isn't working, something isn't adding up, something isn't making sense. But the problem is that we're taught that the conscious mind is all there is. People don't go think to go looking in the unconscious mind. Look, I mean, I fell onto it by accident. And um, so they keep trying to figure it out mentally or talk themselves out of it or beat themselves up for it. But that actually doesn't clear the pattern. So I teach people when they first come to see me, you're a multi-level being. And if something isn't working, look at the inner levels. And your conscious mind's job is to go find it and then bring resources and tools to heal whatever is stuck.

SPEAKER_01

I uh I like Einstein's quote, and it just sort of comes into you know, reflecting on what you've just shared, which was Einstein said, he goes, the solution to a problem is not on the same level as the problem, it's on a very different level or a different frequency. So the solutions to your problems aren't on the same frequency as the problem, they're on a very different frequency. So he goes, you need to shift frequencies in order to see a solution.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

So hence when you have a problem, if you keep thinking about it, all you do is stay in the same frequency as the problem. And of course, Tesla said, you know, you've got to think of the universe in terms of numbers and frequencies, right? So this sort of makes me reflect back on your work to think, you know, you're helping people shift frequency to to have the solution to the challenge, whatever they've been experiencing, so that it now becomes a new platform or a new baseline that they can exist from and have a new experience with.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And in fact, I have accumulated over the years techniques that work in minutes to clear the stuck energy at the right frequency. Okay. So I have 50 52 techniques on my menu. Why 52? Because different stuck energies run at different frequencies. So you have to match the right stuck energy with the right frequency technique to release it.

SPEAKER_01

So if we were to just have an example of one of those 52 releasing techniques that people could do at home, they could even try right now. Could you give us a little example of what that might be?

SPEAKER_00

And then here is a very quick technique that will work in minutes.

Quick Reset Techniques You Can Use

SPEAKER_00

You just hug yourself because already hugging, you know, when people are upset, you hug them. What? It calms them down. So you hug yourself and then you tap alternating on your biceps, which by the way, regulates left brain-right brain integration, just for you to know. So you hug yourself and you tap alternating on your biceps for about three minutes, focusing on that emotion, that experience, and it will literally release and drain out of you and be gone, and it doesn't come back.

SPEAKER_01

So embracing the emotion as it comes up. So if let's say someone's got anxiety, for instance, or depression, or is angry, or or whatever the lower emotion might be, the idea is to put your hands and hug yourself, like you would put your hands like on both your biceps here and cross your arms, and then alternate the tapping whilst feeling that emotion, and that's for about three minutes. Is there any words that you say, or is it just feeling the emotion?

SPEAKER_00

No, you just feel it. But the frame, the attitude here, I teach the people to have a conscious mind attitude. So your conscious mind's job is to be Sherlock Holmes, and the attitude is inquiring minds want to know what's going on in the inner levels. Okay, so you go into inquiry mode, and then when you find the stuck energy, you go into compassion, then it aligns, it comes back into alignment with the whole. So when when people have a trauma, I map the structure of trauma. And anytime they have a traumatic shock, they will imprint the shock and fear in that memory, anger and rage, sadness and sorrow, hurt and pain. And I sort of have two major categories, two standard major categories of trauma. There's loss and there's violence. So if you have loss, you also imprint a feeling of emptiness because now you've lost something, there's something missing. If you have violence, you imprint a feeling of pollution because you've been slimed energetically. So I say, think of a trauma. What emotion pops up? And they say, okay, this emotion, I say, where do you feel in your body? And then we hug and tap, or we do a whole tapping thing. So let's do a little experiment.

SPEAKER_01

Why not? Let's just and let's do something on something like loss. I think that's quite human for people to have like loss, right? You know, maybe it's a loss of a loved one, or maybe it's a loss of a relationship. I don't know. There could be a host of different things, right?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe it's a loss of a job, maybe it's a loss of a body part.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, could be all sorts of things, right?

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Loss of freedom in some capacity that you feel that you have zero control over.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Let's have a little experiment then.

SPEAKER_00

All right. So, James, think of a trauma. If you have anything left, because I know you've been working on yourself forever.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, I'll be candid with the, you know, the the audience here. Like, I've been meditating every day for 22 years, and I've been very conscious about my my well-being because before it was a mess. And then beautifully it's come into alignment for such a long period of time that that's what I know now. Um so there's lots of little things that I do, but one of them is to just be aware of how I'm feeling on a moment-to-moment basis. So, are there any things that could be well, let's just say like loss of a uh of a parent or a best friend? Let's do something like that. Because one of my best, you know, I I've had you know a couple of people very close to me pass away, and I'm absolutely fine with it now, but but because they've left me gifts behind. But that doesn't stop to say that there isn't love there, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So um see what pops up. Just go with your intuition.

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_00

Think of you know, a loss of a good friend, and see, even though there were gifts and so on and so forth, um, just see if there's any lingering, you know, stuck with negative emotion. Like still a little bit of grief or still a little bit of uh um anger.

SPEAKER_01

I don't actually feel that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I didn't think so.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I um and also I'm not no, maybe I'm not a good example, and also with my father who passed away, you know, like I really reflected back on this, you know, for quite some time. Of course, at the beginning it was like full of grief, but I think it I think that my reflection on it was I am so pleased he's not in pain anymore, and I'm so pleased I got to spend some time with him. So I reframed everything, Judith. This was my mental level.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, but that isn't, but that's a mental, that's a mental level. I know that you do meditation. And meditation releases things at the soul level and at the unconscious level. So, and you meditate every day, right? Yeah, or and you exercise, and exercise activates the calming reflex. So, so if something shocks you, you can either go run run a few miles and clear it, or you can sit there quicker and do this, or tapping. Yeah, but so um, so you've processed it energetically using meditation as a technique or using exercise as a technique. And those are techniques, yeah. Those are techniques that work at the inner levels. So you didn't just sit there and go, okay, my dad is gone, but uh it's a good thing because, and then rationalize it. That didn't clear it all. You did the other internal techniques that released it.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, funnily enough, now you came to mention it. I remember when my sister my had both my sisters come out the day after my dad died. And um I said to my sister, I said, We need to run. We need to run in the morning. And this was the first thing she goes, what? I was like, Oh, we're running every morning. It's like 20, 25 minutes, I don't care. We're running. And I knew that intuitively or instinctively that that was going to be really healthy. And I think we were together for a couple of weeks and we did it every morning. And I still meditated before I went for a run, but then I did it and we were up at like eight o'clock running. And um, and by the end of those two weeks, we'd managed to put ourselves in the best possible space for the next chapter.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. So you used running as the body level technique to activate the calming reflex and erase the trauma. Right. So that will process anything traumatic or stressful for you, which is why exercise is a good thing. But you know, not everybody's a runner, and everybody can actually hug themselves and tap. Yeah. So, you know, not that you shouldn't, you know, exercising and running, that's good. But to release trauma in the moment or when it comes up, you want to grab a technique wherever you are. If you're in an airplane and you're upset about something, you're thinking about it, you're not going to run up and down the aisle, so you can do this.

SPEAKER_01

Or you can see this is great, you see, because you don't always have access to go for a run or or do whatever, you know. Because sometimes these emotions or the feelings come up when you are sat down and you are not engaged in an activity, and then suddenly along comes the traumatic memory or whatnot. And I know everybody's got to be able to do that. Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Something triggers you and you didn't expect it. And something comes up, and now you're reacting, you're like, what? So then you want to tap right then when it comes up.

SPEAKER_01

So, how does that relate to something like breath work?

SPEAKER_00

Breath also activates your calming reflex.

SPEAKER_01

So, this is just another another ability to be able to reset the nervous system.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. So that's the deal. You if you're working at the body level, and I say the body rules, because we're living in a body, if your body's not happy, I say a happy body is a happy person. If your body's not happy and it's in pain or something, or upset, or it feels emotionally unbalanced, you're not going to be comfortable. So it's important to figure out what you're feeling. If it's a trauma, if it's coming from a trauma, and whether it's an old memory or a fresh one, you want to do tapping to clear that and and erase it right then as it comes up so you don't accumulate it. You know, I have people come in who have all kinds of body illnesses and pain and ailments, and it turns out that it was an accumulation of trauma over the years in their body affecting their nervous system adversely and causing physical symptoms.

SPEAKER_01

So would you be um open enough to share with us just an example? Because alas, I haven't been able to do the to do the to do the the hugging uh parasympathetic nervous system reset. Could you just share with us a story of one of your clients that have managed to use this successfully? So, how it might be relatable to the audience?

Client Stories On Pain And Trauma

SPEAKER_00

I just gave a presentation at a conference and I asked for a volunteer demo subject. So one woman comes up and she says, I slammed my car door on my thumb, and I and she teaches karate, and I haven't been able to extend my thumb since then, even though it healed. And she goes like this. So, all right, so go back to that slam and feel what comes up for you. Pain. Okay. So where anybody feels the pain? In my thumb. Okay. So we did a round of tapping on the pain. We erased the memory of the pain. I mean, the finger had healed up. I go, how's it feel now? She goes, Oh, good.

SPEAKER_01

So it came back as in the extension, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it came back. And then the next woman came up and she said, she was limping. And she said, uh, I when I sit down, I have trouble getting up. And when I get up, my hip glitches, and I limp for a little bit until I straighten out. And I also have a bad pain in the other side of my hip. And I've I was in a bad car accident. The van went over the road and twirled around and threw everybody around, and uh she recovered physically, but five years later, she still is left with this handicap. I said, All right, so let's think about this car injury. And what comes to mind, and the most dramatic part was the being thrown around because the car literally rotated as it went down the side of the uh mountain. And so I said, All right, well, let's do tapping on the rotation and go back into that motion and um reverse it as you're tapping, run your body backwards to erase the memory of the rotation. And she did, and she was sitting down tapping, and I said, All right, stand up. She stood up, no glitch in the hip. She walked without a limp. It was amazing. And then I said, Now the hip, does this hip still hurt you? Yes, because you see, she was rotated to the right, her left hip grabbed to prevent the body from twisting. So after we cleared the twisting motion, then we did another round of tapping on the hip so that it could let go of the trying to protect by holding on, and boom, the hip pain went away.

SPEAKER_01

That's amazing. And you know, someone listening could just think that seems almost unbelievable. But until you have your own experience of that freedom from that pain or the freedom from the trauma, and we've all had something happen to us for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Um we just sometimes think that it's impossible, but I think really what you're actually doing is releasing this electricity, which seems as though it's got some sort of unpleasant glitch, as you've mentioned.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Well, it's true. I mean, it was in front of an audience of 50 people, sh they thought it was a miracle. She got up and walked, no pain, no dysfunction, no glitching, no limp, no nothing. It took what, 20 minutes. They thought it was a miracle. This is something I do every day. The point is, you have to understand that trauma imprints in the body and it freezes there. And unless you intentionally go back to that memory and do tapping to release the trauma memory imprint, it will stay there and cause problems in your circuitry.

SPEAKER_01

I know Bruce Lipton's done a lot of work on this, and I think it's called the biology of belief. And he's talked about how the body stores memory and trauma.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

And so this makes a lot of sense energetically. And I know that like even neuroscience now is showing more and more of this stuff, which is to you not a miracle, but to other people it might seem like a miracle. But to you, it's like this is not a miracle, this is just how you reset it or how you thaw out those freeze, traumatic, traumatic memories.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. So uh another another thing I do is um I treat people for physical injury trauma to the brain. So I had a woman, she's a nurse, and she had dyslexia. So she was very good at the bedside, but she would reverse the patient's ID numbers when she was writing down uh their case notes, which is basically a gigantic no-no. And she was fired multiple times. So I did muscle testing, which is like light extra testing, to find out what was causing the dyslexia. And it turns out it was a physical injury trauma to the brain when she was in fourth grade from a high fever. And I asked her if she remembered it. She did, because she had a high fever for three days and she was hallucinating. I said, All right, so go back to that memory, and what pops out was the the feeling of heat. The brain was hot. We tapped out the feeling of hot and and released the brain to feel cool again. That was all we needed to do, and the dyslexia disappeared that day because the brain pathways turned back on, and she got another job, and she kept she kept up with me for a couple of years. She would tell me she got a next job, she's doing well, no dyslexia, because I follow people up for a long period of time, so I like to collect data.

Treating PTSD And Clearing Symptoms

SPEAKER_00

But the other thing I figured out was how to how to treat PTSD. And PTSD causes all kinds of symptoms: insomnia, body pain, learning disabilities, addictions, um, anxiety, depression, uh, intrusive thoughts. It's bad. And I figured out how to treat PTSD. Uh, I thought it would take about six sessions, but actually, I was able to do it in one session, and I tested people. I published on that. It's in my website, hblu.org, under my published papers. So now I have a protocol for treating PTSD using meridian tapping, but you have to understand the structure of trauma and you have to do it in a certain order, there's a certain protocol. But I'm very happy with that because all the depression, anxiety, um, addictive compensations just disappear. It can be one session.

SPEAKER_01

It's incredible like how complex we are as human beings with all some of the challenges and traumas and memories we've collected. And it's also fascinating that there is this type of complementary medicine that can actually help reset things that you'd think, how on earth would that be reset? And you know, a lot of my work is always, you know, trying to publish these new studies. And I think, and I really believe that with my own experience of my own challenges, I was like, well, who knew that sitting in silence 20 minutes a day would do so much to somebody? Or who knew that exercising and eating right would do so much to somebody? And it just seems so simple but so profound, you know. And then being able to listen to your instinct and being able to listen to your intuition. And I love the way that you call it a multi-layered person, but I also like to think we're multi-dimensional human beings, not with just five senses, but with many senses.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

And I think that as soon as like the switch is all on, I like you know, the lights are on in the mind, the body, and the soul. The mind being clear and optimistic, the body in a great state of vitality to the best of your ability, then I think the soul's like, Thank you very much. Let's have some fun. What are we gonna do now?

SPEAKER_00

Exactly, exactly. Because this is the vehicle for the throughput, for the soul throughput. So this has to be working for the soul to come and do what it came to do. One of

Purpose Soul Mission And Feeling Satisfied

SPEAKER_00

the things that I do for people, which is really important, is I help them find their purpose. Because at the conscious level, they may not be in touch with their soul's purpose. And if they're not connected with their soul's purpose, then they feel. Lost or they feel that their life has no value. What are they even doing here? And they sort of run run around and feel that life is not satisfying. So I and each individual soul has an individual mission. So people come in and I can do a soul missional elicitation and figure out what their soul mission is. And as soon as they we get the soul mission statement, they light up because they can feel the energy of it. And I see, this is your soul mission. And now we're going to clear the blocks to you manifesting your purpose.

SPEAKER_01

Very important. It's interesting, like because you can walk around thinking, What is my purpose? What is my purpose? But I think you're already secretly living your purpose a lot, which you just might be completely unaware that you're doing it. You know?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, a lot of times people are doing that. They're actually doing their purpose, but they have some idea, you know, some seduction by an ideal, I'll call it, where they have this idealized idea of what your purpose is supposed to be. And what you're actually doing doesn't match your fantasy, basically. And then of course, since you're comparing what you're doing with your fantasy, and of course it's not as glamorous, then you feel like you're not doing enough or it's not big, it's not a big enough deal. But you know, everybody has a purpose and everybody needs to show up and do what they can do. And some people are put into this dimension to do something really big and global, and some people are meant to do something on the local level, and every contribution counts in the collective. So once we figure out people's soul mission, then it's a question of how do you want to do it and on what level do you want to do it. But in the end, if you're doing your soul mission, you feel satisfied with your life. That's very key.

SPEAKER_01

I think the I think that's such an important word to feel satisfied, to feel appreciation for what you're doing, because if you're always chasing the next thing, you're never really satisfied with now. So the that next thing you're chasing, it won't bring you satisfaction, it won't bring you a sense of delight. And so I think that just really tuning into yourself to go, I feel like I've contributed in a way that feels meaningful today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's when I feel like you're living your purpose, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, exactly. That's how you know. And um, you know, people have come to me and they've watched the movie The Secret and they've read the book The Secret. And when people write self-help books for the general population, they write the books to the person's conscious mind. But they don't always tell them how to actually accomplish this wonderful idea that they have, because they're just talking to the person's conscious mind, and they're not giving them techniques to clear the blocks or to actually even communicate with their inner levels. So people come to me and say, you know, I've been visualizing what I want to manifest, and it's not happening, and I don't know why, and I read the secret and I watched the movie and it's not working for me. And I said, Maybe it's because the goals that you decided you want to achieve were made at the conscious level, but you didn't ask your soul what it wanted. And the the key here is you want to manifest, you have to ask your soul. Your soul sets the goals, your soul sets the intentions, your soul sets what you want to manifest. And if you actually check in with what your soul wants to manifest and you focus on that, then you can manifest it. But if you're just coming in from your conscious mind and you think, oh, this would be good or that would be good, then you're not gonna manifest.

SPEAKER_01

I do think that there's something else to this equation, in addition to what you've just said there. And I think that this really helps you understand manifesting something that you really want to draw into your life. And this is the little secret of the secret that I think that I would love more people to know about. And that is that if you're gonna draw that into your life, what are you gonna give? Oh, well, because I really, really believe and know from my own experiences you can have that, but what are you gonna give? How are you gonna contribute and give back to life in a benevolent positive way? So if it's a beautiful new Bentley or a beautiful new mansion that you want to have, what are you prepared to give? Where are you gonna give back into society in some positive, beautiful way, or in the lives of animals or the environment or people? You know, what is it that you're gonna share? What is it that you have, which is I'm abundant, I have something to give that is gonna give back and filter back into the flow of life. So, as you said, that divine energy begins to grow and expand and know itself more. You know, this is something I've been contemplating for a while, and I'm thinking, well, okay, if that's what I want, what am I prepared to give? And I was like, well, okay. So I've got some few things under my hat that I'm keeping here quite nicely. And I and I just think that that's something to think that it's not just about taking and manipulation, it's more about being able to work in harmony. And I think that if we can work in harmony with life and understand the rules of the game, play them to the best of our ability, yeah, whatever we put out we're also going to get back, but also know that whatever we give, we will also receive.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So I I just really like this because I've read it in ancient scriptures, not only in the Bible, but in loads of different ancient texts, and I think that it's a simple way of understanding how you can attract what you want, but you do it with real power and finesse. Yes, and from the centre of your soul, and from your soul, because when your heart is open, your soul is open, you know, it's just a it's just a good feeling. And I think the things that you want should feel really good, like really good. So when they're in your experience, you're like, of course, this feels so good, right? If it's that new car or that new property, or that wonderful work or invitation or whatever it is, it should feel amazing. And I think that that's the electricity in the body giving you satisfaction signals.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think I think that's why so many people say, I'm successful at this, I'm successful at that, but I'm not happy. Why aren't I happy? And it's because what you just said, it's it's not coming from the soul, it's not in alignment with their soul purpose. It's maybe what they consciously thought would be great or make them happy, or what society brainwashed them into thinking would make them happy. Um, and it isn't really nourishing their soul.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and I think that understanding that your soul is having a a fulfilled experience or an empty experience, and I think that only you can tell by how good you feel or or how absence of good you feel. But I think that that feeling is an indication, and I think that your work really manages to be able to pinpoint and show you, oh, I think you've cut yourself off there. This is something that you could do, you know, the the tools that you have. Judith,

Final Advice And How To Support

SPEAKER_01

it's been a real joy and pleasure speaking with you, as always. And I just wanted to ask you a question to leave something for the audience. If there's one thing that you've learned along the way that you know really could make a profound difference in raising the consciousness and happiness levels and satisfaction levels of someone listening today, from all that you've studied and all that you've researched and all that you've experienced, what one bit of advice would you like to leave people with today?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I would like to leave people with the knowledge that your conscious mind is not your identity, your soul is your identity. And the idea that you're a multi-level being and your conscious mind needs to create alignment and connect in with your soul so that all levels of your being work together in the same direction. I think that's really the key to a purposeful and satisfying life.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, that's profound. I love that. Thank you, Judith. Swack is this week's super soul model. Thank you, Judith.

SPEAKER_00

You're welcome, James. It's a pleasure. You're just magical.
