In this episode, we're gonna explore why rest can leave you exhausted. And girl, this isn't burnout the way you think it is. Your nervous system is collapsing and no amount of sleep fixes that. I'm your host, Dr. Jules. Let's get to it. Okay. Hi sweet. So this is your Friday reset and today we're telling the truth. Your body has been trying to say for probably a long time and we are so damn skilled at ignoring it, right? Oh, stop talking to me potty. I can't, I don't have time for this. I need to just push through. No moss. No moss. This is your Friday reset. And we're going to look at the truth your body is trying to tell you. So it's not just burnout. This is what is referred to as nervous system collapse. And the this I'm talking about is when you rest and you sleep and you wake up as exhausted, if not more. That's a big clue. Something's going on with your nervous system. You are doing what everyone says to do, right? Rest, more, take care. Take a day off, go to bed earlier, and yet you wake up just as exhausted and maybe even worse sometimes. And first sweet. So I want you to know you're not doing anything wrong. We're not blaming here. That's why I think talking about self-care can be gaslighting at times.'cause we're like, oh, well maybe I'm not doing something right. That's not it. You're not doing anything wrong. It's because your system isn't tired. It's dysregulated when you live in chronic overgiving. Holding space, managing emotions, caring, responsibility. Who's gonna do it if I don't? Kind of mindset. Your nervous system doesn't just get tired, girl. It gets stuck. It is stuck in survival mode. It's stuck in overdrive. Fight or flight. Gotta fix it. It's up to me. It's gotta push through. It's just two more appointments, whatever. Or you get stuck in shutdown, numb, emotionally frozen. Don't feel pleasure, don't feel anger. You just, you dissociated from your life when you hit shut down. Okay, rest is not gonna restore you because your system does not feel safe enough to receive the rest. Think chakra psychology, getting that root chakra balanced so your body can begin to feel safe. The part that no one is teaching, I'm teaching. You don't need more rest, you need regulation because when your body will not restore in a state a perceived threat and that threat, I mean, I, I'm not saying you gotta, um, someone trying to punch you in the face, but your nervous system is in this perpetual threat that some saber-tooth tiger. Is trying to eat you alive. And when we're in that state, no amount of rest is going to do what it needs to do. So this weekend I've got something for you. I want you to stop trying to fix your exhaustion. Okay? No fixing. We're gonna kick fix to the corner or the curb. Let's kick it to the curb and instead. I want you to meet it, make friends with it, become one with it. Get to know it. So here's what I want you to do several times this weekend, I want you to put one hand on your chest if you're right-handed, put your right hand if you're left-handed, put your left hand and you put one hand on your belly the other hand, and I want you to say. Your name first. Julie. I'm not tired. I'm overloaded. Then you breathe slow and gentle without forcing all this, forcing shit. We gotta stop it. It, it only stands to dysregulate our nervous system. That much more. Girl, I need you to approach this with curiosity. And self-compassion. You've got to say Hello. Hello, dysregulation. Okay. No judgment, just curiosity. And you ask your body what is it that you really need and allow space for that answer. Do not force that answer. You have to learn to honor what you need without judgment. I would love to see you doing this at least once a day, but over the weekend, I want you to do it several times. Again, we're not fixing anything. This is simply about you reconnecting with your nervous system and your body, giving that nervous system permission. To complete that stress cycle and allow you to be at home and rest in your body. This is not something you're gonna push through. This is something you come home to and sweet soul. I wanna welcome you to your homecoming. Sweet soul. Give yourself what you actually need.
